UPDATE- This review is not posted under the wrong club. You can easily look me up in your system. I requested to cancel my membership this week for the very reasons listed below. Only been a member for a couple weeks. You should take your members complaints seriously. You need to address these issues or you will continue to lose business. I recently joined this gym with high hopes after just moving to Seattle. Sadly, this gym is barely a step above 24 hour fitness. In fact, I have been to some 24 hour fitness that are a step above this. The men's locker rooms are repulsive. Tiny, dark, dingy and smell horrible. The showers have mold all over and gross cheap shower curtains. Used towels and trash scattered about. The place is very overcrowded. The steamroom was absolutely vile, smelled so rancid I didn't last 30 seconds. The towels are ratty and stained and the carpet musty. I like a relaxing environment after a tough workout but you wont get it here. If you are looking for a gym experience on the level of Lifetime Fitness, Equinox, etc.. this aint it. Truly was hoping for the best, and terribly disappointed. I can't understand why Seattle does not have any nice fitness clubs..

The most shady gym I've ever encountered. I called them to ask about the cost of membership because they do not list it on their website (red flag 1). The staff member who answered the phone said that only the "membership person" can tell me the cost of membership (red flag 2). I didn't believe him so I pressed him on it. "You're saying you work at the front desk of the gym, answer the phone, and you don't know the cost of membership to the gym?" "Yes, that is correct." (red flag 3) I really don't know what else to say. I just had to share my story. It's honestly incredible to me that this is how they operate.

I have been working out here for almost a year now. The facility is gorgeous. Easily the most beautiful gym I've ever been to. I adore that it has a sauna in the locker room both steam and hot. There's a hot tub in the womans locker room, and a private gym for woman also attached to the womans locker room. However after the remodel I have felt a shift. It feels like their goal is to pack as many people in as possible with no thought to the experience of the people here anymore. At peak times Monday specifically there is a wait time for the showers. Good luck using a machine you like. Other things that have been frustrating is theres been in an influx of teenagers working out together. I've witnessed them sitting on machines watching tiktok and not even working out. Or grouped up in the locker room not allowing people to get to their locker or making fun of them for politely asking to use their own locker. Many people are on their phones in the locker room even though it's supposed to be a safe space. Because it's so busy there's often a lack of towels. Sometimes I have to go to other areas of the gym to find towels to stock the shelves myself. The steam room often isnt working or isnt very strong which is half the reason I force myself to workout sometimes. I've seen gym tours where they're rushing through it to pack more tours in, they've even said, sorry we dont have a lot of time to give this tour. Furthermore the front desk staff seems more concerned with their own conversations than saying goodbye to people. They've said goodnight maybe 5 times to me the entire time I've been working out here and when I sit and wait for my partner the conversations I hear are interesting to say the least. I'm not saying they should have to work in silence but I do believe they should be greeting all guests and their conversations should be second to that. All in all it's a good gym. I'm just scared the quality is starting to suffer.

I am a current member here and really like the gym. The amenities and discounts offered upon sign up are great as well. However, I'm only giving the OAC 3 stars because of their customer service. There is no way to access billing statements online so you have to rely on the front desk to help -- which has been unsuccessful the last 3 times I have asked. I finally called and asked to speak to someone in membership and was grilled about why I needed to speak to them until I was finally transferred, only to have to person I spoke with say "I'm sorry, what's your last name?" in an attempt to be done with the conversation as quickly as possible. It seems like the OAC only cares about getting new members, and does not care about nurturing relationships with existing members at all. At my previous gym, which was much larger, I had an online self-service portal, and was on a first name basis with the owner -- paying a much lower monthly rate. I'd like to see a change in my experience with the front desk and membership before I change this review.

Horrible service for potential members. My husband and I were interested in a membership, so I called ahead to ask about a tour. I was told no appointment was needed as long as I came during normal desk hours. We went in and started signing the waiver before touring. While we were signing in, another person came in to ask for a tour as well. The staff member available to give tours came out of the office and immediately went to the person who came in after us with no acknowledgement and took him for a tour. We were told to sit in the waiting area until she was done. We sat and waited for probably 20 minutes (with an antsy toddler) and no update on how long we’d have to wait. Meanwhile, there were at least 3 staff members standing at the desk who were apparently unequipped to give a tour. Frustrated, we left. Will not be paying our money to a place with this kind of customer service.

Not Equinox but decent for the area. Every time I step in it makes me feel I'm in my grandparents' home. Expect your average Joe and Nancy getting their workout in, not much demo diversity as Equinox. Exaggeration of cameras for a mid tier club - not even Equinox has this many cameras. Reasonably clean and wipe off equipment etiquette. Management really needs to consider replacing carpet as it gives off strong 1950s odor. Smaller weight room needs fans and/or HEPA Air purifiers as everything gets hot and boxed pretty fast. Outdated huge parking car stickers. I like my cars minimalistic aesthetic with no branded stickers. Lack of mobile app in 2022? I’d be happy to develop one for you in less than a week as charitable work.

MINORITIES BEWARE: This is not the place where you’ll feel safe enough to use their facilities. This shady business only wants your money and will take it in whatever way they can. The products in the spa are marked up 100% from warehouse price so already expensive products burn your wallet up in an instant. The only lovely thing about this place is this lovely guy at the front desk of the spa, I don’t remember his name but he was very helpful and courteous. Honestly, he sticks out like a sore thumb in a good way! Otherwise, this corporation is just as evil as the rest. Don’t waste your breathe.

I was a member since 2002. The club changed drastically once they opened the hotel, lost members to competition in Ballard , and became money focused . Customers service was lost . I discovered after years of not being active member they have charged my credit card monthly hold rates despite discontinuing my membership several times by phone and email. Once pandemic restrictions lifted the charges again appeared visible w Bank of America who altered me of charges again. Mark has ignored my calls and emails for two half months . His staff knows it’s happening - one agrees with me and even forwarded my email again to him with me on it . Still nothing . I wonder how many seniors he is charging who don’t know it and are vulnerable to business practices . This club has no oversight - someone in accounting need to be a whistleblower because it’s happening . B

Given a recent interaction canceling my membership, I’m pretty mad at them and have deleted my previous review.. In summary, there’s a fine-print gotcha in the membership agreement. Even if you know you’re moving a few months out, pay month to month without negotiating price ($371+$121/mo), leave a nice review etc, there’s a surprise waiting for you. They didn’t accept my call nor did they call me back during regular business hours, and I don’t have time for playing games right now. It’s just gross and really beneath them, honestly not sure what they’re thinking.

Normally wouldn’t leave a review like this, but this place has awful service and false advertising on both mailers to your home with the same info on their website. Save Staff was aware and rude about it. I’d called earlier in the day they said they were too busy to give info prices then they made sure to let me know it would be “awhile” before they could give me a price. UPDATE 6/6/22 They just sent a flyer again with the same 1 day free pass that they don’t honor.

They don’t require masks in hot tub or pool, which is fine, but when I take off my mask in the hot tub (in compliance with their rules) I get literally screamed at by patrons. I’ve ask the staff to post a sign clarifying mask policy and they have yet to do anything. Just to be clear I’m pro-mask, following the rules and as a masters educated nurse I follow evidence based practice. I would just hope they would post information clarifying their aquatic mask policy so I don’t get screamed at while following their own rules.

I was a member here for years - its a beautiful space. However, fees have gone nuts in the last three years. Its now 250 bucks to join, and 110 a month. Nearly double what it was. It's not that nice.

I agree with other reviewers this is is a step above LA fitness but what LA fitness has is air conditioning. During my workout today I nearly suffered heat stroke trying to workout in one of the I went home and crashed for hours from some weird exhaustion aka heat stroke. 1) You cannot feasibly do cardio because these rooms are not air conditioned. Not even the spin room is. The basketball court is which holds classes and I think the first floor gym because the front desk is there. 2) There are no water dispensers with cold water. There is only one with cold water outside the basketball court and it is a drinking fountain. Seriously?! There should be cold 3) The locker rooms are dated but clean. I cannot vouch for the ladies showers bc I try not to shower at the gym. It's pretty small so not sure you would hang out here. 4) Lots of space and areas to workout but the top floor and mid level floor cardio's rooms can get packed. Overall the value for the prove is not there. I have brought these issues up repeatedly and no change has been made.

My wife and I moved into the area and wanted to try the gym at 7 AM which is the normal time we work out. We didn’t need anything for free and could just pay for a day pass to check out the gym. They made it clear that 1. you can’t just buy a day pass, and 2. you had to meet with a representative and go through their spiel. This place is not customer service oriented And just missed out onto members because they couldn’t let us pay money to access to the gym at the time we would typically use it. Ridiculous

Excellent gym at a great price! I pay in full and it’s about $85/mo or so. This includes lots of perks and unlimited classes. There is plenty of free parking and never hard to get on a machine besides right after work. I hope they bring back 24/7 hours in the future!

This is great if you leave by 5pm M-F. This is a nice club, clean, central to my “meat and potatoes” restaurants in Ballard and has lots of parking. What THEY NEVER TELL YOU when you commit (3.5 stars ratings on another social media — you say swimming and they say nothing !!!! That for working folk 9-5 pm : After or before work looking for (an morning to mid day — weekend swim also) — weekday evening swim time you have to compete against dozens for a 5:30-8:00 pm swim time — <50 lane times (people book “guests” after booking for themselves or two reservations, AND OR waitlist at the sequential time TO GET SIXTY MINIMUM if any OTHER MEMBER cancels, they having already swam as NOW first on the list!!! — YOU HAVE TO BE FOCUSED ONLY ON YOU? So the gates open to reserve SWIM times at Monday 9am : other members who can not log in at 9am or WHO ARE NOT FOCUSED ) SWIMMING POOL night (upstairs in your own lane) — are only available FIRST THEN for booking and THUS reserved quickly TWEAKED AS DESCRIBED ABOVE after 9am sharp on Monday (this Monday for scheduling for the following week). If you are not ready to pounce at 9am sharp —you can reserve the leftover slots later on Monday morning — you have to swim at 8:30 - 9:00 pm or later many times and figure out if you can eat dinner, see family and to get into a new acceptable sleep regimen for yourself. THEY NEVER TELL YOU this when they want you to join. You are stuck— they bill you monthly and if you break contract ? You know … but are they “bargaining in good faith”? Seattle Consumer affairs ?

Great gym! great group exercise classes! Workouts feels like a fun thing to do. Clean and great facilities. The hot tub is the best for relaxing at the end of the day. There are 4 parking spots that we always find parking whenever we came to the gym.

Have to change the reveiw. Lately for the last few months there's been way too many women in the locker room . People go there to relax and enjoy the sauna and hot tub but now there's too many women in there bringing in groups of friends as well , packing the sauna and throwing all their books , water bottles , bathing suits and towels around the Jacuzzi using it as a shelf. Twice I had to pull out a wet towel from the steam room. , Towels everywhere. Had to tell a couple girls that they couldn't have their phones in speakers . Too many women using their phones in the locker room and hot tub . Rules need to start being enforced. I canceled my membership because the spa feels like a teenager locker room . Rowdy and unclean almost sat in lotion or shampoo somebody left on the bench . Floors are more dirtier and it gets loud now .

GOOD TIP: Start legal using camera in a gym without recording and they will offer you full refund) They do not have a membership policy in a public access. I went to this club 2 weeks and was wrongly blamed 2 time by managenents. 1) 06.09.2023 at 9:35 the first time old lady made an intervention into my superset execise for legs, she broken the possibility to do my second execise iimediately after the first execise. I did allowed she to join me as a 2nd person two times because she was to old and weak for looking for the same equipment on 3d floor. Two time she refused to return an equipment into previous state. She said I should do that. I did not let she to join 3d time because 2 prevous violations and I need 5 seconds between my 2 execises in superset(she mades me to spend 1 minute to fix equipment). She complained. Manager came and explained me club rules in abusive tome of voice, he did not try to figure out what happened. I asked more questions and he also explained that the 2nd person MUST return equipment into configuration previously used by 1st person. He ignored my explaination and he did not make any notice to that 2nd person after. He also ignored the fact 2nd person could use the same exuipment on another floor. I did evericing right and I was blamed that I did somethig wrong. He could review CCTV recording before, try to take my point of view, but he only trusted 2st person and did not trust me. Also, that manager came to me and started talking immediately, did not let me to finish my execise with big weight. 2) 13.09.2023 a sales person told me that someone complained I am doing video recording during my execise. I explaination there is no recording on, I am not talking just listening via airbuds and looking into screen, camera pointed on me and one more time NO recording. He chanded blame to "using camera", I explained it's not prohibited with "no recording". He failed to give a reference to violated club rule. Then he changed blame to using "cell phone" in general, he completly forgot that previous day she told it's ok to use "online trainer" installed on mobile phone. Then general manager came and told I did not make something wrong but another clients complains, I cant continue using club because another clients complained and offered me a refund. One more time I did evericing right and I had bad feeling that I did somethig wrong. I did discuss using online trainer just before signing a membership and it was okey. I belive they should work with another clients and explain them there is no recornding and no club rules violated. I do understand people around are woring about video recording in public space (and about 100s of things), but that is not my business. I refused 100% refurn (220 usd for 1 month) and have taken only 100 usd because I alredy visited club 2 weeks. They select to force me out, because they respect money from unhappy clients but not my rights as a member. They respect fake complains and sales ignored my request to give reference to membership policy. They stopped my training process and I need to pay enrollment fee in another club.

It's a nice vibe. However, they recently enclosed the only on-site parking lot, and parking was already limited. They haven't added any parking partners to their offerings. So it's ALWAYS a struggle driving around Ballard to find parking. There are also several dead zones for wifi, including the Women's Fitness Room, which is primarily why I go here.

After almost 4 years of not going to the gym, 5 months ago I took the leap and I started training with Pete Peterson, first the stats. I weighed 270 lbs at the start I am know 260.lbs. My Muscle Mass was 110 it is now 118.8 ( that's .2 from 9 lbs of new muscle). My Body Fat was 29.8 it is now 22.6. Every month I have exceeded my expectations and if you have a trainer that is what you should demand of your trainer, RESULTS! Beating Expectations and Overall improved body muscle and health, CHECK!. I also am now a 36 waist when I started I was 40. That felt awesome to share! My review. I read Petes bio and I felt he was the best match for me. Picking a trainer for someone who has trained for over 30 years (I'm 52) is not easy, because I need someone that will push me, explain to me why I am doing this when I ask intelligently and knows his SH$T because you can't fake it with someone who lived to train since his teens and there is nothing worse than a fake poser trainer! but with the pandemic, herniating my lower disks (L4/L5) and owning my own company which means I work sometimes 24-7, and with travel every month I got severely out of shape, packed on 35+ lbs, dropped in muscle mass, waist size expanding from a 34 to a 40 and I just became a couch potato with damage self esteem. But 5 months ago and with some heavy pushing from my husband of 10 years I did it and it was the best thing I have done for myself in the last 4 years. Pete is not just an awesome person, he is super knowledgable about training, the body, fitness, and lots of other super fun stuff that can keep you engaged and motivated as your training. He took into consideration my injuries and my messy back which meant the first month/6 weeks was really getting my body realigned, getting it back into the rhythm of working out, and burning off the fat. It also meant getting my confidence back to be in the gym. The last 5 months I have maintained a 3 day a week schedule with Pete, packed with muscle building, fat burning routines that have transformed my body faster than I ever thought possible! I posted my 5 months results as proof of how good Pete is, it amazing how a person can motivate you and keep you motivated plus talk to you clearly about why you are doing this, why you are doing that, here is the path and what the goal. I am person that needs to know the person I am training with know his SH$T and I need to see results or you're not my trainer, period. Now my husband trains with, Pete a buddy of ours just started training with Pete and a few more friends are thinking of switching their trainers for Pete based on the results I have had, at 52! so I no spring chicken! You want to get back to you fighting weight, to wear clothes you feel good in, to look in the mirror and whistle at yourself because your so HOT, to bring your sexy back in your relationship big time! Pete is your man. Thanks Pete, you're a game changer buddy!

Best health club, hands down! 2 Pools, spa-like amenities, always updating equipment and offerings to have the best & most up-to-date options for their customers. They’ve done a great job taking care of this place- always growing & expanding. Membership price is fair for what you get.

Perhaps the best gym I’ve ever been a member of. Was here for 1 year and was bummed to leave this gym. They’ve recently renovated most of the gym, which is awesome. Tons of space for free weights, plenty of machines. The free parking is a great perk.

A great gym. Beautiful place. Makes me proud to go there and be a member. Staff is super nice. Trainers are excellent, supportive and helpful. Classes are well organized and plentiful. Kyle, head trainer, is a phenomenal trainer and the other trainers are great as well. Try Kim’s serious sculpt, Bev’s body pump or Kyle’s bootcamp classes. 5 stars.

I had a massage with Lynn in the spa and was blown away. She's one of the best I've seen, and I have a lot to compare it to. I was in a lot of pain when I made the appointment. She understood the root of my pain, and worked to release /remedy it. My massage made a huge difference in my ability to recover and get back to normal. She's a body mechanic genius!

Equipment is so old and the running machine is very shaky and there is no space between the machines. The weightlifting equipment is old. The air quality in the gym is so bad. In addition the gym started increasing rates next year. I won’t recommend this gym to anyone! Awful experience.

The gym is quiet deceptive with their hidden fees, and is only interested in taking your money. I attempted to cancel my account, but they instead gave me a form to put my account on hold. They filled out the form, and said I only needed to sign it. They didn’t mention the monthly hold fee. When I noticed it on my CC, I called and they basically said oh that’s unfortunate, but they wouldn’t refund me the money. I am not sure why they are deceptive like many big box gyms, but even a fancy location can’t hide their true nature.

I recently went on a tour of Olympic Athletic Club and became a member. I haven't been to a lot of health clubs before but based on the other gyms I've been to, this one is really fancy. It has so many different exercise rooms, most of them have windows that open, exposed brickwork and chandeliers. You can really feel you're in historic Ballard, but with a fab modern aesthetic. They offer fresh towels, have two swimming pools and a gorgeous basketball court that is also used for exercise classes. Plus, the bathrooms have their own hot tubs and saunas; I really appreciate there being a women's only hot tub. As for exercise equipment there is a lot - they have really cool stair climbers for example. I'll include more about the equipment after I've had more experience on them.

Have been a member for 4 years. I love the gym. There are plenty of separate rooms for cardio and weight training, as well as a plethora of options for group fitness classes. The pool is on point, and despite being made reservation only, I am able to get a slot within a days notice. The locker rooms are clean, and everything is functional.

I first joined OAC pre pandemic (2019). I fell in love with the aesthetics and all the classes they offered, along with all the amenities and different workout rooms. My membership lapsed (decided to wait to rejoin until things got a little more back to “normal”). But I will without a doubt be rejoining once this Summer is over. Can’t resist being outside every chance I get (when the weather permits haha). I appreciate how accommodating, understanding and welcome all the staff is!!

Pretty decent place to go for a lap swim if you're okay with reserving ahead of time. They use the Mindbody app for reservations, which can sometimes be a bit challenging to work with but nothing insurmountable. I've also taken swimming lessons with their instructors as an adult student; nothing but compliments for them, though I sometimes wonder about the turnover rate given how much I see instructor names come and go in Mindbody.

Incredible place for self care! A friend recommended this place and so I decided to join to use some of my work wellness benefits. I really enjoy the swimming pools (though wish lanes were more open as some people don't show for their reservations), the multiple hot tubs, sauna and steam rooms. It feels like a treat everytime I go here

Really huge fan having joined a few months ago with my wife. Incredible value in my opinion for what you're paying for, which feels more like an athletic club than a gym (hence the name). Have been doing personal training with Axa who is fantastic. Can't recommend enough.

A beautiful gym. It is super spacious and it has many levels, rooms, a lot of equipment. It has a wet and also a dry sauna. There is a swimming pool and hot tub. They have several parking lots. Normally not an issue for me because I go late. They offer towels. Several showers. I see that they are expanding. So it maybe even bigger.

Great club! I love the ambiance here, which may not be the main reason some choose a gym, but I need all the help I can get ;). Warm towels, exposed brick & beams, hardwood floors, and the sauna/steamroom/jacuzzi options keep me coming back as much as the great classes and equipment.

They lose a star because they need better access to water fountains. Locker rooms especially. Otherwise 👍

It’s a nice gym but unfortunately the parking situation is atrocious. If you don’t live within walking distance, I don’t think it’s worth it.
