Kanakund(Kanhakund) is the best tourist place in western Odisha. It is a beautiful picnic spot located at Kaintara Village under Balishankara Block of Sundargarh District. It is also called grand canyon of Odisha. The main attraction of this place is IB River, which flows in between the high hilled rocks creating a beautiful river gorge. It is a very dangerous area to be because of the depth of the water and the harsh rock formations. The water from the river carved such stunning patterns into the rocks that you won’t be able to tear your gaze away from this location. it is a wonderful area for picnic, as well as a wonderful tourist destination for anyone who are interested in nature. A beautiful and off beat place in this area, Local people use this place as a picnic spot. Here, the Id River flows through these rocks to create this shape. As the path is very high and low, you have to walk very carefully here

Stone bed river of odisha. Loved it nice place You can enjoy water and bath for about 200-400m distance after that there is a big down step... 24hr open no fees for parking or entry.

Good to visit in winter for a picnic out there. I visited in rainy season.

After the road ends , park your vehicle and walk for 500 mtrs for the views of stone / rocks in the picture you won't get disappoint.
