5/5 stars. The staff at Kintoto are super friendly and welcoming and make great food. I've tried their regular lunch menu, their rice bowls are delicious. I recommend the tempura don, looks and taste great. The omakase (chef's choice) menu changes every month and you get about 10-11 dishes for about $100. It's good value for a similar omakase experience. The ingredients might not be not be as fancy as other omakase restaurants in Brisbane but the chef and his team put great effort in satisfying their customers and make sure everyone walks out with a full stomach. Great ambience and atmosphere inside, it's a bit more casual than other fine dining experiences but if you're looking for great Japanese dining experience this is the place to go.

I was introduced to it as a good restaurant, so I made a reservation with a happy heart and drove 50 minutes counting down the D-days to finally visit this restaurant today. But sadly, the first impression was not good. There was no welcome greeting, and it felt like I was not welcomed for some reason. I ordered food and went to the bathroom, but there was no explanation and the road was too dark and scary. The smell was also very disgusting. Inwardly can I eat food? But when I got back to my seat, the food was already served. Fortunately, as rumored, the food was delicious. It was much fresher and better than any other famous restaurant. However, at first, it was hard to feel relieved by the unpleasant service of the staff. In short, the food is really great! Atmosphere, staff service, bathroom (reverse, recommended to go in advance) below average! I paid more than $100 per person, but I was surprised by the worse service than any other restaurant.

We had dinner omakase for $100/per person. It was a standard omakase with fusion Japanese food in my personal opinion. Entry level for omakase experience in the Southside. You’ll walk out feeling full because there are quite a few dishes with carbs to fill your tummy. For example, congee being the first dish, deep fried items, sushi, and salmon on quinoa. I would be keen to try the lunch menu another time as I might see more value than the omakase dinner.

The restaurant had a great vibe. You order food online (QR code), so you don't need to interact much with the staff. It was nice to have a peaceful meal without any interruptions.

Newly renovated and expanded restaurant. Looks amazing! Loved the new seating booths. Food was exceptional! Super fresh and beautifully presented. My favourite dishes were the sashimi, tempura and the grilled nanban chicken. Service was friendly, efficient & attentive. Do yourself a favour and visit this place asap!

Really fresh sashimi and sushi 🍣 and the Chirashidon has a variety of fresh seafood 🍲 eg, salmon, tuna, kingfish, prawn, and octopus. The tempura bento is my favourite 🍀🍱πŸ₯° Love the variety of prawn and vegetables tempura, sashimi, nigiri, tamago, and chicken karaage. All cooked perfectly well. The restaurant has a nice ambience with relaxing music and lighting. Booth seating is comfortable and spacious. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Love their chopstick! πŸ₯’ + Recommended to book + Free parking outside + Scan QR code on the table to order + Pay at the counter + 1.5% surcharge for card payment + No split bills + Closed on Monday

I thought everything was excellent, but just out of curiosity, I read the reviews of those who didn't give 5 stars. I'm delighted to say, I didn't experience any bad things. The waitress offered us water and showed us how to order. Everything I ate, and I do mean everything, was a delight. Where this type of restaurant usually falls down is in the tea or the rice, but both were excellent. I drove there from the north side, 22km each way, and will gladly make the long drive again.

A really nice tiny Japanese restaurant operated by Korean chef. Ordered the kobachi box and tempura don. Every dishes in kobachi box is so well cooked and in perfect portion. You get to try a variety range of the food on the menu with a good price.

Clean and nice interior and not loud music. It is good to chat with friends. Also the main chef is kind and good! All foods are nice. Sushi is so fresh. All other dishes are perfect for me. I enjoyed so much.

We just finished our meal here. Friendly service and incredible quality food, the best sashimi I have ever had. The atmosphere is beautiful and calm with nice jazz music playing in the background. This is my new favourite restaurant when it comes to food and atmosphere, don’t change a thing.

It was an okay dinner for me & my hubby as a whole, compared to the price $100.00 pp. However, some dishes were definitely interesting like entree which were onsen tamago, Abalone and panko prawn and potato. Sushi and sashimi were very filling, and the diamond shell w black mashroom soup wasnt deep enough in flavour, just plain and tasted a bit of sands from the clams. Unfortunately the main wasnt chicken heart and wagyu kushiyaki. We had a griiled salmon piece and quinoas. The dessert was three types of fruits with something like popping sugar on top of honey melon. A staff was nice and the atmosphere was chilled with classic music. Yeah, maybe we should try lunch as well next time...

My partner and I came to Kintoto on a whim, but thoroughly loved the experience. The head chef was an absolute pleasure and delight. He was very professional and was extremely helpful to a first-timer such as myself. He wasn't condescending when I asked questions and made the environment easygoing. The menu was very interesting and new for me as I've only gone to fast-food sushi joints across the city. I would definitely recommend anyone who is interested in experiencing an omakase course to go to Kintoto.

Truely a unique experience! The food, service, involvement with the chef is something special. The presentation of all of it is amazing. The sashimi and sushi as they are very fresh and almost melt in you mouth. Service was of a high standard. Will return for the next seasonal menu.

Amazing little Japanese restaurant tucked away on the south side. The ambience and decor are great - although just letting you know that seats are limited. Service is quick, using the QR code to order. The variety of food and drinks is good - everything we ordered has been delicious and perfectly portioned. We've returned a few times and will definitely keep doing so.

If you’re looking for an uncommon sushi restaurant in Australia that doesn’t rely on machines and offers authentic Japanese cuisine, this is the place I highly recommend! The ambiance is delightful, and the food is simply delicious. It’s also a perfect spot for a romantic date nightπŸ’•πŸ»πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅πŸ± The quality of the food matches the ambiance. The sushi, crafted with fresh ingredients and expert precision, will tantalise your taste buds like no other. They also offer a variety of other Japanese dishes, each prepared with premium ingredients and great care, ensuring a memorable dining experience. What sets this place apart is not only the fantastic food and ambiance but also the incredibly friendly owner and staff. They warmly welcome customers and provide detailed explanations and recommendations for each dish. Their genuine hospitality will make your evening truly enjoyable :)🍣😍🍱

Nice decoration and setting. We waited a while until the chef called the waitress to arrange us seats. Waitress didn't explain and introduce anything about how to order. So we called the waitress, she said: just order on the phone. The menu didn't explain much about ingredients or dietary. The waitress didn't offer us water, we asked for it half way of our meal. The chef is friendly and seemed more caring about customer. More staff training would be better for customer service. Assuming maybe understaffed. We ordered eel don, small sashimi, karaage, ginger Sawa. -Eel don came not hot, the rice is cold. Eel seemed to be grilled but it wasn't hot. Don served with hot rice in Japan. It's very strange. $26 -Small Sashimi is nice, King fish and snapper are delicious. Octopus and prawn are chewy. Scallop and salmon are fine.$35 -Karaage is maybe around 5 pieces for $18. It is over-priced. Ginger Sawa is alright. $15 The toilets in the complex seemed not clean for years. Avoid it if possible.

This restaurant is a hidden gem in Southside! The place is clean and they have recently expanded to accomodate more guests, the food is fresh and delicious and it is reasonably priced! My new go-to Japanese restaurant for sure!

We had such a good experience at this little Japanese restaurant, we had the Kintoto Bento and it has 4 of the classic dishes, Nigiri, chicken karaage, prawn and veggies tempura and chicken teriyaki, all were amazing. It was very busy during a weekday lunch but the service was very fast, love the atmosphere too, will definitely go back to try the other dishes.

Fresh and well prepared ingredients, skilled chef and good service. Also has that nice atmosphere. Fancy beer glasses and cute chopstick stand are also plus. Price was a bargain in October. Price increase in November and want to find out what changes are made. Will return.

It has potential to be a neighbourhood gem. Small sho restaurant and booking for dinner is necessary as the place is small. I liked the atmosphere and effort into sound proofing the roof. Food wise, it's ok with room for improvements on the menu that I had. Fresh ingredients but in my opinion, it lacks depth in flavour in cooked dishes. The diamond shell soup is the least impressive dish with sand in it and not much favour. My favourite dish for the night is the onsen egg and sashimi. Desert is fresh cut fruits with some sparkle soda pop which is quite ordinary but appreciate the effort.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal! The presentation was exquisite, can tell the chef really takes care and has great attention to detail. Chirashi was super fresh with quality ingredients - one of the best I've had. Everyone enjoyed their meal (we ordered chirashi, mackerel don, teriyaki chicken bento). Service was attentive and friendly too. Truly a favourite now, will be returning! Can't wait to try everything else πŸ˜†
