I visited this place last Saturday and it was a pleasant surprise for me. I was driving through the street in front of the house at the time and was planning to inspect a nearby investment property. Suddenly, I found a lawn on top of the mountain. There are several houses in the center of the meadow, surrounded by some trees and flowers. When I drove into the land, parked the car, and approached the house, a young volunteer (a lovely girl) was already here waiting for me. She showed me around and explained everything patiently. Plus, there's an elegant lady who's been busy cleaning floors and wiping dust off items. Occasionally she would help the young girl answer some questions. It can be seen that the two of them cooperate very well. The girl accompanied me through the whole room, introduced the situation of the Mayes family, various household items from a hundred years ago, and invited me to taste the macadamia nuts from the backyard. You have to admit, it was a really wonderful experience. I plan to come again with my daughter and wife sometime. Let them also feel the beauty here.

A lovely little museum in Logan City area with a wonderful story. One of my favourite places to visit. Lovely and friendly volunteers, and a great place for children.

Called into Mayes Cottage on a wet and windy Friday afternoon and it was well worth the effort. The lady who showed us around was very enthusiastic and informative, so well done to all the volunteers and City of Logan for keeping the history alive.

An informative wander through a small slice of the past. So lovely to see that places like this still exist. The ladies were full of facts and information about the house and it's former tenants. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to see the actual past, today.

Lovely time today at the 150 year old Mayes Cottage with 3 grandchildren. The grounds and house delightful respite from heat. Informative friendly staff guided us through the historic Cottage full of history and memorabilia from the Mayes family. The children learnt so much and were given activities packs to take home. All in all a great adventure in school holidays. And it is Free!

Mayes Cottage is an interesting historic building. The staff were so very welcoming and showed us around the building and explained its history - both the outside buildings that were the family's original home and the current cottage itself. I highly recommend this for anyone interested in seeing how families lived in a bygone age.

I'm one of a group of volunteers who assist visitors with information about this historic place. It owns a tranquility and personality which permeate every part of the buildings and grounds.

Mayes Cottage is a unique historical homestead where you can see how the early settlers of the district lived. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The gardens are great for a picnic. Toilet facilities are onsite. Visit and find out about the personalities and stories behind local place names in the area.

This is an incredible little gem of local history with friendly volunteer guides and interesting stories to hear. Not a lot to do other than walk around the grounds but there are picnic tables available if you want to make the most of your visit.

I travelled 1.5hours to be here and its totally worth it. Its small and takes a max of 30mins to tour this place. But its free entrance n we'll maintaines by the friendly staff. Yvonne explained the history of the house n show me around. This place is kept in uts original state and definitely a rare find. Do visit and support this place.
