On Christmas day I was almost dying from pills that I took earlier. I went look for help almost to every store around there but no one would help me, and then my friend and I came in to Shalom Brisbane, they were about to closed but then I came in for help, there were 3 boys (employee) they were so kind and straight away asked me what happened. Luckily, they called an ambulance and helped me. I really thankful for them and thank you for saved my life.

Shalom is one of those places that the food is so good and brings back memories of my childhood. The food is exactly like how I use to eat when I was a kid in Jakarta. Shalom brings a taste of home to Australia. The food is humble and sincere. Be it in Sydney or Brisbane the food is consistent, highly recommended. Nom nom nom

Authentic, delicious, humble Indonesian food! 🇮🇩 Love the nasi padang, nasi campur, ayam bakar (grilled chicken), satay and fried tofu with beautiful peanut sauce! 😍 Plus, they have Teh Botol 🧃 Order at the counter and pay cash if you can. Staff are lovely and friendly. I wish they open in the CBD! 🙏

Delicious and authentic Indonesian food. Don't think you can go wrong with anything here, except probably the noodles, which wasn't bad but just not that authentic (though to be fair it's quite difficult to replicate the real thing overseas).

Perfectly balanced peanut sauce 🤤 Used to visit more often when I lived closer, and have definitely missed these lovely Indonesian flavours. This time we came on a public holiday which meant surcharge, but this was balanced by the 10% off when paying with Payo. We had: * Sate ayam + nasi, $17 - chicken satay with steamed rice * Gado Gado, $14 - mixed salad with peanut sauce * Mie ayam pangsit goreng, $14 - mushroom chicken noodle with fried wonton * Es Cendol, $7 - cendol ice Seriously that peanut sauce was so moreish I'd be happy spooning it over plain rice and calling that a meal 👌

This guys have changed owner recently and their service went backwards really fast. Today I ordered a meal on their website and sent my 19 year old daughter to pick it up while I stayed home with a young child. Surprised she called a few minutes late saying that people at the restaurant said they had no order and rudely told her off. Didn't even bother to look at the email confirmation we had received from them. I checked my bank account and the money had come out of my account. At this stage I called the restaurant where some extremely rude female person hung up the phone on my face. So I called her back and informed that I was coming up to get my food or a refund on my card. I arrived in the restaurant after the hustle of getting the little one in the car and going there and they argued with me stating that they could not give me a refund because they use a third party to collect the money. Clearly in my statement was their name nobody else's. They argued with me rudely until a young lady with her nose pierced ( don't know names) come out and started to talk sense and calmly we worked towards a solution. Funny enough afterall they had the order as they cooked it without me telling them what I ordered. She went on to say she would give me something free but I said to her I don't need freebies and this was not about getting anything for free. This was about not getting taken for a ride and not letting this people treat my daughter and me like they did over the phone and in person. No doubt the food will go in the bin I have worked in restaurants before and I know what happens in the kitchen when one complaints. Wow what a big difference from previous management...I use to be a regular, Now I strongly not recommend it...

First time visitors and the experience was nothing short of warm and inviting. Food was delectably delicious infused with flavours that had tantalising effects that makes diners want to return to try other options from their menu. Simple atmosphere similar to what you’d find in the streets of Bali.

You can find many great Indonesian tastes in Shalom Brisbane. They have quite large range of varieties in the menu. You will get chicken, beef, duck and seafood dishes. Their Sambal sauce has great taste. You must try it if you are a spicy food lover. Thanks for your kind service.

Had lunch here with my mate this arvo. I have been to the Shalom at UQ St Lucia campus, but it’s my first time dining here. We ordered Bakwan Shalom and Beef Rendang. Very authentic and full of flavour. Semuanya enak! In Indonesian, Bakso (or Baso) and Bakwan both mean meatballs, quite similar but not the same. I tried their Bakwan today and would like to try the classic Mie Bakso next time.

Words can't describe how amazing their food is and I can't fault any of the dishes I've ordered from them in the past. The service is wonderful, the prices are very reasonable, serving sizes are very generous and some of the dishes there reminds me of back home, when I'd visit Malaysia. Yes, their chilli sauce is extremely hot, but most of the time, it's sitting in a tiny container, off to the side. (Just a side note for people who can't handle the heat). Other than that, I highly recommend this place if you want to experience traditional Indonesian food.

Cosy little Indonesian Restaurant in Sunnybank frequented by the local Indonesian/ South East Asian populace. While the service and ambience is below average, the restaurant's chef who hails from Surabaya makes up for it with some authentic Indonesian fare. When you are searching for authentic Indonesian food and see a restaurant packed with Indonesians, you know you have struck gold. It is uncommon indeed do you get a restaurant in Australia that does not modify the taste of it's food to suit Aussie taste buds.

So delicious! Best Indonesian food I’ve had in ages. Food was authentic and very flavourful, the sauces fresh and spicy and the service very friendly. Parking was easy and we could sit with the dog outside in the seating area. Will definitely be back to try some other dishes.

The flavour of the food here is strong and delicious. I really like the beef ribs with shalom sauce. But it is a hit and miss. Sometimes its really really good. Sometimes the meat is burnt so it becomes a disappointment. Overall, the food here is tasty but wish that it could be more consistent. Please make it consistent!

Guys we eat here all the time. Unfortunately on Sunday I had the Nasi Paddang and got food poisoning. It is the only thing my family did not eat that I did. Might want to double check things so it does not happen again. Update: It’s 5 days later and I am still loosing weight during holidays when I should be putting it on due to this sickness. Although I am very great full for your apology and offer of a free meal I think the issue for your business is currently bigger that that. therefore theses were our observations on the day we ate prior to knowing I was about to get very sick. 1. Cleanliness all around had decreased, table tops not wiped properly, staff presentation, etc. 2. The guy wiped the table for us and then wiped the floor with the same cloth. 3. We asked for a spare bowl for our 5year old and it came with oil in the bottom, we wiped it out ourselves. Please know this review comes with the best of intentions from 12 year Shalom Sydney regular customers who were delighted to see there was a Shalom in Brisbane when we moved. Please note once the update has been read by the owner I am going to remove this review as I believe it to be a once off mistake that will be rectified and it is a great restaurant that deserves good reviews.

Amazing food and warm, friendly staff. A Sunnybank gem. The experience I had at Shalom exceeded my expectations. My order: - Siomay Bandung (steamed dumplings with peanut sauce) - Sate Kambing (lamb satay) - Beef Rendang - Ayam Goreng Shalom (fried chicken with Shalom sauce) - Chilli eggs - Kerupuk (garlic and prawn crackers) - Ikan bilis kacang goreng (fried anchovies & peanuts) Everything was a hit. So delicious. I recommend all the dishes I tried to anyone. In fact, thinking about the food while writing this review is making my mouth water. I can't wait to go back and try more menu items.

Recommendation: Nasi Campur Shalom in Sunnybank is one of my favourite restaurants. It's our go to place when we can't decide what to cook for dinner. I must have ordered the Nasi Campur more than a dozen times since we discovered Shalom. I love the balance of textures and flavours on that plate. You get to try a bit of everything as opposed to just ordering the grilled chicken with rice. The entrees and soups are excellent as well.

I had the ayam goreng with plain rice and sauces . It came with only one piece of tomato and one slice of cucumber. The egg tasted good . The rice felt too soggy . I’ve had experience eating lots of curries and chilli dishes , and the dish was described as “ very spicy “ on the menu. However, both chilli sauces provided set my mouth on fire !! Very disappointed that I ended up eating the rice and fried chicken with no sauces .

the food at shalom feels very homecooked and authentic. the owner is very kind and explained the menu for us thoroughly as well as recommending her favourite dishes. it was helpful as it was my first time eating indonesian cuisine. the atmosphere is also very fun and lighthearted, so my whole experience at shalom was extremely enjoyable and i will be back soon.

The quality of service and food was exceptional! The owner is a very lovely and kind person, and she personally greeted us as we sat down to eat. The authentic Indonesian food blew our minds away. I highly recommend this restaurant when choosing to dine at Pinelands.

    - spicy, spicy, spicy. Luckily, the water is self service, otherwise we would have ran out and probably passed out due to spice. If you can’t handle spice, definitely don’t order something with a 🌶️ symbol (or ask to have no spice), as it is very very spicy!! I managed okay just by avoiding the spicy sauce, but even a little bit was enough to make me feel it. In terms of the rest of the dish, it was pretty tasty and I enjoyed it quite a bit. We also got the rice cakes and satay skewers, which were both cute little additions to our meal, and quite enjoyable. The rice cakes were little pockets of rice, that had a “sticky rice texture”, but not much taste specifically. The satay skewers were great and I highly recommend them. The sauce on them was delicious (and not spicy!)

Great food but service and cleanliness could use some work. Food is authentic and well made. This is one of those eateries where you must pay and order at the cashier, although this is fine I would recommend having a waiter service, it would add to the experience. The restaurant could use a bit of a clean and the cups for the water need a good cleaning. Nearly every cup I took was not clean.

Not a regular customer here. But after finish a job nearby and looking for something for lunch. Saw Shalom Malay resturant and gave it a try. Staff and service was good. So I ordered a beef curry with rice. Rice was well cooked, I am ok with that. But the beef curry just provided little amount of sauce (see photo), may be around 2 table spoons only. The beef was super tough, very hard to chew. For $13 meal, may be not worth it. A bit disappointed after a hard work in the morning.

Shalom is a restaurant that offer various Indonesian foods or dishes. Their foods are so delicious and the price of each dish is reasonable. If you like a (bit) spicy food, you should try their grilled chicken or duck with green chilli. If you're not a fan of chilli, you can always ask them to put the chilli aside. You also want to try their Oxtail Soup, it's so good especially during winter.
