Tokyo Chubo is located in Sunnybank and it has a really nice vibe. The menu is very simple and straightforward so we didn’t have to spend too much time trying to figure out what to get (which we usually do 😂) Here’s what we got: • Sushi Roll w/ Soft Shell Crab - $15 • Chirashi Rice Bowl - $25 • Katsu Rice Bowl - $15 The chirashi rice bowl also came with miso soup on the side. There was a nice variety of sashimi and the portion size was great! 🥰 The katsu chicken was honestly soo good! Probably one of my favourite latsu chickens ever! The outside was soo crispy but very soft at the same time and the meat was so juicy! 😍 Finally, the soft shell crab sushi was really nice too! The size of the rolls was pretty good and there was actual crab meat in there, which was good 😌 Highly recommend trying out this place if you haven’t already! 💯🙌

Tokyo Chubo has one of the best tonkatsu in the south side. Very bite of this beautiful tonkatsu comes crispy and with some sides and pickles that pairs well with the tonkatsu. If you’re not a big fan of pork, you should definitely have the Tori katsu (chicken Katsu). It’s juicy and freshly fried to perfection. We have also tried the tori karaage which is pretty close to the ones we had in Japan and I would say it’s a must buy if you are not having the tori katsu. We have seen so many people have their udon and sashimi and they all looks amazing too. We will likely try those next time. One of the things we didn’t like so much is how it’s always packed, we will have to get in once they open, otherwise there’s always a wait. so be sure to make a reservation if you can’t get there when they open or if you’re in a big group. It is also on the pricier side of things (compared to other, bento, Japanese food type things). But I would say, it’s work it.

Absolutely fantastic. Feels very much like restaurants in Japan, all the food was high quality, extremely delicious and beautifully presented. Everything was made fresh. We waited a while for food, however they were very busy and had only just opened! Regardless highly recommend a visit, worth the drive from Brisbane if you're not a Sunnybank local. Based on the number of people there (full!) I would recommend making a reservation to avoid waiting. The only downside is there are no dessert options, but there's some good spots nearby if you're after dessert!

Food was amazing, the service was even better!! My friend (from Melbourne) and I always come to Tokyo Chubo whenever she visits. We usually order the same thing so as we were running late to our booking, we placed our orders over the phone, on arrival we saw they had some new chef specials and rushed to ask if it was possible to change one of our rolls however they had already started making our order. Halfway through our meal the chef so kindly brought out a mini version of the roll we had tried to change to, to make up for the fact that he could not change our order. It was such a kind gesture and really made our night !!

Generally excellent tasting food and beautiful presentation. The takoyaki tasted like it was reheated from a frozen packet though. Will definitely return to try the rest of the menu though!

Here a second time: it's still expensive and the portions are on the smaller side, but the freshness and quality of ingredients still shine through. The sashimi platter had great fresh tasting portions of fish. The other cooked dishes had nice but not overpowering flavours and were nicely made and very well presented. A minor gripe was that we booked a table and we're still waiting 20 minutes to get a seat Original review (4stars): Very nicely presented but a tad small portions

Yum yum in your tum tum. Nice little atmosphere (a cute little Japanese restaurant) and they had a wide variety of food from bento sets to don bowls to sushi and sides. The food was great too. I got a chicken katsu don and it was delicious- perfectly crispy and a good amount of sauce too! Presentation of all the food was also great. The store itself was very cute and homely and they sold little Japanese soft drinks too. Service was decent. I think the small size of the shop makes it a little bit difficult to navigate around without accidentally hitting people with dishes. The staff, however, were very friendly and hospitable overall :) I would highly recommend!!!

Tasked with finding a seafood-centric Japanese restaurant, I stumbled upon Tokyo Chubo, thanks to some well-versed foodie acquaintances. When a booking at Sono's proved impossible, Tokyo Chubo not only filled the gap but far exceeded expectations. A standout was the large sashimi platter, which, dare I say, was even softer than Sono's. A revelation that left me both surprised and delighted. The tempura prawn, another shining star of the evening, had me guiltily hoarding more than my fair share. The tartare, bursting with sour and vinegary flavours, was perfectly suited to my palate. However, it garnered a lukewarm reception from my companions. We also savoured the soft shell crab roll, which left us yearning for more sushi, despite being satisfyingly full. The special bluefin tuna sushi was decent but failed to inspire a second order on future visits. In short, great place to go for Japanese. Will be back for more!

Limited menu, nice quality! This is a lovely restaurant but there are limited choices on the menu if you're trying to avoid deep fried food. The food we ordered was very good quality and well presented, but a little more expensive than the Japanese restaurant that we usually visit. The staff are really friendly and BYO is a plus!

Went there for lunch and go back with happy tummy. Chirashi sashimi don was delicious and big slices of sashimi. Wife happy with the quality and freshness of fish. Curry pork katsu bento was delicious. The curry part is a bit too sweet for me. The coating for katsu was crispy and tasty. The side dish, like salad is all tasty including the miso soup. Will definitely comeback again in the future to try different menu.

Fresh sashimi and generous serving size. The tonkatsu is crispy on the outside but tender and just on the inside. I have been there many times and every single time I go I always enjoy the food there.

We enjoyed the dinner last night. The food is tasty, the presentation is professional, clean and hygiene environment, friendly staff, good value food and price, I could see the restaurant pay their attention on their food and customer service. Have long time didn’t have such a warm and nice professional experience in a small restaurant, more than I expected. Well done and highly recommended. Definitely will go back and bring my friends next time.

Lovely little restaurant. Wide selection of Japanese dishes. The bentos are my personal favorite, but you'll definitely love the meal even if selecting something else on the menu. It's all lovely, fresh and very tasty. Portions are generous but I recommend a starter, especially if mains for the adults and sharing with a young child. We've visited a few times now and definitely will again. We love it and can't wait till next time.

Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurant around the area on the south side! Been here a few times and the quality and freshness of the ingredients is 👌 and also their Beef Takaki is definitely a must try! For sushi, we usually go for the futomaki, Chirashi roll or salmon aburi roll!

Enjoyed lunch with a friend at the restaurant and we ordered a large sashimi, prawn tempura and a beef tataki. The dining experience was great, the tuna was the highlight of the meal for me. Do book for a table to avoid waiting for one.

I have been here several times and it is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants. The service is amazing and the staff are extremely friendly always providing the best service. The food never disappoints. The restaurant is quite small so make sure to call ahead and book to ensure you get a seat. I highly recommend this place!!!

Their bento set is a good value deal. It come with salad, miso soup, veg and sashimi. Totally out of my expectation. I love their breaded coating, it made the deep fried pork katsu wonderful. The salmon sashimi also my flavour. Highly recommended.

Food was great and Portion size was very decent. The bento boxes we saw were huge and definitely not require appetiser. We personally had the beef tataki which was very tasty but the chirashi don was the highlight here. Seafood was fresh and tasty absolutely loved this and so nice to have this kind of quality meal locally. Definitely our new place to go when we feel like some Japanese lunch.
