This is a heritage listed building. Don’t be fooled by this at all. The black mould in the first block is truly shocking. I was given room 6 and the black mould on the walls and around the casement windows was truly disgusting. The walls are like paper. You can here everything. The bathroom was so dirty and tiles in the shower thick with dark green / black mould. When I complained the staff told me volunteers cleaned the bathrooms and mould treatment was done once a month !!!!! The facilities are old , not maintained and truly in need of some major renovation and cleaning. The Anglican Church bought the house and now own and operate this hostel. It is a disgrace compared to other YHA accommodation I have stayed in. The 10pm quiet time is a complete joke. There is a constant stream of people returning back and they don’t care it’s 12am , 1am or 3.30am they talk loud , take long showers , hold parties on their rooms and talk on their phones like it’s in the middle of the day. It was the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in. I have travelled extensively in all different types of accommodation and this place needs to be deemed unhealthy for habitat due to the black mould , wood rot , noisy plumbing pipes that bang and rattle with each flush or shower and the poor condition of the building. It’s a health risk number one.

A disgrace on behalf of YHA brand. Dirty and noisy with mattresses that should have been put in a bin years ago. No wifi and over priced. Horrible experience Only positive is location

Overall, this accommodation is in line with what you would expect from a backpackers in Aus. However, in terms of what you would expect for $183 a night (what I paid) it was a bit below. I booked the private room with shared bathroom- Pros: - Price (one of the only options under $200 per night in Noosa) - Location (2mins to Hastings street and beautiful surrounds) Cons: - Sound - as it’s noted in many reviews the building is old and the sound travels. I probably got unlucky as my room was two up from the kitchen and shared a wall with the male bathroom. This meant it was always loud, as in I could hear every flush, all hours. - Strangely hard bed. - No wifi in the rooms (just the main area), even then when I was working from tables outside the wifi wasn’t strong enough for teams calls etc. - Mould - semi expected but bathrooms can see the painted over mould, not just normal humidity amount. - No secure luggage storage for before/ after stay (just a room that anyone can access).

Accommodation is truly, badly, deeply BASIC. Showers are old, and adjoining toilets are shabby. Gaps underneath bedroom door leading to outside. I really did not like this stay and checked out a few days early. On the flip side, the team were very friendly and location is great. But the rooms are not good at all. Worth noting: I spoke to a fellow guest and she noted it is still the best in the area. Makes we wonder how bad the others are.

This is the most COZY YHA I've been in so far. The historical building and GREAT LOCATION surrounded by nature are a good match for that. Simple service enough to enjoy a good stay CLOSE to the BEACH, RESTAURANTS, BUS STATION and NATIONAL PARK. Super FRIENDLY and EFFICIENT STAFF always there to help and have fun. This place is a good choice to RELAX and ENJOY Noosa no matter the plan.

I’ve stayed at many YHA’s over the past month but this one has been the worst by far! The building needs a lot of work doing, it’s very dirty in the rooms and showers/toilets, kitchen was filthy every time I walked in, and I ended up spending most of my down time at my friends hostel and am very disappointed I paid money for a hostel in this state! The thing that gives this hostel the one star is the location, as it’s very close to the beach!

The price is a little expensive but everything else was great. Bathrooms were clean, rooms looked nice and there was an area where we could chill. The staff was also very friendly.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. There is mold everywhere and the rooms are very noisy. The door cannot close properly and there is absolutely no atmosphere in the hostel.

Nice hostel with great staff and easy to meet new people. Rooms (without AC) where a little expansive for what you get. Had a good time though with free table tennis and the beach nearby. Also the national park and all the walking tracks are nearby.

For the price you pay, do I expect to have to eat a salad with a spoon because there are no forks... absolutely unacceptable. Kitchen is TINY for the amount of people here. People queuing for ages to cook their food. Eating area also TINY! 10 seats for the whole hostel to sit at and eat food… and the stalls are low compared to the table so you can’t comfortably eat your food. No boiling water tap which is basics for all hostels and only 1 kettle. Great communal areas, so many to choose from, multiple different outdoor spaces as well as a few different rooms indoors too. So much space in fact, it’s a shame some of that space isn’t used as the kitchen! They says there’s free Wi-Fi yet there’s no Wi-Fi in the bedrooms, outside areas or kitchen. Literally the indoor common room/ right by reception and even then it drops out most of the time and doesn’t automatically reconnect, you have to go through all the terms and conditions etc again. One of the showers is super powerful all the others are not. And if you go in the powerful shower, turning the hot tap up only makes the shower more powerful and not actually hotter. But all the showers have the extra cubicle space for changing which is good. No plug sockets by the beds. This place is made of wood and there are large open slats above the doors in the dorm rooms to the corridor and outside… needless to say, it’s very noisy, you can hear birds/bats all night, hear loads of banging of doors and peoples footsteps, light shines through the slats from the lights in the corridors all night so the room never gets dark and all the indoor spaces get very cold at night. This is the first place I’ve stayed in where I’ve been very cold at night and it’s not even the middle of winter yet! For the experience I had, I would have expected to pay at least $20 less a night. Even then I’ve stayed in better hostels than this. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Extremely basic kitchen- not even a working tin opener 2 inch air vent gaps above all doors, let’s in all noise and cockroaches Wifi only available in public areas No air con in dorms! Lights off at 10, nowhere to sit and read Reception is barely ever manned Free pancakes On a Sunday Free parking Good location You get what you pay for, wouldn’t recommend but will do the job if on a strict budget

Love yha noosa heads! Best located from all hostels in noosa next to the beach. You can place your surfboards or rent a surfboard next to the hostel. 5 minute walk to the beach. Whole hostel is very clean and spacious. They have nice social activities like ping pong tournaments or yoga! It’s quiet in the night - would definitely recommend!

The place looks OK and location is good. Private rooms had no privacy and everything is very loud. Almost nothing organised and the guy from reception could not really give us some information about the city. Very expensive for what we got...

YHA Noosa Heads is a fantastic place to stay! A beautiful old fashioned guest house with great staff who are nice and helpful! Even the Srub Turkey's are friendly!!!

This place is absolutely amazing! I can't say enough...the staff are friendly and helpful, nothing is a problem...the building is a beautiful heritage building in a national park..walking distance to beach and cafe's, restaurants, clothing shops etc. We stayed in a private room with 2 single beds...it's perfect 👌

It is very spacious and the location is close to town, amongst the forest. There is an old, out of tune piano too. It is a bit pricey at about $65 per night but it is worth a visit. Also there are fun activities such as beer pong on Friday night.

Best hostel I have ever stayed at. I stayed there between the 9th to the 12th of August 2023. So whoever the owner is. Needs to reward all the staff for their hard work. It was the cleanest hostel I have ever stayed at. And all the activities were brilliant. It’s a bunch of heritage listed buildings that back drop. Onto beautiful Noosa national park. So literally the hosel is surrounded by rainforest. It’s also the only hostel that is close to the beach. I didn’t want to leave. But I had to get back to reality. I have now recommended the hostel to friends.

Won't be back, wasn't overly happy with the service I received from staff, was refused another night stay due to consuming my medically prescribed cannabis on property (outside and away from People). I was asked not to do it on premises which I respected. Kitchen doesn't open early enough, I didn't have enough time to make breakfast or have a coffee before I had to leave for work. Rooms lacked amenities and space. Walls are super thin and people were unnecessarily noisy so was hard to fall asleep. I was given no time to pack up my things before having to go to work and no time to get everything to another hostel so was treated unfairly and given a extra fee due to it (had tried to extend to avoid this) Other then that, the place is in a lovely central location and the place is pretty cosy with lots of activities and a piano for people to play.

Undoubtedly one of the best hostels in Australia in one of the best locations. This was my 3rd stay in this rambling historic building that is in absolute pole position for everything that beautiful Noosa has to offer. The huge, spacious verandahs are ideal for relaxation and there is always plenty of incentive for guests to get involved in the many activities on offer. This was the first time I drove my car to Noosa and was able to take advantage of the free on-site parking. I was able to leave the car parked up on Saturday as well as the bus interchange is directly across the street, which enabled me to jump the free weekend bus to Eumundi Markets and relieve the parking stress around Eumundi which is always crowded on market day. My only criticism of Halse Lodge was the excess noise generated by next-door guests, the timber structures and thin walls do carry the noise if there are guests not being considerate of the 10pm curfew.

I stayed at the hostel about 2 weeks ago and found it very homely. I was lucky to have a 4-bed dorm with great roommates. Overall, I had a lovely time there. The only downside was that it's on a hill. But my biggest issue was when I washed my clothes. I put them in the dryer and ended up with bleach stains. I know I didn't use bleach, so someone must have put it in there. I talked to the reception about it, but they didn't do anything. The washroom facilities were outdated, and half of the machines didn't work. It's a decent hostel, but my advice is to avoid washing your clothes there. It's better to find another place to do laundry. Even though it's not something you'd expect to need to do as a backpacker, hostels should provide better laundry facilities. I won't be returning to this hostel since I have to replace my clothes, and I can't afford to do that without an income. I've seen others receive compensation for less, so I'm disappointed. I wouldn't want this to happen to someone else either.

Nice hostel with very friendly and helpful staff. All the facillities are clean, the hostel has loads of space to relax and just hang out. It is located in close proximity to the beach, so it‘s perfect if you want to surf or swim.

This hostel is next to a bus station and a 5 min walk to the main beach Noosa Head/ the national park. Rooms are basic, kitchen and common area are alright. 4 bed dorm had 3 lockers? Wifi was okay. Staff was nice. They offer free activities everyday.

Honestly, i had very good time in this hostel when i been there but i left because the last management was very rude. They left people on the street one day before chrismas without let them know. My friends got covid and Giulia Bertoni tolk with them very in the bad way doing that hard time for everyone even harder. Some people sick during chrismas without place to live... I think that means you need to review the quality of people who is managing the hostel. Rest of the staff friendly, facilitied and building pretty old, location is perfect.

I've been travelling around Queensland for the last 3 months staying at many different hostels and this one is the nicest one by far. It's the combination of a beautiful authentic building, friendly staff and the perfect location that makes this place so good. You really have to experience it for yourself to fully understand why this could be regarded as one of the nicest places to stay in the area.

Loved it, great location, 2 mins from town and beach. Great for working remotely, lots of space to get your work done. Friendly and attentive staff always on hand for travel advice. Would recommend 👌

I have never been to a place this dirty. I was so disappointed and my $250 wasted and we couldn't stay eveb one night. Our car's hand break got broken because there was no car park and they asked us to park on the grass which wss very steep. Not clear prescription of the place at all on prior of the booking. Definitely would not recommend this place at all i would like to give a big Zero star if there was that option.

I stayed one night with my partner in a double room . The price was pretty expensive for what we got ($90 per night) the kitchen was super dirty and the toilets too. That night we were exited because the next day we were going to go surfing as they lend surfboards for free, but the surfboards were kind of taken from a bin. The location is really good

Excellent position. Got upgraded to Rainforest retreat. Managers were friendly and very accommodating. Better than our stay in the Mantra.

4 of us ladies did a day out from brisbane to noosa heads, trail walk, sun and some beach energy. Our stay over at YHA Halse Lodge was a last minute decision the morning we arrived, being the only accommodation available online we could find very central and close to the beach, well actually close to everything. I was a bit sketchy at first? I was really pleasantly surprised. We managed to get the last family room for a very reasonable price. It suited us well for a one night stayover. I couldn't believe how central Hause Lodge was to the centre of town. Beautiful big old Queenslander Lodge. Shared laundry, toilet, showers and kitchen facilities but separate toilet/showers for men and women. Free onsite parking available. Friendly, helpful reception staff. Grounds and common areas were delightful and lovely to have a picnic or quiet drinks at. I'd stay there again. Our room was key lockable with extra lockable cupboards inside (bring your own padlock) we didn't share with anyone else, so didn't have that worry. Our room was well suited for a couple with kids. Showers/Toilets same hallway and kitchen too. We had a double bed, 2 sets of bunks, room was spacious and clean. Bedding and towels were clean and fresh more than enough for us all. We were elevated level so walk up only a few steps (queenslander building) could see our car parked out front. Don't overlook staying here if you're passing through or want an affordable holiday or weekend away with your family. You wouldn't realise this place is tucked away off a main street, surrounded by beautiful old trees and gardens. Fresh coffee, restaurants, shopping, beach, bush walk and street entertainment was right at the doorstep.

Friendly and welcoming. Rooms were very nice and clean and bathrooms were well looked after. Awesome location too. Only downside was we had a broken bed and the walls were very thin.

We loved this hostel another great YHA. The location is excellent and just 2 mins from the main street of Noosa. Has a very lodge like feel but thought it was cute. Lots of places to chill out in and eat food. We had a private room in the main building. The room was basic but clean and had a useful stand to put all of your stuff. We were a bit concerned about no air con but the fan worked fine. Nice staff. We wished we’d stayed longer!

  • 2/5 Emi K. 1 year ago on Google
Cleanliness in the bathroom left a lot to be desired, the showers were just gross. the rooms were okay, brown stains on the bed, it is extremely noisy and the rooms were open, there were bars where animals came through and air. Unbearable in midsummer and cold nights just like that. Another downside is that the sockets are very far away from the bed. Plus no air con

Perfect location, super kind and lovely staff, clean place, tranquil tropical wilderness outside every window, great spaces for working or chilling out, parking right outside. Near beautiful nature walks and the main beach.

Always happy here. Ace location, lovely facilities. Just have to be aware the location comes with noise and this area gets busy in the holidays. Always recommended.

Upon arrival, there's a curtain pulled across and a number to call... You call the number and it rings the otherside of the curtain and a grumpy man gives you a key.... Really poor service. No effort to bring people together and as a result everyone is kind of sheepish with each other.... Hosts set the tone and it could be so much better!!!!

I read a lot reviews about this place, most of them complain about the noise and the clean. To be honest about the noise, the hostel is located in the middle ( I guess ) of Noosa Heads, of course is get noisy after 7 am, if you want a quiet place go somewhere else! Clean: the place is clean, of course you can’t expect of the same service of a 5 stars hotel, is still a hostel, with backpackers and share bathrooms! Especially for the price the hostel is very very clean! The location is magic, the structure per se is amazing, I think respect the Noosa and Queensland mindset, I felt so relax read the book after the beach, looking the sky and hear the birds! Also as I said , is in the middle of everything, 5 min from the beach and the main restaurants/ cafes!

The first accommodation option that came to my mind was this YHA. The building was pretty nice as it was one of the heritage buildings. I completely understand if it was not in the newest condition but still it was so alright as an old building. The staff was nice. Pretty close to to walk to the beach and public area. One thing that I don’t really like is there was no kitchen in the first building. So I had to walk outside the building to get there and when I stayed there was a rainy season. But the rest was alright

  • 3/5 Nicholas E. 1 year ago on Google
The rooms only have fans but are clean and spacious enough. There is no atmosphere in the hostel. It's all very quiet and not really targeted towards young people. It's quite a bit more expensive than other hostels. Supermarket is on the otherside of town but is very close to the beach. Nobody works reception apart from at check in time (2pm). Staff very friendly though
