The Black Volta or Mouhoun is a river that flows through Burkina Faso for approximately 1,352 km to the White Volta in Dagbon, Ghana, the upper end of Lake Volta. The source of the Black Volta is in the Cascades Region of Burkina Faso, close to Mount Tenakourou, the highest point of the country.

This river serves as the boundary between Ghana and two of it's neighbours - Bourkina Faso and Ivory Coast to the north west. The river nonetheless enters the territories of Ghana and forms the boundary between Brong Ahafo and Northern regions of Ghana. This scenario can fully be appreciated and enjoyed at the river crossing at New Longoro in the Brong Ahafo Region and Bamboi in the Northern Region.

The view of the water was very exciting but there's no tourist improvement in the area or any where near the black Volta where travellers can enjoy in addition to the beauty of the black Volta.

The major source of water for the inhabitants of Buipe. Approximately 100km away from Tamale. Great spot for fishing. There is a need to develop the embankments to prevent the flooding incidents.

It's the heart of water source for the northern and savannah regions of Ghana taking its sources from the northeast, upper east regions and Bokina Faso and streams into the Volta lake and finally into the sea through the Volta region

This place needs investors to create recreational facilities along the River banks to attract tourists and more investors and also serve as a place to entertain our selves and cool off after a long and stressful week. It's very hot in this area so such facilities would be a great relief to the people of the community. Thanks for reading.

A great river in Ghana connecting several times and regions especially Northern and Volta regions. It gives employment for a great number of fishermen whilst serving as a means of transportation to travellers. I can't leave out the flourishing businesses of hawkers and vendors if food and other stuff at the various harbours and the banks. Swimming for entertainment and releasing stress is also assured in the black Volta river
