Amazing tour of the batik museum / collection! 🤎🤎🤎 Very reasonably priced at Rp. 35k for adults and 15k for local students. I went alone and my guide Yori (if I remember his name correctly) was great!! He was very informative but also warm, personable, and funny. Thanks again :) - Timing 🕰️: The tour usually takes 45 mins to 1 hour, but mine took 1 and a half cause I asked heaps of questions 😅 So it depends on how curious you are! :) - Accessibility ⚠️♿️: There’s around 10 rooms (from memory) and no seating area so I would recommend this able-bodied people that can stand for long periods of time. Unfortunately, most of the batik pieces are on low platforms so you have to crouch, squat, or bend over to view them which hurt :(( There’s a few steps of stairs to get to each room. You also cannot drink or eat inside so I got a little thirsty and pusing at the end :( The toilets are also a little far from the museum section. - Service: Tour guide was amazing!! But cashier ladies were a little rude lol, didn’t really smile and had no patience for my broken Indonesian 😭😭 TLDR great tour with a little accessibility issues and some minor service hiccups at the start

Very rich collections of batik dating from 18 century. The owner is collecting 10.000 antique batik and only displaying a thousand of them, but it is enough to make us awed. There is a small workshop of batik making process where we can taking photo and of course, being a Danar Hadi, there is chick batik store to purchase a batik or two. If you can visit only one batik museum for life, this is the place you must visit.

(Translated by Google) One of the tourist attractions in the city of Surakarta. A museum that contains a collection of batik husband and mother danar hadi. This place is quite extensive, has to pay an entrance fee, it will be guided later, explained the types of batik. There is batik that has been very long. There are still new. This place also provides a shop to buy batik. Here are also taught how to make batik like a mini workshop. The price paid is according to what is obtained. Inside the museum you should not photograph batik at all. (Original) Salah satu tempat wisata kota surakarta.

Currently the most recommended museum to visit in Surakarta. Air conditioned, great Layout, well kept specimens, and most importantly a museum guide to explain it all to you, all for a fee of Rp.35.000, students get discounts too. The museum exhibits 1200 pieces of batik ranging from 1800s up to the 1960s and 70s, with various styles from Keraton, Pesisir, Dutch, Chinese, and Contemporary Indonesian Batik. You can also learn the intricate process of Batik making, and a mini workshop to try and make one.

Great information about the start of batik and its history, types of batik, the whole process of making batik from start to finish. This is a private collection but the english guide provided all details and our questions were all answered. You can also buy readymade batik shirts and other products or you can buy material and have it made to your fit. Only downside is you may not take pictures or videos. The tour took little over an hour. Time well spent

Great tour of batik collection. The collection is displayed behind the shop, you buy an entrance ticket which is actually a guided tour. The guide in English is really informative, any questions would be answered. One star minus because you can’t go back after finishing the tour. You can’t see all the details.

Okay---look. This is an amazing museum AND an unforgettable experience. Even though visitors are not allowed to take photos (which is entirely fair for a private museum), the guide's knowledge, the stupendous collection of every kinds of batik (I was most impressed with the Batik Peranakan and Batik Keraton Yogya) and the general atmosphere of the building more than make it up. Definitely a must-visit place if you come to Solo, whether or not you like museums. Really.

For IDR35k you get access to the museum with a free tour guide. Our tour guide knew his stuff and while textiles aren't exactly my thing, somehow our guide Gigih Adip made it very interesting, plus my mum absolutely loved it.

The House of Danar Hadi proudly unveils an Integrated Culture Heritage Complex that is destined to become a tourist attraction for the city of Surakarta. It has been founded to preserve and advance the art of batik in Indonesia as part of the national cultural legancy. This integrated tourism center will enhance the attractions to be found in the Central Javanese city, with visitors able to enjoy once again the heritage building nDalem Wuryoningratan, build in the late 19th century and painstakingly restored to its original grandeur by House of Danar Hadi. The Complex will be an arena to witness the development of batik in Indonesia, the process of creating this precious textile and its emergence as part of the contemporary lifestyle. This homage to the history and glory of batik will be found at the nDalem Wuryoningratan, Danar Hadi Batik Museum, Danar Hadi Traditional Batik Showroom and Souvenir and Lounge

It was such a great place to visit. We were greeted by the nice cashier to buy some tickets and proceeded to the museum. We were introduced to the tour guide, Mr. Zubair. He has such a nice and kind vibe, he thoroughly guided us to every piece of the museum without missing a single spot. We even asked a lot of questions with satisfactory answers. The museum itself was a fantastic place with ancient arts and rich history, definitely would recommend to come and check this place out. Once again, special thanks to Mr. Zubair and the fellow staffs for making our visit a great one.

Excellent guided tour in English. Beautiful and extensive collection of batiks plus period furniture and decorative wooden screens. You do however need to have an interest in either art or textiles.

The place is neat, clean, and has quite a nice layout. The main building looks cool although maintenance in the museum could be improved. The guide (forgot his name) gave us tons of knowledge about batik. For a private museum, it has whopping number of batik collections that were mostly in excellent condition despite being 100+ years old. Definitely one of a few decent places to visit in Solo.

My favourite batik museum in Indonesia. The privately-owned House of Danar Hadi offers a big, well-curated and well-maintained collection, tucked inside a namesake shop. A tour guide is included in the entrance fee.

Went there on the weekdays. The museum is a private museum and there's about 1.500 batik on display although they have about 10.000 collections. We spend around 1 hour with Zubair as our tour guide, and he's very helpful and passionate while explaining all the history of Batik, coming out there with a whole new information about Batik and it's philosophy. We can't take a picture in the museum, but at the end of our tour, there's a place where we can take our picture, and Zubair helps take the picture. All in all, it is totally worth the price and experience

We had an amazing private tour with Mutiara which set the tone for our whole day of exploring Solo. She struck the perfect balance of thoroughly explaining the history, cultural importance, and process of batik and answered our many questions perfectly. Her explanations enriched the rest of our travels through Indonesia as we noticed motifs, details, and stylings she had taught us about and could now understand them.

no picture here, becaue it was not allowed. The batik collection is so wide and vary, and they said thats not all, pak susanto (the owner) still have so many more kept in his house But i think the tour taking too much time, it can make your kids bored

When I want to buy an entrance ticket, the women in the cashier was rude, she looked at me and my friend like a bunch of kids who don't have money to buy their product. But hey, we buy it after the tour (because later we go to the showroom)...Even though they change the cashier, still... They are not too polite. But I give 100 to our tour guide. He is friendly, communicative, and polite. I get a bone knowledge batik. The batik collection is also amazing.

We can get lots of information about Batik - Indonesian traditional cloth here. There are totals 10 display rooms that exhibit different types of Batik with its own meaning and values. To get into the museum, we can buy the ticket first in the shop -35, 000 rupiahs per person, and there will be a tour guide guiding us from the beginning till the end. Overall, it's a good experience.

I was looking for a place to spend my time while waiting for my train and decided to go here. The entrance ticket price's IDR 35k. They have extensive collection of batik and the guide was very knowledgable too. If you're in Solo, I really recommend you to visit the museum.

We went to the museum on a Monday at 15ish.. the cost of a ticket is IDR 35K and we got a rabatt to IDR 25K.. There was a really nice and resourceful guide who brought us through almost all rooms, explaining about the philosophy of batik and its process..(I forgot his full name but I remember his name was similar to Gigi) Unfortunately the batik processing which is done in the last roo. Was closed when we reached it (closing time at 1600) so we could not see the making of batik. At the end of the tour, we were brought to the gift and batik shop where one can buy finished clothes or batik fabric. Oh ya, you are actually prohibited to take pictures inside the museum, and once you enter and see the motives of the designs you will actually understand the reason for this prohibit. Batik is surely an art the loval residents keep as sacred culture..

This place is amazing for learning about batik, its history and philosophy and how it has adapted to reflect a changing Indonesia. It is an art form, and this is a museum full of so many wonderful pieces of art. The guide we had was incredibly knowledgeable and really expanded my understanding of batik.

It is a good private museum. There are a lot of batik fabrics and you come not only for seeing the batik, but also learn a lot about batik. Since it is a private museum, you won't be allowed to take any pictures.

Ask for the guided tour. Buy the tickets at the cashier. The guide will tell you all about batik, from their early history, to their usage and the different patterns meaning. Overall, an excellent tour and batik collection.

I went with my family to check out the museum. Upon first encounter, the staff at the shop already came off as unfriendly (not greeting us nor returning back our greetings). The old lady at the cashier whom I took as a tour guide was a bit passive aggressive as well. This was the exact opposite with how she treated a white couple in front of us. We couldn't join the tour along with the couple as she thought that we didn't understand English. I get where she's coming from, but to not even ask us nor offer the possibility for us to join the tour comes off as condescending to me. She also told us that we could just buy something instead of just looking around (this, too, was in a condescending tone). We left, not really feeling welcomed there. It was a pity, since we visited Batik Keris Museum and had a wonderful experience with the staff and the tour guide, and was hoping that we could have a similar experience here. There was also no photography restriction whatsoever at Batik Keris, so I would recommend going there instead.

A very good place to see the history of batik civilization, we got a very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional guide to show us around about history of batik, plus a nice and comfortable restaurant atmosphere next to batik museum, although a bit pricey. Overall, it was a pleasant experience

Wonderful tourist spot that goes through the history of batik in Indonesia and has the largest batik fabric collection in the world. The tour guides speak fluent English - must see spot for international visitors to Solo.
