A great historic place that have many collections related to press in Indonesia, such as newspapers, typewriters, camera, etc. You also can visit the library that air-conditioned and has access to free Wifi. Nowadays, several parts of the building is being renovated and moved.

The National Press Monument (Indonesian: Monumen Pers Nasional) is a monument and museum to the national Indonesian press. Formally established in 1978, more than 20 years after it was first proposed, the monument is located in Surakarta, Central Java, and operated by the Ministry of Communications and Information. The complex consists of an old society building, which was constructed in 1918 and used for the first meeting of the Reporters Association of Indonesia (Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia, or PWI), as well as several subsequent expansions; it is listed as a Cultural Property Of Indonesia. It was quite place. I like the unique architecture of this beautiful building.

This building was known as Societeit Mangkunegaran and was built around 1920's. This is a historical meeting venue used in the time the Netherlands colonized Indonesia. Nowadays, this building is used for storing press archive from the early phase of news making activities in Indonesia until this digital era.

Very nice! their staff is humble and friendly, a right place to learn about Press (or pers) and also the History of it esoecially in Indonesia, they have a lot of collection in area of Press History that I barely can't describe, the photo that I've posted here (the exhibition) is just temporary event. By the history of the building, It's used to a society building back in 1900's century of old Surakarta City (or known as "Solo" city back then). You might get here because it's all free enterance on that day when I visit this place.

No entrance fee, free wifi for 5 hours, too bad the air conditioners were turned off so it was a lil bit too hot inside. You can find lots of old newspaper, including ones from 1880s and 1920s. Oh and it’s under renovation in some other rooms

I went to this place last week. You don't have to pay any cent to enter this place. The museum is quite small but they also have a library. The museum contains dioramas, statues, and old tools that show the history of indonesian pers. As you walk around and go upstairs, you'll also be able to see many of old indonesian newspapers. As a college student and a person who love to design, I can say that this place is worth to visit, either to get some knowledges or to look for references.
