If you want to spend good time for knowledge don't go there. We just visited yesterday and the museum is just too small to visit. Not much things to see in there, very very small compared to other museums i have seen, It doesn't even worth the money of the ticket you buy to see. Many of the equipments inside are broken down or not functional. Made the overall trip boring. If you want to see good museum, visit the one in vadodara.

The Sardar Patel Museum was established in the city of Surat in the year 1890 and has since then has been highly recommended by the people, maintaining a popular position among the Surat tourist attractions. The museum is a multi purpose museum that remains open on all days of the week barring Mondays.

This museum is now part of Science Center. This museum is mostly dedicated to history of Surat. You can spend an hour going through all the artifacts and details. Good if u are interested in history. New place and quite shiny. However, they don't allow photographs - which is a pity. I don't understand why !! They should promote it

Sardar Patel Museum is a national museum in Surat which attracts the majority of tourists’ attention. It was built in the year 1978 by Shri Babubhai Jasbhai Patel. It is located in the Shahibaug area of Surat. This museum has great historical significance. The building was built for the great ruler Shah Jahan in 1622. Later, the building was occupied by the Britishers and they established a staying household for themselves. The great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore also stayed here for some time. When India got independence, this building became the official Raj Bhavan (Governor’s residence) of Gujrat in 1978. Thereafter, the building was transformed into a national memorial dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Some of the best things to enjoy in this museum are the 3D sound, lightings and lasers show. Through these lights and sounds, the history of the Vedic period, the Mughal period and British rule in India are narrated in a tale. Location:Β Shahibaug area, Surat Entry Fees:Β RS-20 (adults), RS-10 (children) Timings:Β 9.30 AM to 5.00 PM

Nice museum but the area around it still developing.. another minus point about this area is No hotel u will get for stay nearby.. only their own tents which are expensive and needa precooking.. we had to stay in one ashram that too we found after hell lot of hurdles.. room rent was only 100 per night so u can imagine the what type of room it was with common toilet bathroom.. only positive thing was instead of sleeping on road or in car we found this place..

It is one of the best museums I have visited so far. There is a lot to learn about Sardar Patel here. We go through the timelines of significant events which took place in Patel ji's life. The best parts were documentary screening and the interactive room downstairs. The cleanliness is not good enough.
