Beautiful place for bird watching. Best time to visit is in the winter season, from Nov-Feb, early in the morning. Great place for large groups, or even a small family trip. Horse riding at the beginning is great, but negotiate for the price.

A must visit location for Nature and bird lovers. Also, Talk directly with the boat drivers as the middlemen would loot you if you're new to the place.

It's apparently better to stop your car a couple of kms before the official entrance and take a walk. The view of the lake is a lot better from there.

Although Nalsarovar is prime location for bird watching in Gujarat, cartel of private boating agency appointed by Government spoiled experience. Government has fixed Rs 220 per person as boating fee for two hours in addition to Entry fess (nearly 75 rs), boating agency persons ask for 3 to 6 times non receiptable more money to 'show you' birds, and when not agreeing to it, they just take to 'Boating' to nearby island. Pls DON'T PLACE this beautiful place if you are not ready to pay ridiculous amount for watching birds. An excellent attraction spoiled by extreme commercialisation and no proper control.

I would have given 5 stars if there was enough water in the lake. When we visited on 11/11/18, the water was so shallow that our boat would touch the soil bed on multiple occasions. Neither there were enough birds.

Good place but expensive. Entry itself was 500 if one visit by car. Not much water during November and found lots of local Bird from Punjab. Migratory birds were also there but mostly on far of islands.

Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary is a stunning natural haven located just an hour's drive away from Ahmedabad. Spread over an area of 120.82 sq km, this sanctuary is a paradise for bird watchers and nature enthusiasts. It is home to more than 250 species of birds including pelicans, flamingos, egrets, herons, cranes, and many more. The history of Nalsarovar dates back to the 15th century when the lake was created as a result of the construction of a check dam across the Sabarmati river. The lake was initially used for irrigation and as a source of drinking water for nearby villages. Over time, the lake became an important habitat for a variety of bird species, and local communities recognized its ecological significance. In the early 20th century, the British colonial administration recognized the importance of Nalsarovar as a wetland ecosystem and established it as a protected area. In 1969, the Gujarat government declared Nalsarovar a bird sanctuary to primarily protect its bird population. The Ramsar Convention designation of Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary in 2012 recognized its ecological importance as a wetland habitat for birds and other wildlife. The designation provides a framework for the conservation and sustainable use of the sanctuary and its surrounding wetlands. It also acknowledges the socio-economic importance of the wetlands to the local communities who depend on them for their livelihoods. The best time to visit Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary is during the winter months from November to February. During this time, the migratory birds flock to the sanctuary in large numbers, creating a spectacular sight for visitors. The sanctuary also has a few resident bird species which can be spotted throughout the year. Overall, a visit to Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary is a great way to unwind and reconnect with nature. The sanctuary's serene atmosphere, breathtaking views, and diverse bird species make it a perfect weekend getaway for families and nature enthusiasts. It is a must-visit destination for anyone visiting Ahmedabad.

👍👍 Vast place to see migratory birds all round the year. Shallow lake with reeds so safe. The boat rates are steep but if you go in a group of 6-8 pax, then it is worth . Best time is said to be Jan or end of May to June No shops or others facilities nearby so carry water and snacks
