I did open jeep safari with my parents and it was the most thrilling experience of our life. Driver and guide (Jignesh) were great. They wanted to make sure we see lions and we did. We saw 2 lions, 2 lionesses and 2 cubs. Gir jungle is beautiful and house other animals like deer, wild boar, peacock etc. The authorities are very well taking care of the area. A must visit for anyone who wants to seek jungle adventure.

Amazing experience! A must visit.. To see the wild life in their own natural habitat is a treat! Make sure you book for the early morning permit to maximize chances of seeing the big cats. The guides are knowledgeable and the whole process of booking the gypsy safari is painless.

We did 5 safaris in the Gir National Park and 1 at Devaliya Park. Planned well in advance to avoid surprises / shocks. The National Park is not divided into zones (unlike some other Parks) but has routes (1 to 13). Routes may have repetitive patches. My wife and I love the jungle experience and we were not disappointed at all. We had 28 lion / lioness / cub sightings in total (in the 5 jungle safaris). These included multiple males / females and 6 cubs. We also sighted a leopard drinking water very close by. Sighted three different types of owls (Spotted, Brown Fish and Scops Owl) and 2 types of Eagles. Many other birds, spotted deer, sambar deer, neelgaay, etc. Try taking different routes (just show your previous safari slip to the official and she / he would be kind enough to allot a new route). Expect some repetition in the route but enjoy the jungle feel! We tried all three slots - 6 to 9, 9 to 12 and 4 to 7 and had sightings in all three. Fantastic guides and drivers. Heartening was to see the officials take care of the animals in the jungle. We have also been to Kanha and Bandhavgarh - trust me - Gir will not disappoint. In fact, the experience was way beyond our expectations!

Our recent visit to Gir National Park, renowned as the haven for Asiatic Lions, left us in awe of the rich biodiversity and captivating wildlife experiences it offers. Spread over 8 districts, this jungle paradise is home to approximately 674 lions, along with a diverse range of species, including hyenas, leopards, spotted deer, peacocks, nilgais, eagles, monkeys, and an array of birds. Navigating through the vast wilderness is made convenient with 13 well-organized routes, and visitors have the option of exploring aboard Gypsy or Bolero vehicles. The provision of knowledgeable guides and skilled drivers enhances the safari experience, providing insights into the park's flora and fauna. Environmental consciousness is evident in the ban on plastic bottles, with the park offering stainless steel water bottles at a nominal cost of 10 rupees—a commendable effort to promote sustainable practices. For a seamless experience, it's advisable to book permits online through the official website, ensuring a hassle-free entry into this natural haven. The souvenir shop adds another dimension to the visit, boasting an impressive collection of t-shirts, jackets, caps, and more, all at budget-friendly prices. To make the most of your safari, plan at least one excursion in the evening and another at dawn. Witnessing lions and other animals in their natural habitat is a breathtaking experience—we had the privilege of observing a 7-8 years old lion and a newborn deer just two days old. The staff's courtesy and commitment to preserving the park's integrity contribute to the overall positive atmosphere. Gir National Park is not merely a destination; it's an immersive journey into the wild, offering memories that will linger long after your safari concludes. Enjoy every moment of your jungle adventure!

Visited the place 2 weeks back and it was just awesome. We had booked permits a month before from the official forest department gujrat website, and booked the safari Jeep and guide on the day before the safari. The overall experience was smooth. The safari itself was enjoyable. I do recommend doing multiple safari at different times as you will see many animals up and about based on the time of the day.

Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary, also known as Sasan Gir, is a forest, national park, and wildlufe sanctuary near Talala Gir in Gujarat, India. This is the only remaining place for the Asiatic Lions. The Sanctuary is a part of Kathiawar-Gir dry deciduous forests eco region. It was established in 1965 in the erstwhile Nawab of Junagarh's private hunting area, with a total area of 1412 sq km, of which 258 sq km is fully protected as national park and 1153 sq km as wildlife sanctuary. Best time for wildlife spotting is April and May. The preservation of these lions was initiated by the Nawabs of Junagarh when they were just about to enter the extinction phase due to hunting. A must visit place , you'll enjoy the ride. You can also spot other important wildlife forms like leopard, chausingha, spotted deer, hyena, sambar deer and chinkara.

Only place in Asia where lions still exist. Book your tickets at the entry gate and it would take about 2 hours to complete the route on Jeep Safari with a guide. There are five routes, any one of them will be assigned to you. Must visit place once in lifetime as specially if you are wildlife lover.

Great trip but we could go only to Devalia and not to Gir proper which was closed due to rains. We could spot a lion family with the dad and mother resting at some distance from each other and the baby shuttling between the two . Very touching sight

Awesome experience watching lions in natural habitat than in zoos. Gir gives you a unique experience if you take the safari in the home of Asiatic lion. The safari is conducted in morning 6am &9am and in the evening at 3.30pm. It lasts for about 3 hours and takes 45kms sometimes through dense tropical forest. The safari is professionally conducted and there are multiple routes for each vehicle. The sighting of lion is pure luck though. The driver and guide for each vehicle behaved professionally and patiently explained the details of area which is covered during safari. Cost will come to approx 5000/- INR for a family of 4. Booking online is highly recommended. You cannot carry plastic items but instead they provide bottles at 10/- INR at the counter which can be returned after safari.

To spot the roaming lions in the wild is thrilling and the Gir National forest is the place for it. The Asiatic lions are found and conserved in this wildlife sanctuary of total 1412 square kilometers of which 258 sq kilometers forms the core area. This has total 523 lions, 300 leopards, Sambar deers, Chowsingha deers, jackals, striped hyena, India Fox and more than 200 species of birds. The Gir lion tour or safari is crafted for the tourists for thrilling experience to watch the rare lions roaming in the wild. There are many resorts, hotels and lodges for the tourists around here. We stayed in Lagdee Habitat resort with all our 30 family members and had a great time. I thought the forest must be very dense and lush green but it was dry, sparse and deciduous. Lots of tourists, too much traffic and hundreds of hotels indicate that this place is getting commercialized very fast.

Gir Forest National Park is a wildlife sanctuary in Gujarat, western India. It was established to protect Asiatic lions, who frequent the fenced-off Devalia Safari Park, along with leopards and antelopes. Gir Jungle Trail, outside the fenced area, traverses deciduous forest and is home to wildlife including vultures and pythons. The Kamleshwar Dam has marsh crocodiles and birds, such as Indian skimmers and pelicans.

It's a best place in Junagadh-Gujarat-INDIA and when you travel in any part of this region or passing through this region than you should stay 1 or 2 days in junagadh or near by sasan area, This Gir forest is around 2Km from Sasan and 35 Km from Junagadh you can reach by car with in 30 to 40 minute from junagadh, and for staying there is a best place named Hotel Lotus, Near railway station, Junagadh. hotel people can arrange everything for you if you want to 1 day trip to Gri forest , as per my views must visit and kids love that place. for food and all you get good restaurant at Gir forest, also there are hotel welcome Taj Group. you can stay over night there also. in short must look and visit..We stayed at the Taj property and had asked them to arrange a jeep safari. This needs permission from the govt so do plan ahead of time. Book for early morning safari for a better chance of seeing lions. In general the forest not very dense or green, it's dry and pretty monotonous due to almost one or two vegetation types mainly. Seeing lions, don't expect a grand show or some thing. If you get to see one or two lions even at a distance consider yourself lucky. We went 2 times. Once in the jeep, this was good. The second time we were told that the govt runs buses with 16 people in each bus and they take you exactly where the lions are. I consider it quite useless. And hand pitiable part is that there are people in the bus that have waited for almost 6-7 hours in a line to see the lions and they are very anxious to see them. You do get to see, but not very clear due to the way the bus is built. Instead there is a nearby reserve, devaliya. Just go there and you will surely see lions much more closer than even in Gir.First day experience at Gir Its 2.30am. Sleeping cozily and all by myself in a 3-bed tent, I am woken up to alarm calls of deer. They are not too close, yet I can hear them as if they were just a few hundred meters away. They come from 3 different qaurters of the forest. The alarm calls stop and I resume sleep. Its 5am now. I am woken up to alarm calls of deer again, and in the distance, I hear the lions sounding their characteristic territorial calls. This atmosphere reminds of the famous Val Kilmer movie, "The Ghost and the Darkness". I seem to be the only outsider and the manager of the resort Sailesh Bhai is surprised that I have come all the way from Bangalore to see lions. How Safari is Booked There are two ways of booking your safari; 1. Speak with your tour operator. He will get a person to go and hold a place in the queue. At 2.30am, you need to wake up and replace him to purchase the tickets. If you have a driver with you or a tour guide operating the tour for you, you don't have to wake up so early. 2. You can book your safari online. The disadvantage some persons feel is that they make new friends and if they want to take them along for a safari, it will not be possible. In such cases, a physical booking on the spot is beneficial. Remember, you cannot add persons physically once you have done an online booking.

We visited Gir national park in the 1st week of January for a 3nights stay. Did 5 open jeep safaris and had an wonderful experience to share. The trip actually happened by chance! We initially planned to visit tadoba which was due for a long time.. But by the time we decided and gathered all resources to book, I guess we were a couple of days late as all the options was full in terms of safari. Disappointed we were thinking of options and was closing in for a hill station near goa, when my wife chanced upon Gir as an option. I had seen tigers before in other national parks but lions and that to asiatic lion immediately exited me and at once started looking for options. Again I felt I must have missed out on safari bookings as this is heavy tourist time but to my surprise there was availability. I believe owing to covid 19 and restriction of foreign nationals must be the reason behind this availability. We at once booked all safaris, resort to stay and travel to avoid any mishaps that may happen. With lots of expectations and fully geared up (it was extremely cold in the morning)  we went for our 1st safari. At the entrance gate when our guide stopped to show our permits, we heard the roar of a lion at a close distance.. It's was really exciting and we knew that the next 3 days is going to be lot of fun.. During the 5 safaris (gate no 10, 6,7, 12 & 4) we did get to see 8 set of lions (16 individual in total) 2 leopards, crocodile, jackals, nilguys, wild boars, countless deers both spotted and Sambar deer, number of birds including 2 different types of owls and hawks. I mean we couldn't have asked for anyone more. Lioness sitting at a distance of 10m with its mate a bit far away with a half eaten Buffalo is the highlight of this trip.. We wished to see the very very elusive stripped hyena but I guess it's ok, you can't get everything that you want. Overall I feel it's a complete trip with lots of memories to charish for a long long time.

A national park is a park in use for conservation purposes, created and protected by national governments. Often it is a reserve of natural, semi-natural, or developed land that a sovereign state declares or owns. Although individual nations designate their own national parks differently, there is a common idea: the conservation of 'wild nature' for posterity and as a symbol of national pride. An international organization, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and its World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA), has defined "National Park" as its Category II type of protected areas.According to the IUCN, 6,555 national parks worldwide met its criteria in 2006. IUCN is still discussing the parameters of defining a national park. While this type of national park had been proposed previously, the United States established the first "public park or pleasuring-ground for the benefit and enjoyment of the people", Yellowstone National Park, in 1872. Although Yellowstone was not officially termed a "national park" in its establishing law, it was always termed such in practice[5] and is widely held to be the first and oldest national park in the world. However, the Tobago Main Ridge Forest Reserve (established in 1776), and the area surrounding Bogd Khan Uul Mountain (1778) are seen as the oldest legally protected areas, predating Yellowstone by nearly a century.

I had a bad experience because I went from a bus which is waste of money it was 190 rupees for Indian and for foreigners it is 400 rupees it was a 20 min trip in which I only say some lions, some deers and some cheetahs nothing else. Your money is only worth if you go by a jeep which is about 4000 rupees but you will see all the animals and your money will be worth in the jeep there will be space of about 6 people

Gir Lion Park in Gujarat is the only national park where only jeep safari option is available. When on a jeep safari the lions can be seen roaming freely in their natural habitat. The best time to spot the lions is during dawn and dusk. Make sure to act according to the guide’s advice.

Sasan Gir National Park is located in the state of Gujarat in west-central India. Wide area of hilly, dry weed serves as a wildlife sanctuary for the Asiatic lion claimed to be roaming free. It's ecosystem makes it a preferred habitat for other animals, as well, like jackals, leopards, antelope, and deer. The seasonal rivers and four human-made reservoirs or dam here are home to crocodiles. These watering holes attract over 300 species of resident birds, as well. Large number of visitors come to this park each year though an expensive trip to attend a must list safari tour hoping to see if they can spot them face-to-face with Asiatic lions in the arena. Lions in general are nocturnal and very royal and you may be disappointed if you may not trace them, guide are not that great help either at times. There are designated 12 routes i believe and your keep.may not be allowed to deviate if lions are spotted not your designated route. Don't worry and be obsessed if you do not spot them in gir , go to devaliya zoo near by where you will spot the lions in the open and it is much much cheaper than highly marketed or gimmick of gir. Thank me later when u realize that you pay 6500 inr for 2 to 3 hours on a jeep and do not spot lions and then for 290 per person on bus ride within 15 mins spot lions in devaliya. Lions you see in the photos are from devaliya.

Gir forest is a nature lovers paradise to watch lions. about 45 km from Shri Somnath temple it transports you to a different world. Book a safari in advance and get to the forest office meeting point. Chose early morning 6.00 am, 9.00 am or afternoon 3.00 pm safaris. We were lucky to catch a pride of lions, many deer, a peacock and a fox. There are well mapped numbered routes in the park and guides are good. Please do not spoil the beauty by throwing wrappers and plastic in park.

It is a great place to see the wild animals at their natural abode. It is sure to see different types of deers, birds, etc. But the opportunity to see lion depends on luck. But the chances are high if you book the early morning safari followd by the evening one compared to the mid day one. Slots and safari can be booked online and the process is very much hassle free. The drivers and guides are also very experienced. It is always better to take binoculars and good camera if you want to capture the moments.

Gir National Park is a pride of India because it has been a shelter of Asia’s last wild lions since 1965. The park is located 65 km in the south-east direction of Junagadh and stretched over a massive of 1150 sq. Km of the area. According to the reports, the numbers of lions in this park have increased from 200 to 400 and many tourists come here just to see them walking wildly. The sanctuary is also home to some other rare species like leopards, antelopes, large deer, gazelle, and wild boars.

It was a very nice moment for me.It totally depends on your luck,if its your day then you will see see many Lion and lioness and their cubs playing around them. One thing i want to tell you guys if you really want to visit the forest then the preferable time is in the early morning or in the evening around 4-6. At that time lions were come up for drinking water. Not only Lions you also see deer’s,peacocks, Crocodile and many more. And lastly again it depends on your luck because few years back when i come here i got nothing to see in-fact my guide told me that last time they saw 10 days before a lion then today is my luck that i have seen many lions. Best of luck 🤗if you are going.

Gir National Park : The Majestic Home Of The Royal King : Besides Africa, Gir National Park in Gujarat is the only place in the world where you can spot lions roaming free in the wild. The real discovery channel of India is situated approximately 65 Kms South East of Junagarh District. The Government notified the large geographical extent of Sasan Gir as wildlife sanctuary on 18th September, 1965 in order to conserve the Asiatic Lion. It covers total area of 1412 square kilometers of which 258 Km forms the core area of the National Park. Indiscriminate hunting by the people of Junagarh led to their decrease in population drastically, while they were completely wiped out from the other parts of Asia. It was the kind effort of Nawabs of Junagarh who protected the queen royalty in his own private hunting grounds. Later in due course of time Department of Forest Officials came forward to protect the world’s most threatened species. From a population of approximately 20 lions in 1913, they have risen to a comfortable 523 according to 2015 census. There are 106 male, 201 female and 213 sub-adult lions in the wilderness of these four districts.

Excellent lion sanctuary in Southern Gujarat. This is incredibly well maintained and you go around in the official Jeeps provided by the government. We saw scores of lions in their natural habitat. We were also fortunate to see a lioness with her cubs. We also saw a fully grown and lone lion. He seemed to be nonchalantly strolling without paying any attention to us! King of the jungle, indeed!!

The forest open jeep safari is a good one especially for kids. You can witness a variety of deer species, wild buffalos, variety of peacock species and several other birds. Earlier the safari, more the chances for witnessing Asiatic lions. The 6 am slot and the evening slots are the perfect ones. Don't go for afternoon slots as the probability of witnessing lions are mere. A cap and glasses are highly suggested Since it's an open jeep safari your hair will get drizzy due to the sand and dusts on the safari routes.

Gir National Park and Sanctuary has a state-of-the-art landing facility called Singh Sadan for visitors. In addition, an information center is run by the Forest Department at Gir National Park and Sanctuary to provide all the information and adequate guidance to the tourists. A jeep safari and a guide can be hired from Singh Sadan to go for a walk in the forest. For this, the following 6 tourist routes have been announced by the Forest Department. One hour travel is allowed on one route. Depending on the season and weather, the trip is only allowed during certain parts of the day (8 to 9, 9 to 11 in the morning, 5 to 6 and 7 to 8 in the evening).

This west facing temple is the most important Vaishnava temple at Bhubaneswar which otherwise mostly has Shaiva temples. This temple is said to be the place where Shiva waited for Vishnu while the latter granted permission to the former to take abode at Ekamra-kshetra. The images enshrined here are taken as the representative of Lord Vishnu. In accordance to this belief, no pilgrim is allowed to perform any religious duty in the town without first obtaining their sanction. Even today, it is a common practice that a pilgrim first visits Ananta-Vasudeva, and then only they start their pilgrimage. The temple with its subsidiary shrines is located within a walled compound. The main temple consists of a deul, jagamohana, nata-mandapa and bhoga-mandapa, all units aligned on a single east-west axis. The nata-mandapa and bhoga-mandapa are later additions. Opposite to each central niche of the main deul, a subsidiary shrine is placed, only one remains in situ.

Gir National Park, also known as Sasan Gir, is a renowned wildlife sanctuary located in the state of Gujarat, India. It is one of the most important protected areas in Asia and is particularly famous for being the last refuge of the Asiatic lions. Gir National Park is situated in the Junagadh district of Gujarat, in the southwestern part of India. The park is primarily known for its population of Asiatic lions (Panthera leo persica). It is estimated that around 500 lions reside within the park and its surrounding areas. Apart from lions, Gir is also home to various other mammal species such as leopards, Indian elephants, Indian gazelles (chinkara), wild boars, striped hyenas, and more. Additionally, the park hosts a rich diversity of bird species, including the critically endangered white-backed and long-billed vultures. The park features a mix of dry deciduous forests, savannah-like grasslands, and rocky hills. Acacia trees, teak, flame of the forest, and other plant species are found throughout the area. Gir National Park was established in 1965 with the aim of conserving the endangered Asiatic lion population. The park has been successful in its conservation efforts, with the lion population gradually increasing over the years. The park is actively involved in lion monitoring, habitat management, anti-poaching measures, and community participation in conservation programs. Gir National Park attracts numerous wildlife enthusiasts, nature lovers, and photographers from around the world. Safari tours are available in designated zones of the park, allowing visitors to explore and observe the wildlife. It is important to follow the park's guidelines and maintain a safe distance from the animals for both their well-being and visitors' safety. Visitors are required to obtain permits to enter the park and participate in safari tours. These permits can be obtained online or from the park authorities. Gir National Park holds significant ecological and cultural value, providing a crucial habitat for the endangered Asiatic lions and supporting a diverse range of wildlife. It serves as a symbol of successful conservation efforts and offers a unique experience for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers.

Gir National park is worldwide known for conservation of Asiatic lions.Gir National Park & Sanctuary is one of those few parks in India which are very well - managed in terms of tourist facilities as well as wildlife conservation.Out of the entire Gir, about 10% of the geographical area is allocated for tourists visiting Gir. As of now, the tourism zone is divided into 13 routes most of which overlap with each other or are reverse of one another.

As you would know that Gir National Park is particularly famous for the Asiatic Lion which only found here. Visiting the Gir forest can be one of your greatest experiences of life. You have a very fair chance of witnessing the lion by your very own eyes and enjoy its own. The guides and the drivers are pretty much very helpful and are expert at spotting creatures a normal person can't spot. We saw the Asiatic Lion King and honestly I was delighted. Seeing the same in television can be very boring but seeing them live is unique on its own.

The Gir National Park - The largest compact track of dry deciduous forest in the semi - aird western part of India is the last abode of the Big and Regal Predator Asiatic Lion (Panthera leo persica), an endangered animal species! Gir National Park, Saurashtra, Gujarat has a topography made of successive rugged ridges, isolated hills, plateaus and valleys! Besides, being the last abode of Asiatic Lion, Gir National Park forms a unique habitat for many mammals, reptiles, birds and insects species along with rich variety of flora!

Do book ticket online before visiting, per day 50 safaris allowed per one session, there are 3 sessions but people over there mostly recommend morning session.. here it is open forest but partially customized for safari and they do different routes ,, spotting the lion its all based on luck, it totally 3hrs trip starting with vehicle moving on dam wall would be a best experience over water a flow on one side and dam fully filled one another side.. but spotting a lion would be a difficult .. because we are allowed only 3% of total forest area.. but you can see tribal people living in forest

Highly recommended for any one. You will get to see Lions upclose. It’s well organised and one of the best safari in India. Permits are online and prices are fixed so you don’t have to go through any hassle of bargaining. Do make a visit to devalia as well but before you go to main safari This is a wonderful park We found a knowledgeable guide whose company we enjoyed immensely Two safaris again evening and night and were not disappointed There is some many wild animals and birdlife ... a feast of nature Was unimpressed with my morning safari driver who openly argued with the guide wanting to do his own thing and just drive around with the other jeeps. Even drove away from a lion that we were observing All the same we explored away from the crowd and had some good sightings including the elusive leopard sitting on a fresh kill in the undergrowth Will visit again another time. Almost guaranteed to see a lion (but you must take more than one safari) This is a well managed special place Tip: keep a keen eye because there have been pangolin in the region

The Gir National Park is famous for its thriving population of the Asiatic Lions and is major protected wildlife reserve in the State of Gujarat. If you go through the official booking counter for safari at Devaliya national park, the guide surely tries to spot the lion, they do have wireless with them by which all the guards stays in contact and takes tourists to the spot where lions are there. Even all these, there is no 100% surity. Out of six times I have visited the National park, four times we have spotted lion. If the lions are too deep in bushes or forest area and as disembarkation from vehicle is not allowed, you may not be able to see the lion. Optionally to view lions for sure, you can visit interpretation zone which is a few kilometres away from National park. The bus takes visitors in reserved area and lions are to be spotted here for sure, as this is a very small covered area.

In the 19th century, the rulers of Indian princely states used to invite the British colonists for hunting expeditions. At the end of the 19th century, only about a dozen Asiatic lions were left in India, all of them in the Gir Forest, which was part of the nawab of Junagadh's private hunting grounds. British viceroys brought the drastic decline of the lion population in Gir to the attention of the Nawab of Junagadh, who established the sanctuary. Today, it is the only area in asia where Asiatic lions occur and is considered one of the most important protected areas in Asia because of its biodiversity. The Gir ecosystem with its diverse flora and fauna is protected as a result of the efforts of the government forest department, wildlife activists and NGOs. It is now considered the jewel of Gujarat's ecological resources. The 14th Asiatic Lion Census 2015 was conducted in May 2015. In 2015, the population was 523 (27% up compared to previous census in 2010). The population was 411 in 2010 and 359 in 2005. The lion population in Junagadh District was 268 individuals, 44 in Gir Somnath District, 174 in Amreli District , and 37 in Bhavangar District. There are 109 males, 201 females and 213 cubs.

A great place for nature/animal lovers. The only place outside Africa where you can see lions in the wild. The safaris are well organised. Vivid is making things a bit difficult at the moment.

Nothing to say exceptional about the Gir National park as it is famous for its existing wildlife and management. With their tremendous efforts, they have been successful in increasing the population of the Asian Lion.

Only book from government site. girlion.gujarat.gov.in Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary, also known as Sasan Gir, is a forest and wildlife sanctuary near Talala Gir in Gujarat, India. It was established in 1965, with a total area of 1,412 km, of which 258 km is fully protected as national park and 1,153 km as wildlife sanctuary. It is part of the Khathiar-Gir dry deciduous forests ecoregion. Gir National Park is closed from 16 June to 15 October every year. The best time to visit it is between December and March. Although it is very hot in April and May, these are the best months for wildlife viewing and photography.

Gypsy Ride was amazing. Informative guide and interactive driver. Little chaotic and unorganised behaviour at ticket counter. They allot guide and gypsy randomly after you give the online ticket which you booked prior to your visit to safari. You need to book ticket only online, for indian its 400/- per person. Gypsy and guide price is 1700+400=2100/-, which needs to be paid in cash directly at the counter at centre. Additional 20/- you can get a water bottle which needs to return back after safari is over. Note : Book hotel on main road leading to GIR National Park, other hotels in interior of village area are hard to navigate because of inaccessible road or bad road conditions. And after 6pm roads going to GIZ & GIR are closed from checkpost.

It was a nice experience riding an open jeep safari but could not spot any lions. The long and hectic travel holds us anxious about getting to spot a lion. Though, we can spot Deers and Sambhars (which can be seen anywhere). Might not visit again.

Gir Jungle, located in Gujarat, India, is a beautiful destination for nature enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. It is home to the endangered Asiatic lion, and visitors can observe numerous other wildlife species on safari tours. The jungle's rugged terrain, waterfalls, and nearby tribal villages provide visitors with a unique and unforgettable experience. Gir Jungle is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in India's natural heritage.

Beautiful experience. We visited from Kolkata. Drove down to Gir from Baroda, took about 8 hrs. We visited both Devalia national park and Gir national park on the same day. Devalia in the morning, Gir in the late afternoon. We saw a whole lion family in Devalia, and about 14-15 lions and lioness in Gir. The Gir safari was outstanding, very raw. We also watched a lots of birds, deers, blue buffalo and boars. Our driver and guide were fantastic, walked us through the history and geography of the forest. We got some great pictures. The safari was for 3 hrs, it was well worth it. I highly recommend this trip to everyone.

One of the popular national parks of India, was busy when we visited last week. Though our booking was done and the fees where nominal, the place was crowded with brokers milling around trying to make few extra bucks. We got a brand new vehicle (Mahindra ?) with a good guide, but the challenge was language. Our guide could speak only in Hindi with us which most in my family couldn't follow. This experience could be improved with translation devices or recorded pods. Our Safari was for three hours and we almost didn't see any Lion, but got lucky as we were exiting the forest. We saw a lion resting and ignored totally. Good place, but visitor amenities can be improved significantly.

Had visited Gir national park recently dedicated national park for Asiatic Lions. Gir as a forest has to offer a wide range of animals like lions, deers, leopard and brown fish, and Scops, owl Eagles, and other birds, spotted deer, sambar deer, neel gai , peacock and fox. Booking - Slots and safari can be booked online, and the process is very much hassle free. Guides and drivers - The drivers and guides are also very experienced. It was good to see the officials take care of the animals in the jungle. No plastic water bottles are allowed inside the park, and they have steel bottles available on a nominal charge. Good arrangements and clean toilet facilities are available. There is a shop that sells souvenirs related to the National Park Suggestions- I would recommend to book early morning safari to increase your chances of spotting lions. Carry binoculars and good camera if you want to capture the moments.
