It's a must visit place if you're a history and arts lover, or UPSC civil services aspirant. A well preserved mummy is kept there for display from very close. All the real things are there who's picture is there in the history books like coins of ancient times, Terracotta seals of indus valley civilization, clothes, arms, jewellery. Paintings are there and French painting just catch the attention as they look so real. In science section, skeleton of various animals are there like elephant, whales and others. Preserved animals and their body parts are also there. Photography is not allowed there. At least a day is needed for detailed visit, otherwise 1-2 hours are sufficient.

The musium is vast in area and collection of historical as well as social items and requires minimum three hours to see entire section of ground floor, first floor and child section and whale fish skeleton section. The collection of antiques are large displayed by information in detail. The stone age also informative. All types of weapons used by our ancestors are kept in musium. Explaing the things in few lines is very difficult. Guide service is there. Must visit to see glory of our country.

The entry fee of Rs 100 per person is unusually high for a government museum. Most people just returned after hearing such high entrance charge. The collection is dynamic and extensive for the standards of Gujarat. They don't allow photography inside. Picture gallery is the most amazing part of this museum as well as Egyptian mummy. Most Babylonian artefacts are copies from original.

Beautiful place to spent time with family and friends. Entry ticket to museum and art gallery was ₹100/- for adult and free upto the age of 10years. The museum was divided into various sections like zoological section, art and artifacts section, Egyptian section, Islamic section, etc. The most interesting section was the zoological section where different kinds of birds and animals were preserved in mummified form. One could see trophies of lions, tigers, leopards etc. The painting section was divided into modern and ancient. In the middle of each painting Hall their was a beautiful nude female sculptures with their sharp curves. Also skeleton of blue whale is worth watching. Only the major drawback is the recruitment of dedicated staff members who could guide the visting tourists. Else everything is fine.

The building is a nice looking, colonial days structure. It is clean and well maintained. There's a lot to see and admire! Beautiful stone carvings, paintings, artifacts, natural history, royalty, etc. Sadly, no photography is permitted inside the building. The staff is helpful, available and alert in all galleries. Certainly worth a visit!

TLDR; Tickets: Indians: Rs 100 , Foreigners Rs 250 Reserve lots of time to go through weapons, artifacts, paintings, animal preserves, blue whale skeleton etc. Unfortunately, they didn't allow inside pics at that time... although the website says, you can take pictures after a nominal fees of Rs 50. Full review: The Baroda Museum & Picture Gallery is a hidden gem that truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I stepped foot inside, I was captivated by the rich history and cultural heritage that this place has to offer. The museum is beautifully laid out, with a perfect balance of artifacts, paintings, and sculptures. The collection is vast and diverse, showcasing everything from ancient manuscripts to contemporary art pieces. It's truly fascinating to see how the museum has carefully curated each exhibit to provide visitors with a comprehensive understanding of the region's history. One of the highlights for me was the picture gallery, which houses an impressive collection of paintings by renowned Indian and European artists. The detailed descriptions accompanying each painting were informative and enhanced my appreciation for the artworks. The other highlight was of course the animal kingdom, insects, their remains, skeletons ( blue whale) etc. The museum also boasts a magnificent collection of artifacts, including coins, jewelry, and weaponry. It's incredible to see these tangible pieces of history up-close and personal, and it's clear that the museum takes great pride in preserving and displaying these valuable items. Furthermore, the staff at the Baroda Museum & Picture Gallery were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their work. They were more than willing to answer any questions and engage visitors in conversations about the exhibits. Their enthusiasm was infectious and added to the overall experience. The museum itself is well-maintained and provides a peaceful atmosphere for exploration. The architecture is stunning, and the building itself is a work of art. The well-manicured gardens surrounding the museum also offer a serene environment for a leisurely stroll, allowing visitors to take a break and soak in the beauty of their surroundings. Overall, my visit to the Baroda Museum & Picture Gallery was a truly enriching experience. It's a place that showcases the rich cultural heritage of the region in a thoughtful and engaging manner. Whether you're a history buff, an art lover, or simply curious about the world around you, this museum is definitely worth a visit.

It was great, big and plenty of pictures and objects related to many subjects (History, Science, Zoology, Botany and many more). I enjoyed during my visit but one thing is negative about it and that is tickets price which was 10 rupees in around 2019 and now it is 100 rupees. I think, it's very expensive for students to pay 100 rupees. It should be around 30 to 50. This is the only reason due to which I have given 4 stars otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

A perfect place to spend your entire afternoon. Such a thrilling and enriching experience. The building is very peaceful and well designed. The exhibits are well curated (sections on historic exhibits on Indian and other countries, minerals, birds, animals, aquatic life, the picture gallery, and so much more). A perfect place to gain knowledge and immerse yourself in art, history, and well the ambience. Photography is not allowed inside.. which I think is a good rule so yoh focus on the exhibits and not on taking pictures.

The entry ticket for museum costs 100 rupees for Indian citizens and 250 for foreign nationals. Photography, videography, and even talking on the phone is prohibited inside the museum. They have plenty of good artifacts to see inside the museum. There are sections dedicated to pieces from Burma, Japan, China, Egypt, and many other places. The labelling of many objects or artworks are unclear. The labels should be updated. Some exhibits had labels only in Gujarati. The European Picture Gallery had QR codes with each work but taking photographs is prohibited so I'm not sure why they even have the QR codes there. Overall the museum has many varieties of exhibits that are worth seeing.

"Visiting the Baroda Museum and Art Gallery was an unforgettable experience! The collection is truly impressive, with a wide variety of art and historical artifacts from different eras and cultures. It's a peaceful and welcoming space that offers a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, ready to assist with any questions or provide additional information. recently had the pleasure of visiting the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery, a gem under the Government of Gujarat. Stepping into this cultural treasure trove was a journey back in time. The museum's rich history, founded by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III, reflects his vision for education and prosperity. The Indo-Saracenic architecture, a blend of Indian and Islamic styles, adds to the charm. The meticulous preservation of artifacts is commendable. Although photography inside is restricted, it ensures the sanctity of the exhibits. The staff's vigilance in maintaining decorum adds to the experience. Every corner tells a story, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts. I left with a profound appreciation for the cultural heritage of Gujarat. A truly enriching experience!

Pretty huge place, may easily take 3-4 hours+ for a museum enthusiast. Minimum 1.5 hours worth. Collection is huge, impressive, well-displayed and information given along side is pretty good. The only con was - there is no focus or theme to the place. It is more like a random assortment of zoology, textile, ancient artifacts, local culture, and weapons. Separate halls have different themes but the overall museum does not.

Okish place to visit, the ticket is Rs.100 per person above 5yr & the whole place is not air-conditioned so too hot on summer days thus plan before u go, the place is filled with items from all the different era but surprisingly I don't see more of Indian History its was all french & European with a mix of British causes it was made by British maybe... So that left me a little disappointed but the fossil of old animals even from jurassic era were on display which will be just gr8 for children & the main attraction was sitting in a basement, the blue whale skeleton worth watching tha once...
