Visited Mar 2022. Enough has been written here about this place. I'll just add this : - when you get there figure out how a large banyan tree seems to be growing on the first floor. - wish people would not litter. wadhwan admin needs to clean this place. Pics attached.

We went to the place by looking after the photos on map, but when we reached we found its somewhat like abandoned place, no one was there, and construction for most of the part left over, no cleanliness, nothing was there just an abandoned hawa mahal. No tickets, no visiting fee, no security, carry your water bottle as ther is no shops around. You can take beautiful pictures there like we did.

Never knew India has 2 HAWA MAHALS. The half constructed, stone structure build at the bank of a lotus pond outside the walled town of Vadhavan in Surendranagar district is a marvel of ancient times. The beautiful stone arches, rhythm of columns and the resultant volume are matters of fascination in the structure. Beautiful site to visit if you're in Surendranagar district. Also, beware of Snakes, some have found a home in the cracks.

Poorly maintained place. Local government or administrative officer must take care of cleanliness of this place. Walls and pillars are messed up with the markings and names written on it.

Hawa Mahal, 'the wind palace’ was built during the era of Jhala rulers. Even though it was an ambitious project with ultimate craftsmanship, the work was left incomplete. The part which is incomplete is outside the actual fort and is in different stages of construction along with the study of architectural designs, which were stopped midway. These give a glimpse into the style of architecture used by the artisans in erecting Hawa Mahal. In the present day also, many of the Sompura artisans whose community built Hawa mahal are seen involved in carvings and cutting of sculptures for various Hindu and Jain temple projects. [Sompura Salat community was one of the Brahmin communities in Gujarat who were master artisans. They built famous Somnath Temple. In recent years, these artisans have been called upon for restoration work of various temples in Gujarat as well as in other parts of India, and also building new temples.]

Good place and beautiful architecture and pillar design.... Cleanliness is very poorly maintained in Gujarat as every heritage property premise one can find tons of filth and garbage... Open drains and severage is all what u find in small districts and towns. Modis swachh Bharat is not applicable to his state where he has been CM for decade and more.... Just eyewash nothing more....

An ancient monument depicting a rest place for pedestrian travellers years ago. Though the original building is excellent the upkeep and maintenance is poor. Local sanitation is horrible. There were no guards nor guides around which could be reason that a lot of stones have gaps in them. Despite being a location of historical monument this mostly treated as a selfi point by the youth. However the place is good for bird watching and on an average at least two dozen species can be sighted plus a few butterflies. The ASI could do better in preservation of this monument and also put up some sign boards and information. At least a guard may be posted at this location. There is no entry fee here. Further this place is not wheel chair accessible. No ramps. No brialle signs either making it difficult for all persons with disabilities. Senior citizens too will find this place disappointing.

Beautiful piece of architecture in Surendranagar. Two hawa mahals are located in India, One in Rajasthan and other one being in Surendranagar, Gujarat. The hawa mahal is well built and is very huge. It needs to be maintained
