Believe the hype, the chicken here is exceptional. I came here on on a Friday night around 5:30pm and ordered a whole chicken with large chips. The boss was very generous with the chips that it was falling out of the paper bag and into the plastic bag. Excellent problem to have. The whole chicken is cut into 8 pieces for your convenience. Excellent seasoning of rosemary, chicken salt and olive oil. But not so oily that the plastic bag and your hands will be overwhelmed.

Customer service could be better but honestly when the chicken is this good you don’t really care much. Delicious chicken amazing chips and gravy. The salad is a little meh. Sadly the scalloped potatoes were sold out. Definitely be back for more !

Owner is very friendly and always gets my order right. Quality of the food is absolutely outstanding. Best Charcoal Chicken I've ever had. The chips are fantastic too. The charcoal chicken is delicious and cooked over charcoal and the chips are amazing (they have a great seasoning on them). Price is extremely reasonable also. Couldn't ask for anything better!

There is something to be said about a place where simple old school food is offered simply, but consistently good. The service is always great and the chicken combined with hot, crispy chips is extremely satisfying and delicious. In a place like Richmond where a fast cheap dinner is getting pretty rare, Smokey Chooks offers a welcome mid week respite from the daily grind.

Richmond keeps coming up with winners. The chicken was really good, the seasoning on the chips delicious, roast veggies perfect and the potato fritter perfectly seasons with whatever secret salt combination they use. And yes - it’s called a potato fritter, not a potato cake, not a potato scallop or any other weird term you crazy eastern seaboard people use to describe potato fritters.

Ive eaten at pretty much every chicken joint in Melbourne, I just had a 1/4 chook and roast veggies, that was the best meal I have had at a chicken shop in my life. delicious food and great service

Honestly the best chicken I've had ever and I mean as an islander I've had alot of chicken but it doesn't end there 🙃 there chips taste sooooo good like no other! They also have potato with gravy that will blow your mind! On point customer service also! Absolutely recommended for feeds with the Whanau!! ( family ) - Maori

Smokey Chooks is one of the best chicken shops you'll find. It's not large or fancy and the menu is tight, but everything they do they do amazingly. The chicken is so flavoursome and fresh, chips are hot and delicious and the small range of salads compliment well. Service is personal, friendly and helpful. Do yourself a favor and give them a try you won't be disappointed

Excellent food, very friendly. The charcoal chicken is superb as is the tandoori chicken burger, chicken roll, roast vegetables and Greek salad. Always a pleasure and great value and high quality.

This place is seriously unreal. The chicken is smokey and juicy, and the flavor is out of this world. The chicken rolls are delicious, the salads are fresh, and the chips are on another level with an amazing herb salt mix. Plus, it won't break the bank, which is pretty awesome too! I have to stop myself from going here every day.

I have been frequenting this shop for 10+ years, and am consistently impressed by the quality and freshness each and every time! The owners are absolutely lovely and really look after you, plus the chook is seasoned perfectly and is very tender! I cannot get enough of their fresh salads which are made from quality ingredients, the hot chips are also hard to resist with that salt seasoning, and my personal favourite side dish is their dim sims!
