Currumbin Wildlife Hospital

Tourist attraction Animal hospital Wildlife rescue service

😠 They deleted my initial review. I took a baby rainbow lorikeet in that had fallen from a tree in a dog park. The lady was rude and almost annoyed that I had brought it in and said it was a waste of time and that it would die anyway. She almost made me feel bad for trying to help my native wildlife.... People often mention wildlife, injured, bird, care, hospital, staff, wild, animal, work, amazing,

My friend brought a fig bird in yesterday who she saved from being attacked by crows as a fledgling, the bird had a damaged eye (blinded) yet she pulled her back to complete health with the exception of the eye. She was advised to take her to CWH where after being cautioned by staff that it is illegal to care for wildlife without a carer's licence ("but we won't prosecute you") they took the bird assuring that after vet checks they would look to rehome her in an aviary with other special needs birds as she couldn't be released into the wild due to her restricted vision. What a crock! She called later that day to be advised they had put the bird to sleep due to the eye injury (confirmed blindness), all other vet checks were perfect. This was a healthy and happy bird (not in pain as they suggested), she was killed needlessly.

Very helpful, caring animal hospital. We took an injured lizard in, and my son was notified when he had healed up and released back to the wild. Very impressed!

After a donation by ACPHARM, our pharmacist Jack Hammond had the privilege of being a vet for a day. This hospital run primarily on donations and without your help they cannot help the sick and injured wildlife that come in on a daily basis. The staff and volunteers all work tirelessly to rehabilitate and release wildlife. It was such an amazing place!

The wonderful staff at the Currumbin hospital were extremely pleasant and patient as they waited for me to drop off an injured bird I found laying on the side of the road. To have them wait till after closing time and still be so gentle and kind really pleased my heart. Thank You!

I had discovered that an Echidna had fallen into my swimming pool, possibly trying to get a drink of water, as it’s been dry since the floods. The kind people at the Currumbin Wildlife Hospital directed me to call Wildcare to have volunteers come to rescue the Echidna from my lawn and bring into Hospital to check that there was no water in it’s lungs and observe for a few days. Happily the echidna survived and is being released today. I’m so glad I was able to get the little animal out of the pool, before it got too tired.

I found an injured Lorikeet in the side of the road with a broken wing so took it down to these guys because I knew they would do everything possible to ensure it suvived. This is the best place to drop off injured wildlife. They give you a patient is number so you can call to enquire how the patient is going. Love what they do

Low value. Very poorly organised. Not much to see. Little information about what to do when. Best bit is the bird show.

Very disappointed. Took an injured bird that had flown into our apartment. The lady at reception took it to the vet. I was filling out the paperwork when she returned and i asked how it was she said the vet had put it down. She was so rude would think twice about doing that again. I have an annual subsciption and have done the same for 2 grandchildren. Will think twice before renewing

My family and I visited in late August of '23, and we were shown how they're helping the local wildlife and learnt about how they helped the wildlife during the wildfires in '20. Incredible people with hearts bigger than most. Staff members were informative and friendly. Couldn't recommend this place more.

They suck. Get donations to assist the wild life. What they do. Vet's euthanise animals.. for their sake. I will never give them a cent any more..

Very friendly staff who took in a badly injured tree frog that we found. They offered to assess his injuries and were kind enough to provide us with an update when we reached out later. I appreciate that the vets are there to help our wildlife so they can recover if possible.

CWH is an amazing place. They are not part of the Bird Sanctuary as I thought. They are independent and operate on donations and volunteers. They do fabulous work in caring for the wild life that is brought in. Literally hundreds of cases per day. They also are very active in trapping and vaccinating koalas against chlamydia which risks wiping out koala populations of the Gold Coast. Great work CWH. You do so much more than i previously thought. Thousands of wildlife patients every month. So glad to help them out.

Fully immersive with glass windows showing procedures throughout the day. Best time to see it is after the bird show at noon where they have a guided tour explaining the hospital and procedures that they are doing.

I found an injured turtle on my patio at 5am. Rang the 24hr phone line. The lady was helpful and pleasant. She arranged for the turtle to be collected so that he/she would be seen first thing when the hospital opened. Unfortunately the turtle was too badly hurt to be saved. However the hospital went as far as xraying to ensure there were no eggs that could be saved. I am so happy to know this service exists and go to great lengths to protect and help our wildlife. RiP Tommy Turtle.😪

A great place to be aware of if you have any injured wild life that requires attention. I was able to drop off an injured native bird which they took in gladly.

They're just delightful here. We popped in with an injured lorikeet. They gladly took it in to mend it. Even gave us its patient number so we could check up on it the next day. So worthy of any donations you can give them

Extraordinary staff and volunteers and of course an array of beautiful wildlife sick and injured but so comfortable in their rehab spaces. So inspired by the care and dedication.

Caring and communicative team, that quickly came to pick up a sick koala. They really care, and we are lucky to have such a facility for our beautiful furry friends.

It's a great place to visit but be prepared to spend a lot of money as everything is quite expensive. But it's worth a visit.

Great wildlife animal service. Lovely volunteers working at front office. We took a blue tongue lizard in which my 11yr old daughter found. Lizard looked like it needed some care as she looked pregnant and her tail didn't look right. Lizard got a patient ID no. so we could ring to check up on her. My daughter was thrilled to be able to do this.

Disgusting behaviour from a wildlife hospital of all places. Do better.

I donate money everytime I go to the sanctuary and as a lover of animals I am very disappointed and angry. Recently called to get assistance and I was denied as it was a "council" issue when it involved the lives of animals. It was a life or death situation that also involved baby animals as well. Very disappointing and I will not be giving anymore money if they can't be bothered to help animals which is literally what they are all about.
