The place was very dirty, the kitchen area was smelly. The bins stunk which attracted loads of flies! The bathrooms were dirty and never seemed to be properly cleaned. The pool was dirty and had trees, bugs etc floating in it that never got cleaned out! I don’t recommend this place to anyone!

Worst hostel Ive been in (and Ive been to many). We had a room FULL of bugbites, we couldnt sleep and it was so dirty. When we tried to tell the owners they started fighting and screaming at us, and then they said they didnt know about it which is a lie because we talked to a girl that had been staying there for a week and she had already been telling them. They also screamed at her and did nothing about it. We paid 92$ a night, and we didnt get any refund, only yelling. We also talked to others that had been staying there and they told then the same thing and they yelled at them too Pretending they dont know about it. Profit maximating at its finest. Gonna talk to civil council and see what they can do. DONT GO HERE!!

Booked on line and when we arrived we were turned away. Toooo old. Well that is discrimination. I have stayed in backpackers all over the world. The owner was rude and stated the reason we couldn't stay was there are bunk beds??? I am super fit so I can't see why this is an issue

If you can, please, stay away from this place. It is 1 am, I just woke up feeling pretty itchy everywhere... I just realised there are BEDBUGS in my bed and it is disgusting! If you can, pay somewhere else in a nicer and cleaner place. This is DISGUSTING

The place was crowded with bed bugs. There was no sope in the bathrooms and the toilets were dirty. When we told the staff and manager about the bed bugs they had an attitude towards us and Made it sound like it was our fault even through they knowingly rent out rooms thats infestated in bed bugs. Would not recommend this place to anyone especially with their price rates and dirty facilities.

BEDBUGS, UNFRIENDLY STAFF, NOISY!!! Worst hostel I have ever stayed at. Our room was crawling with bedbugs, we saw them clearly. Also the sheets was half made, the bathrooms didn’t have any soap or paper towels. The rooms and common areas was also really dirty. The receptionist was very creepy. Came into an all girls room before even knocking as if he was trying to catch us changing. Never experienced reception coming into bedroom before. We tried to tell the owners about the bedbugs in a friendly way, but before we were finished explaining the owner stopped us, and got defensive, rude and unprofessional in his answer. Then he said they didn't know about it which was a lie because we talked to a girl that had been staying there. We paid 92$ a night, and we didnt get any refund, only yelling. DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY HERE!!

Beds were comfortable and the location is perfect, right on the doorstep to everything you need in surfers paradise. I was in room 5, which adjoins with room 6 where the shared bathroom is for these rooms which has 4 toilets and 3 showers. Other guests at the hostel maybe don't respect that others also need to use the facilities. There were people's belongings in the showers for my full stay with nowhere to put your own things, not even hooks for a towel, which I did mention to management upon leaving, and there was urine on toilet seats on more than one occasion. Not management's fault, but having these guests disrespect the areas doesn't reflect well on the hostel. The rooms are a bit cramped with nowhere the put your bags if you're on the top bunk, and others who are there first have their belongings strewn across the room. Music is played in the main area from around 8am-10pm but it isn't too loud when you're in the rooms. Check in was done by a new staff member with a bit of a language barrier, so I wasn't given all the info I needed for my stay, but was sorted when I spoke to the owner/manager(?) Overall, it was an ok place to put your head for the night on a budget but I probably wouldn't stay here again.

Just stayed 4 nights at surf inn and it was the worst experience. We walked and and the smell was just horrible, the whole place was dirty. We didn’t even want to cook any food because of how unhygienic it was, you open the fridges and the smell! It smells like something died weeks ago, staff say they clean the fridge once a week but I don’t believe that. We were on the top floor, the smell up there was just as bad. In the rooms there’s no areas for any bags so we just had to leave our things everywhere. Me and my mates had to eat our tea outside as felt sick when going into the kitchen, also found two dead birds right outside the hostel one with its head off

Dirty, cheap and nasty, the staff member must have been high, beds weren't made and didn't even attempt to sort it. definitely not recommended

FANTASTIC. Honestly i dont know what the hell is up with some of the reviews, because me and my mates came and stayed for a mates bucks party and it was great. No issues with the beds, anyone worried about the reviews of bug beds i wouldnt stress this issue has been fixed. Excellent customer service from the owners, clean and well presented rooms. You get exactly what you have asked for and its really affordable considering the other options in the area this time of year. Pool was great, and the app system for getting in is really user friendly too.

Surf inn was the first hostel I stayed at and I absolutely loved it. I was very nervous as I was travelling alone but staff and other residents were so lovely and made me feel welcome. I stayed at a few other hostels around Surfers Paradise and I ended up coming back as I honestly enjoy my stay so much. The beds are comfortable, the common areas are great and it is such a welcoming environment especially for anyone who is looking to meet people. Thank you Surf inn!!

Arguably one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in on the East Coast, with well maintained common areas, clean bathrooms and a delicious freshly made breakfast included. I was welcomed by Corrie, who made the check-in process smooth and easy, before showing me to my room and providing me with some local food recommendations. A big thank you to her, and the rest of the team for contributing to a good stay. Strongly recommend staying at Surf Inn!

Me and my friend stayed here for 4 nights and we can’t get over how friendly and how clean everything was aswell as the free breakfast every morning aswell as cheap food throughout the day. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The staff were so friendly and made us immediately feel welcome . The location is so close to the city with it only being a 5minute walk. We would 100% stay again!

Stayed at Surf Inn for a night and wished I could stay longer! Staff are super approachable and friendly. We were in a 10 bed female dorm and the room was great, clean, and plugs near beds. I would definitely recommend here!

Great hostel in Surfer's! I stayed in the 12 bed dorm, which was clean, bed comfy, and there was a multi-person bathroom attached to the room (also very clean). The price was great, and breakfast is included. I'd definitely stay here again.

No lockers or anything to put your stuff on/in in the rooms, not very clean (bed cover was smelly and had dome stains), very loud music in the evening (not till late but still it was very high and it was not pleasant). The staff is nice and the position is great.

I only spent one night in the Hostel but it was lovely. The team is so friendly and helpful! You directly feel welcomed! Even if there are 12 beds in one room, you have enough space and the bathroom is clean. And not to forget to mention: the food and the drinks are delicious!!! So all in one, it was a nice experience:)!

Such a lovely place! One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. It’s a pleasure to come downstairs in the morning and get your coffee served by the great Gwen & Maïssa and the rest of the awesome team. Would 100% come back

New hostel, clean, modern- no kitchen but free breakfast and serving good food for half the price of any other restaurant / hostel. Perfect for a couple nights- a 3 minute walk from Cavill Avenue (5 from surfer’s beach). Managers’ service were both great and genuine. Coffee too was the best I’ve had in QLD, made by a couple great staff they have employed at the moment: Niko / Gwen. With no kitchen can’t recommend staying over two to three nights but then again that’s as long as I’d recommend staying in the Gold Coast. Great, clean place to chill for a couple nights with the generosity and cheap pricing of a new business. Stayed for $35 per night.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. Great backpacking atmosphere, chilled and lively. The kitchen cooks lovely food at a very fair price. Managment is top notch. Professional, very friendly and helpful with anything. Rooms are cleaned daily. They could change your sheets everyday for you and it wouldn't be a problem. Happy to return on my travels.

Really nice hostel. Rooms clean with private bathroom and duvet on the bed 😍 food very reasonable and free breakfast and juice provided. Would highly recommend this hostel to anyone staying in surfers paradise.

I stayed in this hostel only for one night but my experience was very good, especially for the staff, very kind and friendly. The rooms and the toilets could be improved but there was everything essential for a nice stay. I really appreciated the power points to charge my phone literally everywhere and in an easy way. The breakfast was excellent.

I had a fantastic one-night stay at the hostel in Surfers Paradise with my three friends. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the common areas were perfect for socializing. Plus, the location was ideal for beach lovers and nightlife enthusiasts. We'll definitely be back for more waves and good times!

Right by the beach, very clean hostel and amazing food! Free breakfast included which was delicious, lovely female only part of the building. There was also a pool and sun lounge area which we didn’t use but looked lovely

My friends and I booked this hostel for 3 nights months in advance and spoke to the owner on multiple occasions prior to coming and were giving completely false information. Upon arriving we spoke to the owner about the issues with our booking and were bullied into sucking it up and stood over by a grown man being a bunch of young girls in our early 20s. Both he and his wife were extremely rude and we were basically left with no accommodation on the week of schoolies with NO REFUND making it extremely difficult and expensive to find another place to stay. The rooms were disgusting, small, hot and dark. The bathrooms had mould everywhere. The bed sheet weren’t clean and the beds were hard as a rock. The male staff were extremely sleazy and incompetent, and the females were rude and lazy. Would HIGHLY suggest no one ever stays here. Absolutely appalling

Stayed one night at Surf Inn, it was very clean and spacious. The pool and bar area were lovely and the rooms were good quality. All the bathrooms were very new. It did not have a kitchen which was a bit annoying if you were staying longer. But they do free breakfast which was great and the pizzas in the evening were super cheap and good.

This hostel is amazing, I’ve been here from almost 2 months now and is such a cozy and lovely place. Strongly suggested if you’re backpacking cause is packed of teenagers but also with tourists and workers sometimes. There’s always a warm and friendly atmosphere and lots of common areas like pool, garden and dining room that allow you to socialize. The room are tide and clean, the services are professional and there’s a warm team always here for help. Suggest

For a good night rest and good vibes u should go to the surf inn! Rooms where a lot better than other hostel nearby. Good beds and most importantly, airconditioning ! The staff was friendly and the (free..) breakfast was very nice! Good barista’s too.

Great deal for a semicheap backpackers hostel. You get free breakfast, bunkbeds and toilets are clean. There is a small pool area and gaming room. The prices of the food are acceptable. The doors open with an app, which is weird bc if your phone dies at night you can get stuck outside. Highly recommended, regardless!

On the website it says complimentary locker but still I was charged a $10 fee to use the locker. The room needs more cleaning because you can see dirt on all over the floor. When I was checking out this girl at the reception was asking me to bring out my bedsheet, pillow case and duna cover! When I told her my taxi waiting, she wasn't so happy about it. Why did I need to do that? Also the mattress is so bad for sleeping not to mention all the sounds outside make it hard to sleep

Great place if you need a place to live for a few days, but also good for long term stays, the rooms are rather clean and quiet. I remove one star because I can't really stand the outrageously loud music at 8 AM

  • 1/5 Daniele Alessandro V. 1 year ago on Google
Fake pictures. This hostel is terrible: VERY dirty, the person who manages the hostel is rude, reception sometimes doesn't just exist. Avoid Surf Inn if you are looking for a nice experience.

  • 4/5 Emmet de G. 1 year ago on Google
Clean and tidy hostel, with a good location. The only thing is that they don't have a self service kitchen, so you can't cook any food. On the other hand they do serve some food in their own kitchen for a relatively cheap price.

We had a confirmed book, we went all the way from Sydney, once we got there the guy just told that there was not booking for us. Not a good time when people is not capable to do their job properly fxcking up people vacation

Really nice Hostel ! I enjoyed the vibe and all the amazing people there! The pool and the coffee made my feel like in a resort! Everything was clean and the staff and the owner helped wherever they could ! Would recommend it everyone!

HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED Be aware of this place!! They worst experience so far in Australia.. will not go further than that most of staff totally stoned, they didn’t give me my passport back after coping it, the manager is sleeping with some other girl guest in bunk bed in the same room with other locators. The personnels fights are on regular basics next to guests and since I was leaving at 8:30 in the morning the “reception” was closed (they said that they operating from 9 so I left my room card in the early checkout box, have sent picture of it, as well as information that I’m expecting this deposit of 20$ back on my account and I didn’t get this since two weeks.. If you want to stress out it’s a right place!!

Not sure why there’s any bad reviews. It was one of the cleanest hostels I’ve stayed at. Newly renovated within the last few months. And by the sounds of it more to come. Sadly the kitchen was under renovation while I was there. But looks like a lot of nice things are going into it. Beds were clean and comfortable, the staff was amazing, Super friendly. The owner was great willing to have a conversation with anyone just to get to know you a bit. The pool’s great also newly redone and there’s an outdoor shower to wash off when you’re done in the pool. Plus if you like having a hot or cold coffee they have a little coffee shop attached as well. Location is prime and about a 5 min walk to the beach and close to town, grocery stores, ect! Highly recommend staying here! Thanks for the stay!

Good beds. Good rooms. And excellent staff! I couldn't sleep one night because of a strong noise coming from the AC but the guys from reception solved it straight away and got a different room where I could sleep properly. It doesn't have a kitchen!📣 But if you're staying for a short period of time it's alright

Very helpful staff, especially when needing a room last minute. Good sized room and comfy bed, was great to have bathroom attached to room. Friendly social areas, free breakfast was great, freshly cooked with a drink and use of facilities even after check out was good extra!
