this place is absolutely miserable. cats and dogs in tiny cages. birds in even smaller cages with at least 5 per cage stacked on top of each other. betta fishes in tanks that do not even allow room for them to swim. i went into get a toy for my dog and left crying. absolutely inhumane condition. i cannot believe this is even legal.

Terrible service, two girls at the front counter as I walk in with my kids, we had already been in the day before to look at what we needed. We wanted to get a Comet, fantail, tank, snail and a plant. I was told I needed a 20L tank that was heated and airated for two Goldfish!? They sincerely were not interested in helping at all. The owner of this store must be beside themselves, with what these workers are doing to this buisiness. I said that I'd had Goldfish in a non heated, non airated tank as a kid that lived happily for years. I was told that because of RSPCA standard they wouldn't sell me any fish as I wouldn't purchase their suggested tank. The most bizzare situation in the world. Both of these girls were needlessly rude, hostile and lazy. I will be sure to pass along my expierence.

The staff are friendly and appear helpful however this place is ridiculously expensive!!! I don't agree with puppies being sold at pet stores but even if I did, the average person would not be able to afford one. $2800 for a pup, that's an absolute joke. Adopt don't shop. The store does have a huge variety of items for your pets though, you could just about find anything you require to keep your furry friend comfy and happy here.

Have a really difficult dog to buy toys for as he is a tough chewer and gets through most toys with ease. Went here expecting another regular pet store but the range they had was fantastic! The staff knee a lot about dogs and different types of chewers, they had products I haven't seen before and very well priced!

The saddest thing I’ve ever seen. People please have some decency and don’t spend your money at these place. Innocent young animals in tiny cages being poked at all day long. It’s absolutely horrific

Purchased a bird that was found to have foot problems and liver issues. Has cost $1300 in vet bills so far. They are trying to blame me! I have had birds for many years and have never have any issues since they are well looked after with a good diet. Will be taking the matter further through QCAT because this bird had no grip in his feet the day I got him home, which I thought was due to the sores on his feet but after an emergency vet visit it was found that there was much more wrong with him. He was NOT healthy when purchased. Edit to add. The sellers vet never spoke to my vet, they spoke with someone that hadn't been dealing with myself and my bird. The office of fair trading said that they can't do anything other than put my request forward to the seller for claims of a vet bill. Her words were exactly "we can't side with either party". The bird couldn't even put weight on his left foot when I arrived to pick him up. Which is why I inspected his feet after arriving home. This is when I noticed the sores and started treatment on them, and started to deal with his overgrown nails. I was also never offered food to buy or told anything about it voiding the bird's health guarantee. My birds have always been fed vetafarm parrot essentials and fresh vegetables... Considering I had just purchased a 10kg bag of food for my other birds, I wasn't going to buy more food. When I asked the girl about the bird's history she just said "we know nothing about him or his history". My vets words to me where exactly "this bird would have been sick for some time"... The vet that you never spoke to. So keep up with your empty threats. I will be continuing with this because he was definitely not healthy. Which is made obvious by how healthy and full of life he is now!

This store needs to be closed down. I can’t believe the conditions those poor animals are living in. They have up to 10 or more birds shoved into one tiny little cage. One of the birds was so obviously stressed and unwell it was losing feathers and sitting in the corner of the cage fretting and pacing. Birds have legal requirements for their enclosures and the size of the cage they were using was barely suitable for one bird to live in. They had a Labrador puppy that looked like it had been sedated just laying inside a plastic box with no real environment or proper ventilation. Puppies that age need socialisation and the poor thing is in there completely alone. The cats also looked sedated and are constantly having people touch them. Where is the care for the animals? This sort of environment is not suitable for any animal. Reading the responses from the owners on some of the other reviews also doesn’t sit right with me. Some other reviews will even show pictures of kittens being kept in rat/Guinea pig cages! Even the fish have absolutely no space to swim around freely. You people clearly have no regard for animal welfare. I really hope you are investigated for these cruel, unfair living conditions you’re forcing on these poor animals.

My partner and I bought our little man (kitten) from here yesterday (19/03/2020) and they couldn't have been more friendly and excited to see him go to a new family. He is only 9 weeks old and we already love him so much. He is so playful and just loves playing with us. Thanks guys for the beautiful service.

Went to buy a goldfish..told me a shrunken would be fine to put in with my fantail...NO..it has ripped mu poor fishes tail to shreads...really need to know what you are talking about before you give advice...and also a plant that is not a Aquarium plant..NO HAPPY.

Today I witnessed a terrified black and white puppy getting constantly attacked by 2 bigger poodle puppies! It was very upsetting to see! I made a complaint to be told it’s been sold! Really not acceptable to see animals kept like this! The RSPCA should be investigating.

Rude staff unhelpful. I had to exchange bag of cat pellets as bag I picked up had tear in it. Guy didn’t even offer to get me another bag. So rude

Got a fighter fish from here, staff were very helpful, they showed us how to look after it and how much to feed it, always dogs and cats there that are cute to look at too, writing this after a.month and my fish is still healthy and alive!

Waited around all day for a fish delivery that they said was coming in. Around 4.20 I was informed that there not getting a shipment in till the next week thanks for wasting my time guys I will not be back to buy from you again.

My girl-friend and I came into the Southport store to have a browse and look at the pets. The staff looked young and wore black jackets over their uniform. The Asian boy working there wore a black jacket and I know he works there as I have being into this store with my partner before many times and I could see the purple shirt, awkwardly walks super close and doesn’t say hello towards the back of the store where the birds are, I felt so weird that he didn’t say hello and so I asked “oh what’s this bird called” because my friend and I were having our own conversation, he is their standing super close pretending to “look” he goes “it’s a finch” not even smiling or elaborating. I got the feeling that he thought we were stealing. My friend and I immediately walked out because it was so awkward. Especially when they didn’t say hello as we walked in. I get that it’s Southport but, the unwelcoming, feeling that we are low life stealers and getting judge! Never coming here again. I used to by my cats snacks here but no. The Asian boy ruined it.

Usual range for a pet shop. Disappointed to see cats and dogs in tiny cages, more than likely to be purchased at a whim and abandoned in a month. Sorry I just don't like dogs and cats being sold in this manner.
