The Evandale Practice

Psychiatrist

🫤 While I love the Dr. I see at the clinic, the office manager, Nako, is extremely rude. I called to make an appointment. Being a foreigner in Australia, I was trying to ask questions regarding prescription refills and appointments. Nako would not even acknowledge I was asking a question, kept talking... While I love the Dr. I see at the clinic, the office manager, Nako, is extremely rude. I called to make an appointment. Being a foreigner in Australia, I was trying to ask questions regarding prescription refills and appointments. Nako would not even acknowledge I was asking a question, kept talking over me and rudely said "I've made the appointment" and hung up on me. I kept saying, wait a minute, I am trying to ask a question. I had to call back and talk to another receptionist to get my questions answered. Seems like nako would do well with a course on customer service. I'm surprised that such a great clinic would keep a manager who has no people skills around. What a pity for the patients and what a bad impression this sets, especially for new patients.

Can you imagine, calling and sending an email, trying to get an appointment for a friend who is in tears for days and asked you to help only to be told, no that doctor won’t take new patients? In the email Dr Adam’s was asked if he can’t see this person then please, please refer someone. So one day later when I call to enquire if the email was forwarded on to him, the absolute rudest, insensitive woman on the phone says No, he won’t email you, go elsewhere and refuses to listen then hangs up on you? This is about mental health? How can they help customers if the receptionist ( called herself office manager when I asked repeatedly for someone else, refuses to even listen when I call back, ask to speak to someone else so I can ask who else is available? I am desperately worried and this friend and when I asked if you realise this is about serious mental health, Nako(?) says ‘yes of course I know it’s about mental health, this is (a) psychiatrist office!’. A plea for help and this is the result? You should be ashamed of yourselves. As the daughter of a suicide parent, how dare you be so dismissive! How dare you? How can people in this field act like this? Pray you never are in this situation… you might be!

Agree with one of the previous comments - while the practitioners at the Evandale practice are amazing, they are heavily let down by their extremely rude reception staff who have very poor communication skills - especially being front of house for a business providing mental health services. I hate to imagine how many patients have slipped through the cracks & missed out on appropriate care and information due to their incompetence and rudeness.

The Dr I was seeing is very good at his job! Due to circumstances, I hadn't seen him for some time. Rang the receptionist and asked if I could see him again. She sounded like I had to beg his forgiveness, so he'd take me back. I feel dejected and depressed, that things have ended up this way.

I've attended the practice since I was 12, on and off and honestly while some clinicians elsewhere have cause immeasurable harm, the treatment I have received by Dr. Lotz and Asa Kenworthy has been unparralled by any clinician public or private on the Gold Coast and in areas of Brisbane. I have also only every been treated with respect, and professionalism by the reception staff. I can't comment on other clinicians there but I will say a resounding thank you to my care team and the reception staff So again thank you to the reception team and especially Dr. Trevor Lotz and Asa Kenworthy, literal lifesavers

Dr Lotz was kind and understanding. He has a knowledge of female adhd/autism which many physicians are not up to date on. The place is a calming environment with an African deco vibe so I didn’t feel like I was in a clinical environment. After a bad prior experience trying to get diagnosed, I finally felt listened to about my ADHD rather than it just being passed off as anxiety.

The medical receptionists here are so disorganised. They will not tell you that your referral is expired until after your consult making you pay full price, they don't reply to emails, don't reschedule you for a review or send reminders. Just had a phone consult booked and get a call 15m after start time to say nope can't do phone one today? I had double checked phone consult was okay when I made the appointment! I think they need to understand their clientele better. Dr is lovely it's such a shame about the staff.

Please be aware this practice cannot perform Medicare rebates and you are required to do yourself and it will take some time. It is probably something that should be mentioned when booking the appointment especially when being told to I need to make a full appointment just for a prescription repeat. I am now in the unfortunate position of having the prescription but financially unable to fill for the uncertain time being until I receive the rebate.

I have seen Dr Stuart Aitken now for 1.5 years for my sexual health needs. Every single time I have gone to see him, I have felt extremely welcomed. He is an extremely knowledgeable doctor in his field. I have always left the clinic feeling confident about my sexual health. I have been on PREP for 1.5 years now and I'd recommend seeing him if you're gay, straight, trans or anything in between. I will continue to see him long into the future, for as long as I'm sexually active. Super knowledgeable and great doctor!

Attended my first psychiatric appointment with doctor Mahsa Davari and I couldn't fault anything about the practice or her. The administration staff were very lovely and accommodating. Dr Davari was really nice. She listened, took time to understand and was interested in me as a patient. I didnt feel like I was just another appointment to her. I highly recommend

Told I can’t be helped after 18 months of seeing the doctor, now refuses to give me my documentation after paying full private practice prices! On top of this, has to be the nastiest receptionist I have ever met!

Between the two of us who had the phone on speaker it’s very difficult to even understand the person on reception. What we did here is that they’d call at the end of September to organise an appointment because they couldn’t do it before that. It was August when we called. It’s now November 10 and still nothing. Good thing there is a back up person my doctor uses for referrals and I had an appointment a month ago

Posting on behalf of a friend. Newly diagnosed, newly medicated, Dr asked him to come back for review of medication in 2 weeks but reception advised booked out for 5 months. Practice doesn't care and on cancelation list now for a month. Medication only given for a month has now run out with another 4 months to go before appointment. How is this appropriate care? Mind blown with lack of coordination of books for a current patient being newly medicated and lack of care from the practice. Practice manager especially rude. Will need to now try the emergency department as only recourse and see if they can help. Apologies tax payers.

Dr. Arash Amini is lovely, patient and understanding. He takes time to go through medication with me, makes sure they’ve covered everything and always check if I have any further questions. I feel like I’m in safe hands, and know I can call up if I need to. I also appreciate the receptionists who are always lovely, helpful and take the time to be thorough.

Dr Arash Amini thank you kindly for taking all the care and patience in the world to listen to me and actually address the issues. Highly recommended and has honestly changed my life around. Thank you so very much.

😠 I wish I didn't have to leave even one star. The psychiatrist I saw was more interested in arguing with me than listening to what I had to say or acknowledging my personal situation. For $3-$400 per session (some lasting less than 20 minutes) you would think they would be trained in basic duty of c...

🫤 I left the hospital with more trauma. Majority of the nurses were incredibly kind and really good at their job, up until I started showing symptoms of my mental health. I was there for a little of a month and during my stay I came to the realisation that this hospital isn’t for patients with proper...
