One of the most beautiful historical buildings of Paramaribo Capital. This wooden cathedral is much worth visiting. It has a rich history. of course you also can attend a service there. But the St. Petrus and Paulus Basilisk is open everyday for visitors. Do make a small contribution for maintenance do. that helps to keep it the way it is. inside there is a lot of decorated Cedar wood ornaments.

Very beatiful cathedral outside! But there is a dress code and guard in front of it. It should be open for everyone to enter like all churches in Europe!

This totally wooden cathedral is the largest in South America and was recently renovated in 2014 after being closed for almost twenty years, its interior is warm and conducive to meditation. A real favorite for its visitors. (Original) Monument d'une exceptionnelle beauté et magnifiquement bien entretenu. Une halte incontournable à faire en visitant Paramaribo. (Translated by Google) This is a very nice museum where we were kindly received by Glenn Wijngaard who then gave an extensive tour. We were subsequently initiated by Cristina van Russel-Henar into the secrets of the Koto headdress. Again a passionate story of a woman who apparently made it her life's work to record the story of the Koto fashion for the future in a museum.

The Cathedral in Paramaribo is an airy and dare I say unique edifice. Inside and outside it is all made out of gorgeously preserved wood. For sure the Church has been doing a great paint job over the years! Interesting is the grave of Peerke Donders, the missionary who went to Suriname to fight leprosy. He died in Batavia, Suriname but was reburied in the Cathedral.

I have tried to visit twice. The hours posted on Google must be wrong. They have been closed each time. I would love to add an accurate review, but first need to find the doors unlocked.

I'd heard great things about this museum so was a bit disappointed but maybe because I'm not so interested in such a specialist subject. I thought the price of Fort Zeelandia was much better value at 25 Surinamese dollars compared to the 40 Surinamese dollars for this smaller museum. I was also uncomfortable with the guide leaving the guests to knock outside without answering.

The lady inside was from the start overly pushy about the "option" to give a small donation in the trunk. I walked a little inside and took 1 or 2 pictures and was right away about to leave. I had just changed money into local currency and I had only big bank notes so I thought I would do that some other time. The lady became absolutely nasty and pressed me to get out, closing the door on my face, seething with harsh words. I was accompanied by an 86 year old tourist who didn't understand what was going on but had to leave as well. As I tried to answer she was raising her voice and I prefereded not to insist. Scary and sad experience. Beautiful building otherwise. Make sure you have small change if you go inside!!!
