👍 Had the quesabirria and they were good. I feel like the recipe changed in the last couple months. Went from three smaller tacos to 2 larger ones. The smaller were tastier. Still best in the area People often mention tacos, Mexican, good, service, delicious, restaurant,

We tried this place on a whim and it turned out to be a terrific choice. The fish tacos were among the best I’ve ever had, really well balanced and very flavorful. The street tacos were also delicious, especially the pastor. They were friendly and cheerfully explained the unfamiliar items to us. We were going to a show that night and this little place turned out to be just the right combination of tasty, friendly, and reasonably priced. It’s tiny with just a few tables, but was a breath of fresh air in an area that is overloaded with mediocre, overpriced food and chains. Can’t wait to find an excuse to go back again. I hope this place does well and survives downtown!

One of the best Mexican restaurants around! The cheese quesadillas are massive. They’re located in a super walkable neighborhood. They sell 3 leches cakes that are hard to resist getting because they’re so good!

The owner and his sister are so humble/nice and their menu has the best selections of burritos, tacos and BIRRIA!! Very impressed with this little gem! The hours are great for the location and this place reminds me of being back in my nana cuca’s kitchen! Thank you for always greeting me with big smiles!

Birria with deep fried tacos were mouth watering. Looking for excuses to come here again soon. The nice lady who took our order took her time to explain and make recommendations. Maybe the best tasting Mexican food I've ever had.

One of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. The service was amazing and the food was 10/10. We got the quesabirria tacos with rice and beans and enjoyed every bite. So happy to have found such a solid Mexican restaurant in the heart of Phoenix!!

This place was simply amazing, I was downtown and the name rang a bell as my grandpa's store back in the day had this name. Figured I would stop by and it was amazing. The owners were super welcoming and told me the story of their restaurant, well once I got the Tinga chilaquiles I ordered, they were all I expected and then some. They also offered me a chocoflan from another family vendor they sell at the restaurant and it was simply delicious. I can't wait to visit again! 😋😋😋

The quality of the food, service and atmosphere were very good at the time when I visited. I stopped in early, right as they opened, and got some chilaquiles rojas and café de hoya. Both were very good. The prices were much higher than what I normally pay for these types of foods. But downtown rent is not cheap, so I understand that. Minor price gripes aside, the the restaurant as whole was very good and worth a visit.

Delicious authentic Mexican food. Friendly. Counter service with limited seating. They were doing a lot of walk in and take out service while I was there. Everything served in disposable containers with plastic utensils, even if dining in. The chilaquiles were very tasty. Good vegetarian options such as jackfruit.

Fantastic food, competent service, and the Mexican culture permeates the restaurant through the music and decor. I particularly appreciated the warmth of the proprietors, they make you feel at home. Would definitely come back!

This place has the best tacos outside of Mexico that I’ve ever had - and may even be tied with the food over there. I was a chef for almost 8 years and El Zaguán does it right. You can tell everything is made in-house, marinated for multiple days and cooked to perfection. You may have had really good tacos somewhere else, but that’s because you haven’t eaten here. This will be your new benchmark for Mexican food in Arizona. I wish I could give 10 stars. Friendly staff, great customer service, fast ticket times and no compromises on quality. Oh - and for 3 bucks/taco. Which they discount if you get more than 4. At the risk of not saving money, they could charge more. I crushed 10 tinga chicken tacos in one sitting and already want to go back.

Legit authentic Mexican food. I got the street tacos, Al pastor and carne asada. So delicious! The service was awesome. They are so friendly and genuine in there. Will be my go to work lunch spot.

I discovered this place one morning after hopping off light rail. I was thrilled to discover the best vegetarian burrito I’ve ever had! Got to work and found out it’s a favorite of my coworkers, too. I’ve had the jackfruit burrito, salad, enchiladas and chilaquiles, all amazing! The owners make you feel at home instantly, too!

Oh man! So delicious. I got the Al pastor, pollo, and asada street tacos. Each had a unique flavor and they were all well seasoned. My favorite street taco was the asada. It’s appearing hard to do beans and rice correctly but here, the beans and rice were amazing. The quesabirria taco was the best thing of the meal. So wonderfully crunchy, not soggy. Problematically delicious. The carrot cake was surprisingly lite and not too sweet. The one wish I had was for home made chips. But their home made salsa and hot sauces made up for it. So good and will definitely be back.

Wow. Visiting and decided to try this place. I could not believe how good everything tasted. The woman at the register was so friendly, fast and efficient at letting everyone know where everything was and the options available for customers. Will definitely be coming back!
