Disappointed. The reviews are great for this restaurant so thought give it a try. I know it’s a small plate restaurant and my companion actually got decent small plates. I ordered a burger and the beef was much overdone, but I was very hungry! The chips were the best part of my meal. The waitress seemed confused when we asked for cutlery and condiments, which appeared very strange. Good decor.

First visit to restaurant for Sunday lunch on Fathers Day. Very attentive staff. Sunday roast was great with a amazing platter of vegetables to accompany our dishes. Great value, nice ambience too. Will definately be back.

Highly recommended. This spot is an absolute gem. Easily located with ample parking space. Indoor and terrace seating. Inside is very welcoming with a warm ambience of comfort. Food is super. Portion size is appropriate and flavor profile and matchups of each dish blend together smoothly. Presentation is clean and beautifully executed. Service is the icing on the cake. Attention to detail is placed on making their guests feel welcomed and a detailed explanation is given for menu items, as well as any special dietary options. Located in Southampton's Ocean Village, Bacaro specialises in small-plate food. Think tapas, but with an Italian twist to it. We ordered 5 plates plus a bread sharer between two of us. The small plates were really good, and portion sizes were of the perfect size to share with the table. The aranchini are particularly good so I'd recommend ordering extra of these. The one slight disappointment was the pizza - it wasn't bad, but not quite to the same level as the other plates we ordered. A dessert menu is available separately. I would recommend their cheese board - it is really quite generous. There is an extensive wine list alongside a cocktail and mocktail menu. Service was really good, but took a while at times. I don't fault the staff for this - it just appeared that there were a number of large tables and they could do with a few extra hands. On the whole a really positive experience and one we will definitely come back to.

Had lovely fresh food, with fast friendly service. Tried good range of dishes, all great. Would recommend their new cauliflower dish! (Tasted so good finished before got a photo!)

Lovely food, atmosphere and service, the portions are small so you can get a variety of dishes to choose from. The meatball pizza with the yoghurt sauce and the ravioli are amazing.

Lovely atmosphere. Polite staff. Tasty food, especially the tiramisu. The portions are overall small, so you definitely got to buy more than just a starter and a main if you like to go home full.

La dolce vita! Although I was hesitant to go to an Italian restaurant after our stolen win in the Euro final, I figured the Italians would have a good variety of food options. I must say, we were not let down! My date was a vegan, and there was a fantastic variety of vegan options, she ordered the risotto. They even did basic people food for me, I ordered a margarita pizza. Lovely staff, very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be returning.

Had diner tonight with my family. Truly enjoyed every bite and wished I had a second stomach so I could try more. Really really great food. Would definitely recommend. Great cocktails as well and a very pretty restaurant over all, good ambiance.

We went out couple of weeks ago and hoped to get a bar table at Bacaro. Even though it seemed busy, Ana managed to source a table for us (she also provided spot on service during the evening! Big thanks for that!) It was our second time in there and we'll be definitely coming back :) Reasonable prices and good music.

Nestled away in between some flats by the marina lies an absolute gem. Both food and wine were great, very tasty and well priced in comparison to other tapas style restaurants out there! Service was also excellent, Celso was friendly and attentive but not overbearing. If you are in Southampton it's well worth a little walk outside the centre!

First time to Bacaro after a few attempts at booking as it is very popular. I can however see why after a great meal here, all the food was great and the service was extremely attentive. Cocktails were excellent and was a perfect meal to finish off the working year. Highly recommend and we look forward to returning!

My husband and I visited on Sunday, the food was fabulous and so much of it too. We were welcomed with a chilled glass of Prosecco each to toast to our wedding anniversary, such a lovely kind gesture.

What a treat! We were lucky enough to have booked a table on the launch day of the new Winter/Christmas menu, after having already tried, tested and loved the Summer menu. The whole dining experience with Bacaro is stunning. We love the small plates concept, and especially in this restaurant, as the choices on offer are too good to be modest when ordering. The food is both visually and gustatorily exquisite. It is definitely worth visiting during this festive period if you can, as the place is decorated beautifully and the atmosphere is warm and magical. A special mention of our wonderful waiter Levente! He was so very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. No request was too much; he was great at explaining the dishes when asked, and also arranged for drinks that weren't on the current menu. There was absolutely no pressure from staff to finish up and return the table, even when it started to get increasingly busy throughout the evening. Yet, when needed, Levente seemed to always be visible and available, watching for cues that we requested his assistance. Highly recommended!

Lovely place to go and eat, and straight away order the Risotto balls starters you won't regret it. Now for the rest, food was lovely, 4 stars due to a dispointing desert. Need better desert options for the menu at hand. Service was good, though at the end we had to wait quite a while to get the bill. Atmosphere started lovely, however live band it got very loud and coming out for a meal made it hard to conversate we had no idea it was going to happen either, a prewarn at booking might have helped here. Apart from that I would love to have experienced a nice meal for 2 here without the loud live music and different desert options. But overall nice place to eat. Clean and tidy.

Great atmosphere, beautiful interior design, fabulous food (go for the small plates to share) and amazing cocktails. Excellent options for those with gluten and dairy allergies. The friendly staff are also happy to help accommodate most requests too.

Really nice Birthday Experience 🎂 staff made you feel welcome and the food was nice. The plates are explained to you how to order, and the food comes out as soon as its ready. It seemed a popular place it was busy on Wednesday evening. The ladies toilet had a nice touch a thought for others I'd say. Cosy inside and outside was dressed nicely with some seating. Fabulous food and service ... Lovely waiting staff helpful and explained the menu.... HOWEVER if you order the scallops beware that you only get 2 for £13 .... it looks like you're going to get 4 but there are 2 blobs of scallop sized mash potato disguised on the plate ... Otherwise everything else was perfect....

The food consists of tapas. Not Spanish style more Mediterranean style. They are more substantial. They recommend 2 to 3 per person if there are more than 2 of you I would recommend 2 per person. The food is very good. The king prawns are delicious, so are the parmesan arancinis (really good), the garlic bread with parma ham and mozzarella is good but at £12.50 I felt was a bit too pricey for this type of food, the beetroot hummus was delish so was the goat cheese mousse. Burger is average, the meat was too hard (brisket when well cooked should melt) and the bbq sauce overpowering. The gnocchis were OK but you can do the same at home so wouldn't recommend. Deserts are great, coffee wow the coffee best I had for a long time!!! Cappuccino was superb. So was the service. The staff is super kind, attentive, very competent. The tables are cleaned thoroughly between each seating. Wow guys well done.

Loved this place. Great building and atmosphere. Lovely service from Ana and the rest of the team. And the food...! We ordered a variety of things from the menu and every plate was a real treat. Full of rich flavours. Really great food. The food orders are somewhere between a tapas size and a standard main course. Defintely a great experience and a bit different to the usual sorts of places. Recommending to friends and family for sure.
