Apple rhubarb pie review. This place is busier than a church at Christmas (or is it Easter? Whatevs). The one dessert pie comes out hot enough to fry skin on contact, which is no drawback. The big plus is the puff pastry on the top, contrasting the short crust base. A very sophisticated choice, made only by someone who knows their pies, and appreciates contrast. It would be a 5* experience except for the filling; a veritable apple and rhubarb puree. It's harder to handle than a greased up pig in a mosque. The base can't cope and crumbles into the soup. It's all quite yummy. But if you're driving, the next call is to your insurer.

Grabbed a pie each and sausage roll to share. We had beef, cheese and bacon, and chicken, cheese, bacon and spring onion from memory? They were amazing. Pastry was beautiful. We called into another bakery on the way home from our holiday (I won't say where- not Ulladulla) and when my son had his I asked how it was and his response was "pathetic compared to Hayden's" 🤣 Definitely worth the drive. Can't wait to try other flavours

One of the best pies we’ve had anywhere in Australia! A tad high with the pricing but worth it for the deliciousness. We even had to return the next day for another. Highly recommend the chunky steak, bacon & cheese pie (pictured along with the lasagna - pie of the day).

Love my pies, and absolutely love Hayden's Pie shop in Ulladulla Visited with my partner on the 29th Jan 2022 on the way home to Sydney after staying in Mollymook. A good friend recommended we visit here and it is the best recommendation! We bought the frozen Irish Beef Guiness (pictured), Butter Chicken, Mussaman, Goat cheese and wild mushroom(?) which my partner describes as " f.....g delightful!" and sausage rolls which we are currently eating( bl...y delicious!) Wish there's an option to order and deliver to Sydney...so I hope....as this is hands down the best pie shop in NSW!!! Wiah it wasn't so far away and we can just pop by regularly

Best pie and lightning speed service. Must visit place. Went there on a long weekend with hundreds of customers and still waiting was less than 5 min.

I drove past this shop last Friday on the way to Batemans Bay for the weekend with fresh seafood cravings . Driving back to Sydney today I told the Mrs I’m going check out Hayden’s Pies. For starters the line of customers was all the way to the carpark & that’s a great sign of expecting a damn good product with high turnover. The trusty staff at the counter were very efficient & it was a short wait for 2 extraordinary pies that I purchased . I destroyed the chunky steak pie 🥧 in no time & kept the steak n mushroom pie for a reheat at home as per photo . I have no affiliation with these folks but truth be told these pies are unreal . Nice big chunks of tender beef & (no bloody fat or offal ) surrounded by a top notch gravy and massive sized cuts of mushroom. Pastry is golden & crusty . Well done 👍 Awesome 👏 🥇🏆 P.S plate is large , pie was most generous

Absolute gastonomic heaven. Arguably some of the best pies you can ask for. Flaky on the outside, creamy and gooey on the inside. Could not get any better than this. Saagwala was a surprise package. Being an Indian, I have a higher threshold for Indian flavors, and this one made the cut and then some. If you want to stick to simple steak or creamy chicken pies, they won't fail you either.

Bought chunky cheese and bacon pie, pepper Steak, and beef sausage roll. Cheese and bacon pie had real chunky Steak pieces and bacon. Very delicious. Only thing id fault was the base was a little floppy but very delicious non the less. Definitely worth a stop off. Pepper Steak was OK also had chunks of steak. Could of had more Pepper. Sausage roll was tasty but fell apart.

Love Haydens pies. They are a meal in themselves. Generously filled with delicious flavours with a thicker more rustic pastry. Huge fan, always a must when travelling south. My fave; steak and green peppercorn sauce. Chunky, superb. For more food and venue reviews check out @sixfootandsalty

So good that we had a pie 🥧 each for breakfast. Apparently so did others. I normally go to the Heritage Bakery for my pie treat when down at Mollymook but definitely worth travelling a bit further down for Hayden’s Pies 😋 They have the classics but also something for everyone including vegetarians, gluten-free etc. Well worth a visit 👍

Best pie I’ve ever had. Mushroom and goats cheese - impeccable. The whole mushrooms are so juicy and delicious. Pumpkin and feta- also good but not the star of the show Steak pie - gorge.

Busy shop with lots of locals visiting. Staff friendly and helpful. Pies in very generous size, yet the pastries a bit dry.

Best pies in Australia. Better than Kyneton. Must stop here if driving through or come every day if here for a holiday. Too good for a photo.

A must stop if you are in the area. The green peppercorn steak pie was amazing. You may have to wait in a queue to place your order. The queue moves quickly. Definitely some of the best pies I have tried. There are some tables inside and outside to enjoy your meal.

Fantastic selection and quality ingredients. We had the chicken puttanesca and honey pumpkin with spinach and feta pies. The puttanesca was missing a lot of the key briny flavours you would expect like olive and capers but still a delicious tomato base and I would of liked more spinach in the pumpkin as it was listed as an ingredient but despite the labelling both pies tasted amazing. Very light, buttery pastry and generous with the fillings. I also love the little serve your own sauce station with an option to eat with cutlery and crockery. We will be back again.

What a gem in Ulladulla! We stopped for brekky around 0800, got some pies and a pasty. Best pie ever, and I've eaten plenty around Oz. Great friendly service and very well priced to boot. This business rocks!!

It's hard to find a well executed pie shop that blends quality, cost, moist but crispy pastry and a huge selection but Hayden's nails them all. Screw Rick Stein, come get your laughing gear around one of these bad boys, you won't be disappointed in this true to heart pie shop. Not many places do chunky steak varieties where here they not only do chunky steak but they nail it as well Bonus was the caramel slice, max caramel, not overdone on the chocolate, perfect.

Well, what a surprise!!! Or actually not😄 The pies absolutely deserve the 2023 vote of best pies in NSW. Been pie-ing around for 20+ yrs now, started with his mum and sister and certainly still going strong. No doubt because of the amazing pies served up from 6am and selling over 3000 PER DAY😲 Good on ya! Visiting for a week we have been back repeatedly for the Franzini pies but thoroughly enjoying the others. (Sadly I missed out on the Wild Boar pies). We order our pies, sit back and observed the parking and the shop. Wow, the parking is a consistent flow of cars, SUVs, tradies utes, you name it, slipping in and out of parking spots with such ease. All being totally understanding that they don't have to push and shove or be rude and unkind, because Hayden has got them covered, he has ensured they will all get their pick of the pies of their desire😁 Inside the shop all are very happy to que up to get their slice of pie👏 Some holiday makers pop in for their last serving and a bag of take home pies. Some choosing to instead have their family pies for dinner 😀 But remember, they have an awesome selection of sweets too, and I'm pleased to say, not your run of the mill sweets either. Congratulations and well done. I'll be in tomorrow again 💚
