Great place for a romantic walk, day out or picnic. Beautiful lawns, sea view, walkways and fishing spots. Just monitor the wind as it can get windy. But for a day out with the family a great place. Love it ❤️

The Flagstaff Point Lighthouse in Wollongong is an absolute gem of a landmark that is not to be missed. Perched atop a rocky outcrop overlooking the stunning Wollongong coastline, this lighthouse is a true masterpiece of engineering and design. As you make your way up the winding path to the lighthouse, you'll be struck by the beauty and tranquility of the surrounding landscape. The crystal-clear waters of the Pacific Ocean stretch out before you, while the sound of waves crashing against the rocks below creates a soothing and calming atmosphere. Once you reach the top, the views are simply breathtaking. The panoramic vistas of the ocean, the city, and the surrounding hills and cliffs are simply stunning. You'll feel like you're on top of the world, taking in the natural beauty of Wollongong from a bird's-eye view. The lighthouse itself is a marvel of engineering and design. Built in the late 1800s, it is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the engineers and workers who built it. The lighthouse's bright white exterior and red roof stand out against the blue sky and sea, making it a striking and unforgettable sight. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or simply looking for a peaceful and serene place to relax and unwind, the Flagstaff Point Lighthouse is an absolute must-visit. It's a true gem of Wollongong that will leave you feeling inspired and rejuvenated.

A beautiful (free) place to visit on your way from the south (Canberra, Melbourne etc) to Sydney. There is not too much to do, besides observing the cannons, the lighthouse and the ocean view, but overall it is a good pace to visit. Time spent: 20 minutes.

I live in Wollongong and never feel bored visiting this place and almost come everyday. A lot of parking space and few restaurants are also available to get some good food. Public toilets are available at walking distance. You will get to see spectacular views of Wollongong beach. Highly recommend on a sunny day - preferable to witness sunrise.

An interesting landmark with some nice views of nearby Port Kembla and the Northern Wollongong region. A number of plaques are placed around the reserve with information about the structures and of the general area. Be aware that during busy periods there can be limited car parking available. All car parking spaces are limited to 4-hours, with parking prohibited between 10pm and 3am (presumably to prevent unwanted loitering and other unsociable behaviour).

Most happening places of Wollongong. Day and night both. Safe, friendly people, so many restaurants to choose from. So far food has been amazing together with the restaurant staff. Our favourite hotel is Adina Apartments. Pleasant staff, clean rooms, filled with amenities, safe parking and above all spot on location. My kid and I both are regulars.

This place is an excellent vantage point at Wollongong. It has ample scenic beauty for me to keep going back. If you are the kind of person who likes sitting at a lighthouse and watching the ocean while reflecting on your life, time and space - this is your place.

Great views along the Illawarra coast. Sadly another closed off lighthouse. But still a great place to picnic or to just take your lunch and sit.

Super good for night dates and star gazing little away from city. Excellent grass to lie on and watch the night sky. Pro tip: get your mobile stand for awesome night shots of the starry sky

It’s a great place to have a sunshine bath. We laid down on the grass, enjoying some sunshine (very rare in these rainy days) with your loved ones. We also had ice cream. 😋

A great place to see the beautiful coast of Wollongong. Lovely for walks, skating or to just relax and enjoy the sea / mountain views on a sunny day. Has some great free diving off the point when the seas permit. Follow me on Google maps for reviews of skateparks and pies around Australia.

A fabulous look out place in Wollongong, the place is brilliantly maintained, parking can be a bit challenging during weekends though. The lighthouse is very close to Cove beach which is super kid friendly and North Wollongong beach is ideal for family and surfers, the vastness and expanse of the beach will surely be a treat.

Very nice place to relax and enjoy the views from lookout point. The picturesque views of the ocean and Wollongong from the top of the lighthouse are breathtaking. The Flagstaff Point Lighthouse is a must-visit for anyone who wants to experience the beauty and history of the coastal town of Wollongong. Come here during lunch time and enjoy the beauty of the Wollongong. No fees, it's all free.

Great stop on your way up or down the coast. We got there at sunset and a lot of people just parked to eat and enjoy the view, a few surfers, and people jogging by.

Excellent view point along the coastline with cliff side views. The light house stands tall and adds to the charm and scenic view. The Flagstaff Hill lighthouse is active. The white light spends 4.5 seconds on and 1.5 seconds off. The red lights are displayed over shallow water to the north and south. The entire structure is painted white. It is located at Flagstaff Hill on Wollongong Harbour.

Love this place. Wollongong sites, places to eat and great walks around the beaches. Or just take in the view from up top on South Wollongong beach. Worth the visit, great place.

Plenty of parking available . It was a bit cloudy but still good spot for a stop point. I’m sure the scenery would be good on a nice fine day .

A popular spot for both locals and tourists. Its only a short drive from Wollongong CBD or a stroll along the beach promenade. Great 360 degree views and plenty of parking even on a busy day.

What a beautiful lookout! Perfect weather when I visited as well so extra bonus for me. Heaps of parking when I arrived on a weekday around 1pm. Strong winds here but it shouldn’t deter anyone

A glorious spot looking out over the ocean. It was a rather cold windy day when we were there however it was a beautiful sunny day and the view was amazing.

Wollongong, Australia boasts a unique coastal feature: two lighthouses. The Breakwater lighthouse, though inactive since 1974, stands 40 feet tall with a tapered wrought iron tower and lantern. Contrastingly, the Flagstaff Hill lighthouse remains active and is characterized by its all-white structure. Nestled on Wollongong Harbour's Flagstaff Hill, the location holds historical significance as a point Captain James Cook passed in 1770. The serene atmosphere and tourist-friendly appeal make it a must-visit spot. The juxtaposition of the two lighthouses and the rich historical narrative add to the charm of this peaceful destination.

Didn’t expect the view to be this beautiful as the lighthouse isn’t located that high. Then the surroundings turned out spectacular. Be careful with the seagulls though as they wouldn’t be nice guys

The lighthouse and the views from the hill are pretty cool, except for the fact that you can see many factories next to the beach. If you are at the lighthouse, you can take a quick walk down a rocky staircase, the larger beach on that side of the hill is where you want to be.

Flagstaff Point Lighthouse is a popular tourist destination, offering stunning views of the Brisbane River, Moreton Bay, and the surrounding city skyline. The lighthouse is also home to a small museum, which tells the story of the lighthouse and its keepers. The lighthouse is open to the public on weekends and public holidays. Visitors can climb to the top of the tower for panoramic views of the city and surrounding area. The museum is also open on weekends and public holidays. -Bard

An elegant lighthouse on a lovely green grass knoll. Some seating oriented to the sweeping views to the north. Great views also across the beach and south to Port Kembla. World war defence memorabilia. Access also to the rock pool below. Viewing platform connects to carpark, but no paved pathway to lighthouse itself. Sizable carpark to also serve the beach.
