2.5 stars. Only thing that saved it for us was the perfectly cooked meat. Starters were super bland and sadly DRY our chicken in the dumplings were dry dry and dry. The lobster bisque had tonnes of flavors but no meat chunk and the texture was all wrong bisque is meant to be creamy and have bits of meat on it ...and colored usually soft orange.. but this was almost grey like brown. The mains were calamari which was bland BLAND BLAND and was overly acidic and barely had any seasoning to cover for that. The fish was PERFECTLY cooked and seasoned but i didnt think it went well with sweet potatoe and the choysum was slightly undercooked. Happy to always try new food and a veriety of dishes and pay for it, just wish it lived up to the hype. Pros: Locations good Good menu Friendly staff Amazing ambience Pretty docor Mains have a good quantity Has good potential! Cons: NOT as great as hyped Pricey for its quality of food and service BLAND! Seasoning needed more details and thought to balance out flavors Textures also need attention (the dryness of dumpling filling, bisque texture and choysum cook time) Super busy staff due to the limitation of staff and service thus was delayed

It's such an amazing experience here...really enjoyed ourselves. Great hang out place...live music tonight (Friday) with that comfy and relaxing atmosphere - had a mixture of vacation and hommie feeling.. Tried out Chicken skewers(not marinated and the sauce was plain), with chicken wings etc.. Overall, had a great time.

Fantastic location. Its almost a museum of historic photos in a beautifully maintained colonial building. Very well presented dishes and the staff are very attentive

The food was very tasty, prepared very well. A bit expensive though, but I'd say worth the money. Should visit atleast once.

I love eating in this place. They have a good selection of food and they have the daily specials. What I love most in this place is that they allow me to bring my fur babies. This is a big deal for me in Fiji. Hence, on Sundays, if I am too lazy to cook breakfast, I just throw some comfortable clothes on and bring my babies for breakfast.

Food quality is good but some portions are small. For example, if you order grilled fish, the portion of vegies is very large and 3 small pieces of fish.

We heard good things about this place (strangely it has two names, Governors Cafe and Kanu seem to be the same location) and decided to come for breakfast. We were absolutely delighted with the food and the service. We each had a cappuccino, shared a fresh coconut, and ordered the Suva Benedict and the Egg Foo Yung. Prices were probably a bit high by Fijian standards, but as Western tourists we found it to be very good value. Everything was delicious. Should you find yourself in the Suva area, we firmly recommend this place for brunch at the very minimum. We will be back!

Visited twice in 1 week. First time, couldn't fault it. Excellent food, pork bahn mi roll, excellent service, thanks Sam. Second time, food was OK, (wife had mango stir fry but didn't seem to be any mango in it and was covered in soy sauce) and service a little average (said I'd take a beer with the meal but our server disappeared, wasn't another, so no beer and no water top up for the table. One of the dessert specials came with coconut ice cream, we didn't want the pie but asked if it was possible to have the ice cream, separating the pie and the coconut ice cream didn't seem possible so we didn't get dessert.

The ambience of this cafe/restaurant is still extrodinary - museum themed and vintage. They've done the renovation during the covid19 lockdown and increased the numbers of tables in and out - I would say before was better. The food on the other hand, is still yummy! I tried today's special menu - penne cream pasta with leg ham and mushrooms. There were so many ham and mushrooms! Loved it. My friend had the italian fried chicken - cant remember the name... It tasted just like chicken fried with pizza sauce on top. I'm not sure if it's supposed to taste like this but it tasted cheap - the kind where I would be able to make at home (i am not a good cook) Lastly, the beverages. 1. Mixed berry smoothie - β˜†β˜†β˜† 2. Kumquat juice - β˜†β˜†β˜† 3. Coffe - I have so much to say. They used fully roasted beans. It tasted like cigarettes. It was really not my taste but I think for people who enjoy STRONG coffee would love this place - nowhere else in Suva uses this kind of coffee beans!

A great place to brunch. They have a good selection of breakfast and brunch menu. They're open for lunch and dinner and can also cater for groups in private or in their restaurant space. Its quaint, cost and you feel right at home ar Governors. And so you should it been said that the house (restaurant) used to be the residence of the Fijian Governor during colonial times.

The ambiance is too good .. it’s great to watch down the history of the place and the pictures as well .. It’s a place for relaxation .. Very less option for ppl who are vegetarian .. if your sea food lover this is the prefect place to be with .. One of the restaurants to try when I’m Suva Fiji

Sometimes in life the simple things made best by the meals served with passion and very professionally. At the Governors we were treated to a Tuesday night meal that was not only delicious but innovative and above all, the taste that lingers for the next 24 hours. From the soup of the night Sea food chowder to the main meal with pork chops with green pepper sauce, fresh vegetables salad, home crushed sweetened tomatoe sauce, and fresh potatoe chips to the finishing of mouth watering dessert with blueberry cheese cake with ice-cream topping the the best in the city. It is an excellent dining experience for the family and for celebrating an occasion. Their services and customers service make you part of a long tradition of the best restaurant in the city. Thanks to Chef and his family for a great dining experience.

If only the staff could control the crowd of little ones running around and screaming their heads off. It's a beautiful venue for kids' parties but I guess other patrons need to be considered as well. Lovely food!

The quality of food and service has been elevated to a better improved level since the new management took over. The new look to the ambience is inviting, with a touch of cozy elegance and great background music selection that elevates the dining experience. Definitely worth the dollars spent so far.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Really enjoyed my meal at Maya Dhaba! I went here based off Google maps and it did not disappointed!
