Came by prior to our visit to the other markets and cafe in the area, and was unfortunately unable to see most stalls in action as it was only 10+ in the morning.. In any case, we managed to sneak in a morning coffee out of the situation and a toast too (which was really filling) - definitely recommended if you are looking for a coffee spot near the markets, Nami Coffee speaks some English and is really friendly 👍🏻

Fun place to be, with so many street food and shops to visit. Always crowded, even on weekdays. You will find food you love here, no matter if you are a sweet toothed person or savoury snack lover. There are also shops that sells souvenirs, branded outfit, make up, and clothes. You will need around 2-4 hours to go around this area (eventhough me, myself found it is still not enough 😁)

Dongdaemun (large east gate) Market is one of if not the best market within Seoul, especially at night. You can't go wrong with the majority of the stalls and shops here - Tteokboki, kimchi, pancakes, noodles, seafood and yang yeom tong-dak (Korean fried chicken) are all fantastic. Lots of the stalls will look very 'same same' after a lap or two of the market, so my advice would be to take in the sights and smells, before deciding where you'd like to sit down. Fresh fruit, pancakes and some drinks/juices were a nice way to top off the visit. The nearby river is a great route to walk along back to the Myendong area - You will find the area where lots of Korean shows have shot featured scenes there too!

Unfortunately we came here during a heavy rain day. This market was not equipped and well prepared for rain and a lot of stores were forced to not open due to the amount of rain inside the market. We ended up going to the neighboring Gwangjang Market Food Alley and Market instead. However, as I was walking though all the alley, it is worth exploring and wish I could return again in better weather.

Dongdaemun Market is very recommended for all: kids, adult, elder, men, women, etc. Everything is in very acceptable range of price! You can find anything you are asking for. Just visit and you will enjoy^_^ The most important thing is the Korean food. It is very delicious.

A great place for shopping, fabric / Korean silk , ethnic Korean wear, shoes , bags and loads of good stuff with very high quality products . People are friendly, absolutely safe to go around, use translator to communicate and subways to go around in Seoul. Easy access through subway to main market ( Exit 8 / 4 ) , have currency exchange shops around as cards are not accepted in most places so make sure to have cash . Don’t see much of bargaining but small discount for 2-5% , need couple of day or more to go around most places in Dongdaemun. The prices are high / very expensive but socks / fabrics / hand bags / shoes are worth it. If u shop for more than 30K won and get invoice than ask for VAT refund receipt to claim at the airport.

Very disappointing. We wanted to buy some fabric in the Dongdaemun shopping complex. According to its directory, 3 floors were dedicated to fabric, but in fact over 90% of the shops were closed.

The normal market in Seoul. You only see the accessory, lace, so much silk here. Nothing for tourist.

It’s been a while since I took a phone photo at Dongdaemun! A little rain... Plum blossoms everywhere are falling in the rain!!! As the comprehensive market is an analog market, I lost the desire to purchase due to the thought that its price competitiveness is lower than that of online shops... Many thoughts come to mind. How far will the vitality of the market continue?

Review of the market complex next to Marriott hotel : most of the shops were closed on festivities and weekends . usually open mon-fri 8-10am to 5-6pm. A lot of variety, shopkeepers some were nice some weren’t . I recommend TASSELS: basement 254 - the elderly man was such a sweetheart he made a missing tassel on my dress and refused payment . Level 5 : METAL CHAINS : B 5023 - prices were very reasonable for surgical steel chains and the gentleman even told me to look for him to connect the chains to my clasps although I bought them elsewhere . ( I bought them to make detachable crossbody straps for my small bags ) SEED BEADS : A 5023 the lady helped me find what I was looking for . SEQUINS : A 5132. level 2 : BUTTONS B 2411 Avoid ; 2nd floor D2612 told me in English he doesn’t deal with foreigners. 2nd floor B2402 overcharged me. I bargained with a shop selling wide linen laces and she gave me less than what I asked for , one lace was 60cm shorter. So bring your own measuring tape and check before purchase . The shopkeepers were offended If you bargain.

Huge market area with lots of tasty food options. Most of the area is covered with a roof, so you can enjoy a stroll even during rainy days.

Busy disorganised whole sale market. You get a lot of things here but mostly in bulk. They will sell you single pieces but you feel their disappointment. This market is huge with shops either side of the Seoul stormwater outfall. I think ther is nothing you can't find here. If you go in the small alley behind the market you can find the occasional jems ( old cameras, watches etc.)

8 floors building mainly dedicated for textile. Is not recommended for tourists, more suitable for locals.

Nice place to shop for wholesale fabrics. Need to ensure that you bring cash for purchase as the do not accept credit card as a payment method. If any store accepts they'd charge extra 10%

if you are into bulk shopping, this place is for you.. otherwise, skip this we went there around 6pm but most shops are closed... just opted to walk by the stream instead to enjoy the scenery

I reached there around 7 :15pm and almost all the stores were closed. I saw around 12 gates and each gate had small shopping stores.
