Bakoven is an exquisite holiday destination with the majestic Twelve Apostles framing its scenic beauty. The backdrop of these iconic peaks enhances the charm of this coastal retreat. Safety and cleanliness in Bakoven surpass Camps Bay, offering a serene environment for relaxation. Highly recommended for those seeking a delightful blend of natural splendor and tranquility.

A flat rocky outcropping facing in the right direction to appreciate the setting sun, with the gorgeous twelve apostles mountains as well as camps bay to your back. A great spot for a sunset picnic. Parking can sometimes be a little tricky but once you've found a spot it's just a short walk to find an available spot. It can occasionally be a bit windy and chilly so make sure to pack a jacket

Hidden beach where you can meet and sunbathe with a few local residents as well as foreigners staying in the nearby beachfront bungalows. Enjoy the Sunshine, take a dip in the icy Atlantic before you relax in the evening enjoying a drink of local wine, watching the sunset directly over the ocean in front of you. This is a Magical place!

Great little beach, quaint more rocks than sand. Just hope on the day you go, there aren't any sewage pipe leaks

Great beach for a short swim near the cosy bungalows. A big flat rock near the Trig beacon is a great spot for sunset in summer.

It's a lovely beach/cove, there isn't much sand so most people sit up on the large relatively flat rocks. Perfect place to see the sunset.

I had an amazing braai day with my family, my mom is legit scared of the sea but this time she had fun like a little girlπŸ˜€πŸ˜ definitely a place to be if you want to braai and have an amazing view of the sea and camps bay. And also kids loves it.. Its safe and they can play and swim. The experience was amazing...

Beta beach. Literally no parking so park on main road and follow NSRI sign to beach. Breathtakingly beautiful little beach witth lots of rocks to sunbath on. Gets very packed on a nice day so go early. These are some rare pictures of the beach with no one on it at 10 45am on a Thursday morning. Temperatures was 19 outside with a slight westerly breeze hence a darker looking sea. Usually turquoise blue. Definitely attracts a younger crowd!

This is definitely one of our favourite beaches in Cape Town. It's less crowded during high season and a perfect place for the kiddies, too. You'll find huge boulders which protect you from the wind, it has grassy and sandy strips for the kids to play in, they can search for beautiful seashells, the water is shallow enough to safely walk in and you can take great swims in the water. The beach is also home to a Sea Rescue Crew and has been declared a heritage area. It's a great spot for sunbathing, sundowner evenings and a chilled time at one of the most beautiful beaches in Cape Town. The locals often refer to it as Beta Beach instead of Bakoven Beach. There is also a toilet and you reach the beach after a short walk down a staircase. Parking is limited, so you should get there early to secure yourself a spot.

Great beach, views are spectacular. Swimming is good! (It is a small beach- limited space)

The most breathtaking private beach in cities most exclusive neighbourhood. I've been spending alot of me time here doing cold water dips with my Melanin Mermaid dip squad. You can swim out bay and watch, in awe, the sun rise over the Twelve Apostles or the sunset in truly one of the most unforgettable spots you've ever scene. Take a ride with me.

A very cute beach! Lots big rocks all around to sit on and watch the sunset from. The water is absolutely refreshing and the waves are tiny - perfect for a peaceful swim. Always have the best time when I come here :) and ladies, feel free to take your top off here :)

This is one of the best spots in Cape Town to catch a sunset. Spectacular views! Parking is limited so factor in time to find a spot. A few steps down to the beach. There are no public ablution facilities unfortunately.

One of the if not the best beach for me in cpt a little slice of paradise ! Best sunsets and the water perfect cold but perfect its peaceful even when few tourists and locals go to view sunset still incredible so worth going!

Lovely small beach where you can tan topless, I prefer going in the week as it can get quite busy. Not as crowded as Camps Bay.

  • 5/5 Richard B. 5 months ago on Google
Beautiful spot. Very limited and difficult parking. Also, very much in and amongst peoples homes, so please be considerate of residents. And, as with all places, please keep it beautiful, i.e. don't litter, leave it as you found it.

Hidden gem of Camps bay! It is a beautiful spot to get a great shot of the sea/ big rocks and the Mountain View. Sea crashes beautiful against the rocks and and awesome place to have a beach picnic. But on high sea rise, you must be ready to run closer to the path way because the sea levels do get high! This beach has so much potential and needs to get taken care of instead of having dirt and pipes and weed all over.

Sadly, time on this secret seaside sanctuary will be impacted by Covid restrictions....but on any other day, it is a must visit. Early morning walk, swim, tea on the rocks - a meditation spot without equal.... Enjoy, when you can!

While parking is difficult, perseverance is worthwhile. There are plenty of rocks from which you can soak up the sun and a small slither of white sand beach. The section of ocean is slightly protected so the current isn't too strong but you still get quite a lot of seewead to contend with. It's also the launching point for kayaks and SUPs. Pack some snacks and be sure to bring sunblock, you'll need it.

A very nice spot to experience Cape Town's spectacular sunset.

  • 3/5 Christina C. 3 years ago on Google
Not as amazing as I thought, quite full on a Tuesday in September but easy to find a spot with space between people. The water was freezing cold πŸ˜‚ but a lovely piece of shore between the rocks. Kids and dogs around, old and young people; everyone friendly and responsible.

This is one of Cape Town's hidden gems. Outstanding coffees and food pair with warm friendly service and a relaxed buzz. Highly recommend their legendary Banana Bread.

Sheltered from wind but tons of seaweed atm. Very little sand spots, great shots for rocky sundowner picnics.

Lovely beach area, however parking is incredibly limited and metro cops are always out. Would be much better if you Uber thre or taxi

  • 5/5 Roy 3 years ago on Google
A small litte known beach with massive massive boulders that provide both additional places to sit and admire the view and places to explore when out in the water. Be aware that it is a small beach so space is limited especially in season and there is little parking. Also the water is usually relatively cold. Well worth a visit though

  • 5/5 Keir T. 3 years ago on Google
A beautiful, well maintained, secluded (if still busy) beach area. Absolutely for swimming - the rocks form a natural cove - and relaxing on grass, sand or rock. Go ahead and stand on the larger rocks for a beautiful view over the ocean and coastline! Personally recommend it for sunset snacks and drinks. Great mix of people - lots of dogs, children, families, young professionals all enjoying the ocean together.

Best local beach in Cape Town. Quiet and quite a few rocks you can jump off of. Best to Uber as there isn't much parking available. Buy food and snacks before you get here. No shops or toilets nearby.
