A lovely hotel with a quicky small town feel. The Ostrich Room is one of the best rooms on offer. If you eat in the pub, then the chicken pie is a must!

Very disappointed. Stayed here in August this year and the manageres and barman was so accomodating. Friendly and created a vibe....two month later and we will rater take our money elsewhere...spend over R5000 between 3 on accommodation food and drinks...no compromise....kitchen closed, bar closed...and the manager foes not resemble what this gorgeous place is....art, relaxed vibe...white colored t-shirt and nose the air....so not happy....a whole more to mention but general vive foes not speak to what this place sells itself to be...it all boils down to management...realy not.lekka...and very dissapointing...

We got up and walked out, after being left waiting for over 30 min for a simple coffee and muffin order, in spite of trying to get info out of the staff - very disappointing! Even though it looks like a beautiful place, the miserably poor service approach completely spoils the experience. Edit: judging from some of the other more recent reviews, it looks like this establishment is already heading down the toilet.

KAH lives up to its name. Every wall has an art piece and the rooms are well cleaned and beautifully decorated. Candi, the receptionist was extremely welcoming and every staff member was friendly and eager to help. I really enjoyed staying here. The only thing I didn't like is how house pets had access to the dinning area. Am not a pet person so having a cat & dog around during meals was unpleasant.

Its a Beautifuly Restored Calonial Hotel in the center of Barrydale. The rooms are all differently decorated. The staff are wonderful and the owners Rick and Sue are great hosts

Great area, and accommodating staff. We hosted an event there and the staff made sure everything went as of planned. Could not have done it without their help.

This really was one of the worst rooms I have ever had at that price. It was R2400 a night for a poky little room with no adequate facilities. It was also overlooking a courtyard and guests walked past your room all the time so you could be seen if you opened a window. Absolutely not worth a visit. Try the lodges and guest houses in Barrydale... much better ambiance

Gorgeous hotel in Barrydale! It's bursting with local art and expertly managed by Wayne, whose attention and kindness made our visit such a pleasure. Each room is decorated in a different theme (ostrich, peacock, etc.) and the whole facility has recently been renovated with great wit and care. The staff couldn't have been kinder: we had excellent meals in the restaurant and they even packed special breakfast kits for us when we had to leave early in the morning. Thank you, Rick and Sue, for welcoming us so warmly.

Wayne is the most wonderful hotel manager. And human. He’s extremely kind and caring - even to those who aren’t hotel guests. MY boyfriend and I were stranded at night during the September floods and our only option was to sleep in the car. Wayne was kind enough to make beds for us in the hotel lounge and make us feel at home! If we go to war, Wayne’s coming with us. Thank you for your compassion Wayne. We will return as proper guests every year! Best, Lance and Candy. Ps the gorgeous hotel lounge alone is worth a visit!

Great Sunday night bar meal on the stoep! Well informed and friendly bar staff. Cosy fireplace inside later on. Turn down the spotlights inside for a cosier atmosphere, lovely focus could be your impressive wine and drinks cabinet behind the bar and the chic coloured lamps. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful place! Unfortunately we stayed only one night but we fell in love with the hotel immediately. It has been renovated about a year ago. Every room is unique and overall the place is stylish, full of local art yet cosy. The breakfast was outstanding and our dinner was also very good.

Staying at this hotel surrounded by all the beautiful art, spacious rooms, helpful staff and good food was a special experience. Will recommend any time. Don't forget the beautiful surroundings. Little bakery in hotel is a gem.

Very friendly new manager, whom we met at the Mez restaurant down the street. So we went there for lunch in the lovely back garden. Thanks for inviting us into the unique hotel and the nice chat. Next time we will stay at the Karoo Art Hotel. :)

In the last year, new owners have taken over the running of this gorgeous Karoo hotel. The rooms are excellent and beautifully decorated. The food is so so tasty and there is a wonderful vibe in the bar with live music on the weekends. I cannot fault them in any way, and would give more stars if I was able to. I ran an art course here for a long weekend, and we were treated like royalty. Well done team!

If you drive into the place, Bellydare, you won't expect this beautiful hotel and fantastic rooms and service. Good food. A real recommendation.

We only went for Sunday Lunch. Well priced menu and wine list. Beautiful gardens and tastefully and artistically designed common areas. Can only image what the rooms look like.

We were 3 couples that stayed over on 8 August. We were offered upstair rooms with balconies @ R1660 inc Breakfast. Only one couple got the room we paid for , with no offer to refund to normal rate! The Dinner was a disaster !! We were offered what they had left ! No more Fillet and only Rump steak that ended up being terrible cuts . The Chef was not available as he left early !! No offer of refund of any nature at checking out . I am still waiting for feedback from Pro or Manager 🤬

Delightful gathering for Woman’s Day. The hotel is so well appointed for gatherings like weddings and birthday parties. They deserve all the accolades received.

Just stayed for one night. All staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Our room was right above the kitchen so had a lingering smell to it unfortunately - perhaps an oil diffuser would do the trick. We had an average dinner in the dining room that night. Both meals tasted great and were well presented but my husband found a plastic clothes tag in his curry. The staff immediately apologised and gave him a dessert to try make up for it. The dessert, a creme brûlée was evidently put into the oven to caramelise the top so it was more soup like than anything else (albeit with a hard caramelised top!). Breakfast was probably the highlight of the stay - fabulous French toast.

On the plus side: Had a great 4 day stay and enjoyed the friendliness of the barmen and local townsfolk. Super cozy bar lwith fireplace and great atmosphere. Pub grub was tasty as was the a la carte fillet. Chef very accommodating. Manageress went out of her way to make us feel welcome. On the downside: On checking in waited ages for receptionist to finish phonecall whilst 2 other staff stood around with no greeting, welcome or assistance. Rooms were not serviced during our 3 night stay - only tea and coffee sachets reenished.

I've been missing properly cooked food as I have been on the road for weeks now. Locals recommended that I try Karoo Art hotel for dinner and OH Boys!!!! I was blown away. I had the karoo lamb curry and it was one of the best curry I have had in years....years might be an understatement, I think in my 6 years since I started eating curry. Service at the restaurant was great and the Chef was amazing and interactive.... The next morning I went for a capuccion and the pancakes and they still delivered on good food and service Thank you guys .

Hey this is a cool spot. Food is good. And we're vegetarians. They even made me an awesome smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel with local capers and red onions...recommended!
