This is a cosy, family-owned pub, with a limited menu, because they make sure that what they offer is delicious. The ribs and burgers are their signature dishes and very generous and yummy. The chips are just perfect... crispy outside and fluffy inside. We just had a burger, no drinks. So far, we have tried the tomato smoor burger and the cheese sauce burger, while our guest said the blue cheese and fig preserve burger was delicious too. Those having ribs while we had our burgers said they were also absolutely yummy. I even saw young Boereseuns who I'd expect to have a huge appetite take part of their portions of ribs home! All this in an atmosphere where all the customers chat and interact as if one big party. I suppose you could sit at a corner table and not join in the camaraderie - but why would you when it's such a welcoming place?

What a delightful find on the R60 on this beautiful Sunday! Quaint, laid-back, informal, cosy and very friendly atmosphere. Someone earlier reviewed them as "Fantastic small pub in the traditional old English pub style" - I get that vibe too. The service is just much friendlier :) The staff (owners) take great care of the service and customers. Regte plattelandse gasvryheid. Generous in personality, portions and friendliness. Well priced with value for money. Don't let the photos on the menu mislead you! You are in for a lovely surprise. I had a grilled chicken fillet burger. The fillet was juicy and the bun perfectly toasted. (I'm embarrassed to say that I anticipated a meagre mushroom sauce from a packet. I'm happy to report how wrong I was!) The sauce was very creamy, generous and flavoursome. Honestly, one of the best burgers I've had in a long time!! My friend had the ribs - his nods and "mmmm :)" said it all. The chips... not too crispy, not too oily - just perfect. No fancy trimmings - JUST GOOD FOOD. Another table nearby had beef burgers, which also looked amazing. No skimping on the size of those patties! The food menu is very limited with no salad / healthy options. However... that said: The meals we enjoyed and saw at the other table - De Molen prepare very well. πŸ‘Œ Readers: If you are looking for a salad or poached eggs & avo on rye... pass by. Do stop for a drink, great people, lovely atmosphere (and a delicious, home-made meal with some calories if it suits you πŸ˜‰). Either way, De Molen Pub & Restaurant is worth a visit. I'm not a biker, but I can see this would be a great biker-stop. Also for passers by - it's a lovely experience - from the welcome smiles to the wave goodbye was genuine and heart-warming. Thank you De Molen team. You are on my radar and will surely recommend and visit you again πŸŒŸπŸ˜‰πŸ»
