One of our favourite breakfast spots…we literally keep coming back to Swellendam just to have breakfast here. Awesome staff, relaxed and soothing location by the river and an out of this world breakfast!!! Love this spot.

Lovely little restaurant on the end of a strip filled with quaint boutique restaurants each with its own charisma. La Belle Alliance looks like an old church that has been converted into a stunning unique restaurant. With indoor and outdoor seating, you have options depending on the weather. We sat outside on the deck and enjoy the view of the stream and lush flora. The menu is in both English and Afrikaans which was quite nice because you never see that these days. For a small Afrikaans town I think it’s good they stick to their roots. The menu was good, lots of options and good kids menu as well so our two children were happy (even the little baby). There is no play area however the garden is quite nice to walk around. Trees everywhere gives you ample shade from the hot sun. It really is a beautiful little spot. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food quality was good and actually tasted like “real food”. (These days that is important). It was quite pleasant sitting there. Afterwards we went for a walk at the park directly next to it. I’d recommend this place as a “must” when visiting Swellendam. There’s parking on site as well as on the street. You can walk the strip after your meal, there are interesting stores all around.

Lovely stop on the riverside, birds singing, peaceful from the traffic. Our second stop there, pleasant again. As an international tourist guide, I felt unlucky to land up next to a very loud tour guide, whose guests were quiet and considerate. Thankfully, there is lots of space and good tables. Just make sure your omelet is cooked if you prefer well-done eggs. We had 1 x Trout and 1 x1 Bolognaise omelets, with your choice of bread. We spotted this little gem on the river as we were driving past. So glad we stopped. The service was great. The scenery is beautiful! And we really enjoyed our fish 'n chips.

The Breakfast was good, coffee made to my specification.🤭. I don't quite understand why hot food is served on cold plates, especially in the winter, and seated outside. The setting is wonderful! Staff are efficient.

Lovely atmosphere, dog friendly and nice menu

Fast and friendly service of delicious food. The menu is printed in both Afrikaans and English, with a wide variety of breakfast, lunch and dessert items. I had a breakfast ratatouille, which was fragrant and well seasoned with two perfectly poached eggs. The tables are under shady trees or on a deck overlooking a river. The tables are also well spaced (not crowded together) , which makes it ideal for the Covid conscious and quite serene. We asked before hand if our little dog was allowed, and they said yes. The parking is also quite convenient. The portions are satisfying and not over priced. Overall, it was a very nice experience.

A well run restaurant with consistently good food. It is wonderfully pet friendly. Dogs are welcomed with a bowl of water and we get to choose something for them to eat off the "Dog menu". Happy Dogs.

Super food, setting, and service! Both the Spaghetti carbonara and the Pork fillet dishes were excellent. Great experience!

Excellent restaurant. Friendly, swift service. Stunning views which makes for a lovely atmosphere. The food is fresh and well crafted with caring finishing touches. This restaurant gave me the impression that they truly care for their customers. Left feeling refreshed. Would rate higher if I could! FYI - their coffee is up to standard, not the bitter heavy stuff most restaurants serve.

Awesome breakfast with a beautiful view of the river. Lots of shade so its cool enough to enjoy coffee on a hot day. They are dog friendly as well.

Stunning location, with seating options inside, outside in a courtyard and on a wooden deck overlooking the river. Loadshedding while we were there, so a few menu items were unavailable, but service was friendly and welcoming anyway and a plan was made. We had a wonderful breakfast and will certainly be back.
