All I have to say is if you enjoyed Warike in Surry Hills you will LOVE this place. Who would of thought a Peruvian/Chinese/Japanese fusion would work. Guess what? It does and its oh so good. If you love seafood, I cant recommend enough the oysters, sashimi and ceviche dishes they offer. Their cocktails are beautiful. The atmosphere is so lively and the venue itself it so creative with its wall art. I loved every second here, make sure you order a little of the whole menu, you'll be blown away I promise.

Folklor is the second Peruvian restaurant brought to you by the chef and owners of Warike in Surry Hills. Peruvian food is a spectacular blend of flavors with chillies and freshest ingredients and Folklor brings you the best cuisine fused with influences from the Japanese and chinese migrants who moved to Peru. This newly opened restaurant is a great place to dine in and have cocktails with friends even before theatre. First up go for their oysters with ponzu and yuzu granita. Then Peru is known for their signature ceviches and tiraditos. Sashimi grade kingfish ceviche classico, with fresh seafood plantain chips ansld leche de tigre dressing, their octopus tiradito with olive puree and their exotico with prawns and sea urchin. These are top class. Then we had their nigiri from their in house sushi chef. Salmon nigiri and this amazing wagyu beef a la pobre topped with quails egg. We then had a delicious wagyu beef rump grilled on the Japanese robata charcoals. Tender smoky with huacatay sauce. Peruvian dumplings and fried rice chau fa show the Chinese "Chifa" influence in their menu and offers a different take with spices and smokiness from peruvian spices and ingredients. Chef Hector Chunga brings a wealth of cooking experience from his time in restaurants in Peru, his time in Japan as the chef for the Peruvian embassy and his time in australia heading up Inka in Canberra and Warike. Truly a creative chef striving for perfection. Give them a try my friends. You wont regret it

Came here for the Peruvian Independence celebration and the live music. It was very quiet throughout our dining experience. The food was okay nothing too amazing as I know Peru/fusion has many amazing sauces but this wasn’t shown in the dishes. The waitress forgot one of our order- the vegetarian sushi but that was okay as we ordered too much already. There were only 3 other table dining that day and our water is consistently empty needing to keep asking to refill. Overall, it’s a three star as nothing was major wrong just didn’t have the wow factor of wanting to come back. Warike in Surry hills is super delicious if you looking for some Peruvian dishes.

Was very excited to visit this bar, it brings a unique and exciting combination of dishes from two beautiful countries; Peru and Japan. The atmosphere of the bar is nice, there was a live band on the night we went, however the place was quite empty for a Friday night in the city. The two waitresses we had were very polite and professional, they explained the different dish options for us to choose from. When we werent satisfied with one of our dishes - the wagyu because of how chewy it was,she kindly offered a complementary dessert. The majority of the dishes served, particularly the scallops and octopus tasted amazing. Unfortunately, the downside for this place is the small variety of cocktail drinks that they have to offer. For a bar that combines flavours and alcohol from 2 countries that pry themselves on their unique mixtures of drinks, the bar does not offer much variety of drinks in general. Adding to that, the food is average and quite overpriced. We ordered the wagyu, unfortunately it was extremely chewy - for one of the most expensive items on the menu this was not well executed. Adding to this the wait time for meals and drinks was quite long particularly for a bar that was under half full.

Best Peruvian food that we have had in Australia was definitely worth the drive up to Sydney! The Ceviche Classico was delicious and the Chaufa Folklor was amazing! Have been missing the Peruvian Chaufa a lot and this dish definitely went above and beyond satisfying our taste buds. The addition of chancho to the Chaufa was a pleasant surprise and brought back memories of eating pan con chicharrón in Peru. The arroz con leche was also incredible and was definitely worth tasting it’s delicious flavours, even after being incredibly full from the Ceviche and Chaufa. Every dish was perfectly presented and brought many surprises in taste and flavour. The service was incredible with the waitress giving an explanation on each dish it’s origins and ingredients. This was a lovely touch to the service and experience. The Chica Morada cocktails were fantastic, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who misses the Chicha Morada from Peru or wants to try a new sweet delicious Peruvian cocktail. My partner often complains about the lack of Peruvian food in Australia. Folklor definitely satisfied the both of us.

Upon entering the restaurant you get immediately struck by the vibes and culture of Japanese and Peruvian. The dishes were not just delicious, but also audacious in their creativity. Credits to the Chef who added this their delicacy. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. The very essence of a dining experience, the bridge between the kitchen's creations and the diner, is service. And it was not fulfilled. Would love to recommend The Wagyu and Salmon Nigiri a must have. And also can you REFUND my booking fees and UPDATE the reservation as Left at the end of shift. Overall it was a culinary Expedition with few detour.

Lovely place to come for lunch sitting outside in the autumn sunlight and enjoying their great pisco sour variations. The ceviche is delicious with complex flavours and really well presented. All in all a great relaxed place to come for Sunday lunch.

Amazing restaurant! Not familiar with the Peruvian side of food but every dish we had was amazing with such great flavours that went well. Would recommend them all! Had the short rib (devine!), the octopus, oysters, seafood rolls, snapper (amazing!), furai crab (but couldn’t taste/see the soft shell crab), dumplings, pulled pork bao & side potatoes. The cocktails were great also. Loved the live music, the only thing which was lacking was the service, it would’ve been great if they were more attentive especially when we were needing to order more drinks. Apart from that the staff were very friendly. Overall a great night with fantastic food & live music.

"I had the pleasure of dining at Lima Nikkei restaurant and bar, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The food here is incredibly fresh, especially the seafood, which truly stands out in terms of quality. The service was not only attentive but also friendly, making the whole dining

Absolutely stunning tasting menu. Easily fit into pre-theatre schedule. Service efficient and ultra friendly, too. Inside is quite loud with pumping music. If that's not your vibe, do what we did and sit out the front. This is going to become a regular stop for us!
