Al-Hamidiyah Market is one of the most famous markets of Damascus in Syria, and the most important and most famous of all the markets in the East, and the most beautiful and elegant. Historians have described it as spacious and magnificently built, and described it as an industrial commercial city in the heart of old Damascus. Researchers have described it as the jewel of the markets and the most beautiful, and it is completely covered with a roof of wood. The iron is full of small holes through which the sun penetrates during the day and is paved with stone - black basalt - and is a meeting place for visitors and tourists from all over the world. Al-Hamidiyah Market begins at the end of Al-Nasr Street with Al-Thawra Street in the Darwishiyya area, and the market extends for a distance of approximately two miles, the first part of which is located next to Damascus Citadel contains many mosques and ancient historical buildings, and its sides are lined with shops of every kind and type on two floors, and many markets branch out from it, such as - Al-Saroujiyah Market - Al-Buzuriyah Market - Goldsmiths Market - Al-Manakhliyah Market - Al-Asrouniyah Market - Silk Market - Bridal Market - Market Al-Qababiya - Tailors Market and others. Al-Hamidiyah Market ends at the gate of the Temple of Jupiter of Damascus and its towering columns, and from there to the square in front of the Umayyad Mosque in the heart of the old city.

The iron is full of small holes through which the sun penetrates during the day and is paved with stone - black basalt - and it is a meeting place for visitors and tourists from all over the world. The market was built in its current form during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid I in 1780 AD and took its name Hamidiya from the days of that Ottoman Sultan. Al-Hamidiyah is famous for its ancient history. A visit to the East is not complete without visiting the most famous heritage market in the East, Al-Hamidiyah Market. Travelers mentioned it often in their visits to Syria and the East. All types of goods of every type and color are sold in the market, the most important of which are heritage industries such as copper products, arabesques, shells, fabrics of all kinds, silk and cotton, embroideries, Syrian heritage industries, and all types of ready-made clothes, decorative items, shoes, brocade, upholstery, carpets, gold, antiques, gifts, and heritage items [1].

This souk is super big, you can find a lot of beautiful things, souvenirs, clothes, etc.. There is especially this specific smell of damascus that you never find elsewhere, a mixture of coffee jasmine and spices.
