One of the biggest wells in the Arabian Peninsula. The well dates back to the pre-islamic era, and was recently restored as part of King Saud project. Tayma is a large oasis with a long history of settlement, located in northeastern Saudi Arabia at the point where the trade route between Yathrib (Medina) and Dumah begins to cross the Nefud desert. Tayma is located 264 km southeast of the city of Tabouk, and about 400 km north of Medina. The characteristic environment of the oasis is best represented by the Bir Hadaj well of some 18 m diameter in the city centre and extended palm gardens. The rapidly growing modern settlement presently covers about one third of ancient Tayma, which has an estimated area of some 950 ha. The most visible remains of the ancient occupation are the high city walls.

Another must visit location in old Tayma city. A well persevered historic attraction. There is still water and fish in the pool. There were few official guides present when we went there. Very clean and hopefully it stays clean !

It is a good place, but it needs more information or stories about this well. Also, they need to clean the water from the trash. Also, they should promote the old town just next to it including the farms.

Amazing to imagine how in the old days huge caravans on the frankincense trail stopped here to still the thirst of their animals and themselves. Lovely place which could be a bit upgraded for the coming tourists, for which this will be one of the highlights.

👍👍 Not exactly sure what the name of this mountain is, but a local who drove past informed our group it's called "Harp Rock". Given the shape, seems appropriate. The sandstone rock is super interesting as it upon first look it appears that the rock is one whole piece but when one walks around, it turns...
