We tried 2 of their famous food. The 碗糕 should be made from steaming rice, prawn, pork and mushroom together. This is a local must eat Taiwanese food. To me I find it normal but it seems good to my family. The fish soup is rather interesting. The fish cake is well made while the soup has a hint of sour after taste. Note that the shop has a side store where you can have a good rest - consider that if you are bring a big group or a family.

Guohua street, also known as street food in Tainan. There a few famous restaurant at the crossroads of Guahua street and Minzu street. The shop sells radish cake but I didn't enjoy the flavor. I prefer the traditional white one with braised pork on it.

They only have 2 things on the menu - a rice pudding type cake and thick fish soup. Both are very local Tainanese dishes. It’s not for the uninitiated. The rice pudding has a texture that is not easy to like if you’ve never tried this before. But this place has a queue, so it must be good at making these 2 things (or else it would be out of business). Both are cheap at 35 NT, and worth trying if you are adventurous with food, like Anthony Bourdain always says. No real atmosphere or service. Just get your food, eat and go. Before you go to the next place on your tour of Guohua Road.

A super popular rice cake spot. Waited for about 30 mins to get a table. I like that the rice cake itself is flavory, yet there're too many fat meats which makes me hard to finish (some people may love it but I personally prefer lean meat with rice cake). They only sell two items, rice cake and thick soup. The price is cheap (NT$35) and they take cash only.

Surprisingly delicious! Even though it looks awful. The custard is delicious! Highly recommended. In and out visit.

Amazing rice cake with pork and shrimps! You should definitely sit down in the store and enjoy although it’s rather busy. You can add garlic and/or chili onto the rice cake if you like. Enjoy it!

We got a rice cake here. Insane. So tasty and delicious. Worth also ordering it with thick soup on the side. A great spot in Guohua St. Very affordable, safe and fun area to enjoy.

First time trying the bowl Kueh. Love the taste. There was pork, prawns, and mushrooms. The gravy was savoury and similar to mashed potato sauce. I like how there were many condiments to go with it like chili and wasabi.

Next to the popular spring roll shop, Fusheng Hao Rice Cake or locally known as wa-kuey is a must try when in Guohua St, West Central, Tainan. In fact, this Guohua Street, is full of local old school favorites. Of one do not have much time in Tainan, just visit this street and you would have savored 80% of local food that is signature to Tainan. We love Fusheng Hao is because the rice cake is just perfect, not mushy, and the texture is just right and the aroma of the rice, is just good.

Tainan traditional food. A bit Sweet for me, but that’s the point of Tainan style

Wa Kway, or literally cake in a bowl, is a common market snack in Taiwan. I wasn't expecting much when dining here but the soft cake texture nearly blew my mind. The cake itself is glutinous and velvety, kinda like some Hong Kong carrot cake, and when paired with bits of shrimp and braised fatty pork, really becomes quite a dish. Their fish ball thick soup is nice and sweet too. Do drop by and try one of Taiwan's traditional streetside snack, and a very well done one to boot!

It would be a disaster if you follow the address that TripAdvisor provides you trying to find this street food place. It is better to find the entrance of Yongle Market on Minzu Road Section 3 first and then you will see Fu Sheng Hao right there. Their ricecake in the bowl and fishball soup taste good 👍

Feels weird at first time. But it was nice. It's rice after all. Taste like ZongZi (Rice Dimpling) Porridge.

Just one of those place you have to stop and eat at when you get the chance. This restaurant is known for their two dishes, fish ball soup (35 NTD) ($1 USD) and their steamed rice cake (also 35 NTD). the soup is thick but full of flavor and extremely hearty. The rice cake is one that most won't expect. It's sweet and savory and filled with meat and prawn. Make sure to try the condiments along with the dish. If you're not familiar with these dishes, I'd suggest going as a pair and trying one of each which was enough for us. Bear in mind the line might get long as there is limited seating.
