The staff are incredible, and they went out of their way to make our stay lovely. Because of covid, many restrictions are still in place and they handle it smoothly and professionally. Many restaurants needed booking and they even made reservations for us. Will definitely come back.

I was with my partner and overall experience was not good at all. We tried to order room service on the day we arrived but spent around 10min ordering food in English- finally the foods we wanted to eat were sold out. 3 dishes came but none of them were delicious and all salty and noodle was terrible. When we checked out, I was trying to spend redeemed points but since I haven’t requested when I ordered, I couldn’t even use it. For those terrible room service food, I had pay nearly 50euros which is quite expensive considering Tainan overall cost. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone who is close to me.

Hotel is run-down and dirty, furnishing and fixtures old, skin became itchy after sitting on the sofa in the room. Even hairdryer can only be used in the room without a mirror! Breakfast is a low quality affair. Ist time here. Paid nearly NT20000 for two nights expecting a classy hotel. What a ripoff! I am done with the shangrila group and will never stay in a shangrila hotel anywhere in the world again. Can’t understand why there good reviews for this run down 3rd rate hotel???

Service was impeccable but the rooms are outdated. It may have once been a five star hotel but needs some work. There were dirty utensils in our room, and the towels and bathrobes had been washed and bleached too many times to be comfortable. The carpets in our room also felt sticky and dirty. If you’re looking for a five star hotel, I’d look elsewhere.

Services not well advertised. Internet drops constantly, couldn't work from the room. They held a wedding in the workout room of the building so I couldn't use it without walking into a wedding. Very expensive to wash clothing. The elevators took over two minutes to come to the floor during busy times. Sewer lines gushing outside the building like a spout. Staff was kind and helpful many times but also hostile during odd interactions. Disappointed in this experience.

As first time visitors in Taiwan, this is the best international hotel we have lived. We were warmly welcomed by front desk Carlos and his colleague at concierge desk. They provided all the services we needed and the concierge officer organized us a detailed and optical plan to hike in Taroko Mt. in an amazing effectiveness. The club lounge Horizon is a beautiful place with gorgeous food and high quality staff.

Great 5-star hotel. I was here for a business trip, and stayed for 3 weeks. As a long stay guest I enjoyed many additional benefits, such as dining vouchers, personal welcoming at the breakfast and a lovely complimentary cake on my birthday. If I go to Tainan again for business, I will surely choose Shangri-La once more!

Very classy hotel with large, spacious rooms, excellent concierge service, and great facilities. We almost always stay in the Horizon Club rooms, which gives us access to the Horizon Club Happy Hour (5pm to 7pm). They offer a selection of free soft drinks, cocktails, coffee, and tea; they also provide light snacks. The breakfast buffet here is one of my family's favorites - very delicious, diverse, and well-prepared. The staff is incredibly professional and friendly. We traveled here with a 7 month old and they offered us a baby bathtub, baby soap & shampoo, and a bottle sterilizer. They even offered a crib but we had brought our own pack-and-play. If you're visiting Tainan, this hotel is definitely worth a stay.

Outstanding hotel. Great pool, however they should think about buying a floating pool skimmer and some fake owls, kites or flags to keep the pigeons away. Happy hour at the lounge was fantastic. Service is top notch. I think my room was haunted, but had a very pleasant night all the same.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay here. From the check in process to the beautiful spacious room and the convenient location, everything was perfect. The gym was very decent and I was able to complete some good workouts there. Would definitely be staying here next time we are in Tainan.

Stayed here for nearly 40 days over two trips and it has been nearly flawless. Classy rooms, great food and impeccable service make this one hard to beat. The staff are the true cherry on top, going to great lengths to make your stay comfortable. I must specially mention the sales manager Ms. Andrea Wu and Ms. Cynthia Huang, who made sure I secured a room on busy days. Overall, a great hotel. Would absolutely recommend to anyone staying in Tainan.

We had a room with 2 big beds and the bathroom was spacious. However the carpet looked old and the room didn't smell good.

Staff is very polite, location super, room management not worth even 2 stars (be prepared for piles of garbage, callings for toilet paper, water and other necessities). Rooms are outdated and ugly, bed very uncomfortable, TV located at 90 degrees from the bed pointing to the window ?!, breakfast was not tasty, cheap ingredients.

I have stayed at this hotel for over a month all together. The staff is friends and offers amazing customer service. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Location is close to a lot of food and it is attached to a mall.

  • 5/5 Roberto G. 1 year ago on Google
The stay here has been phenomenal. The staff is very kind and courteous, even to foreigners. The included breakfast buffet is delicious and you can go a full week without eating the same thing twice. The bathroom accommodations (smart seat, bathtub, and overhead speakers) are a luxury I probably will try to duplicate in my first home. Very relaxing to kill the lights and take a bath with a spotify playlist.

I had a wonderful stay in Shangri-La! The hotel is really 5 stars but the true treasure of this hotel are the people in the staff. Horizon Lounge was very kind to me while I stayed in Taiwan for 2 months. Specially a bit thank you to: Teresa; Dora; Jamie; Winston; Armond; Larry; Matthew; Nina; Shirin; Anna; Anny; Ivan and Peak. These people made me feel welcome and always had a smile with them everyday. I will stay here again anytime. Thank you Shangri-La.

We’ve stayed here a couple of times now. The staff are excellent. They provide 5 star service. The rooms however are outdated. They needed updating probably 5 years ago. Decently clean as well, though attention to detail could be improved. The location is also excellent, with restaurants and shopping in the adjoining mall. Overall a great place, and will be a true “5 star” place once renovations are made.

Conveniently located just beside Tainan Train Station. Wonderful service, really awesome. Could very well be the tallest building in Tainan, had unmatched & unblocked view from my room on the highest floor. Would definitely stay here again if I ever visit Tainan again.

I slipped and fell yesterday morning at the entrance to the pool. The staff on hand treated my wound, very attentive. At that time, I thought it was a great gesture that they asked for my room number. Upon checkout, business as usual😅 Only then, my wife decided to voluntarily inform front desk of what happened… I think front desk has demonstrated that A.I. could not have come sooner; that human interaction isn’t entirely necessary, even at the Shangri-La.

This must be the worst hotel in the entire Shangri-La chain. The room is run-down, smelly, ugly, and noisy. The staff is reckless, impolite, and poorly trained. When we asked why our room has not been cleaned, the receptionist told us we booked an "inferior room" and they get cleaned last. Inferior guests must know their place.

Very valuable 5-star hotel sitting in the center of Tainan city. Gorgeous wide and long distance view of the jianan plain from the windows. Very good service and enjoyable room while my whole family stayed.

Stayed for only one night but the staff were very kind and helpful, room was large and the view was very nice. Had everything that I needed. Great location near NCKU and Tainan station

This is another wonderful hotel from the Shangri-la hotels around the world. Excellently located and very easily accessible. There is a central small train stop next door. Literally 2 minutes from the hotel. The rooms are large, with very comfortable beds, well cleaned. The bathroom is also large, it also has a bathtub. The hotel has a good team and it is easy to communicate when one needs something extra. Separately, it has a good pool, cafe, restaurant. Everything one needs for their stay. I recommend it as a choice while in Tainan.

Super friendly staffs with nice food at Horizon club. The room is spacious with splendid views. Good location and the facilities are well maintained. Probably the best hotel in Tainan.

I always choose the hotel Shangri La because the staff is very nice and friendly. I get a quick help from the receptionist and concierge. The food is fantastic and rooms are clean though.

  • 2/5 Peter 2 years ago on Google
The hotel is very dated and seems like something from the 90s. Room had a poor quality kettle, old furniture and an old TV. I would expect a coffee machine in every room from Shangri-La. Breakfast was very poor compared to Shangri-La in Taipei and other top hotels. On our second morning we didn't even bother with breakfast as it was so dissapointing. Staff were all very friendly and clearly they are well trained. Overall, it was fine but not good enough for the cost. I love the Taipei Shangri-La but next time im in Tainan, I'll book a different hotel.

Amazing hotel! It sits near Tainan station, the staff is friendly and tries to answer any questions, and the room is spacious, spotless and immaculate. I requested early check-in on the higher floor with a face view and could check in at 1:30!! The room is just amazing, gorgeous with West facing which might enjoy the sunset from a higher floor. Also, the amenities are so pretty such as small bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body soap. I love those small handy-sized amenities, while I hate “environment-friendly” reusable style shampoo and body soap. Room sandal is also nice. Satisfied so much!!! Definitely, I will be back again!

Spent two nights here. The rooms are big and awesome from the rooms. The room is starting to show its age a little, but the bed is comfortable and the room is clean. Friendly staff and a real legitimate gym. We had issues with our room keys, apparently if you keep it too close to your cell phone it stops working.

Selling points are their location and view from the room. Quite dated room but well maintained. Minus 1 star for their breakfast. Dissapointed with their pastries during breakfast, I wish the croissant during breakfast was as good as the croisaant they sell at their cafe on the first floor. Not about their hotel, but if you come here try their roasted duck at their Shanghai Pavilion restaurant on the top floor. It was so good.

This Hotel is not 5 star hotel. Shame on the management. They have rooms that don't offer soap and shampoo snd want to charge extra for it. Stay away. I have been in other Hotels from this chain and didn't have such experience but here we go. 5 star hotel with Delux room that does not include shower hand soap, shampoo or anything like this m. Shame on them!!! It is good they had toilet paper included

Great hotel, awesome staff, very friendly and professional for executive guests. One negative thing which is all over Taiwan, why you have to wear a swimming cap in the pool? We are not living in the 40s anymore and Taiwan is the only country next to North Korea which is doing this.

I have to give it to them. It is a very nice place. I loved the room, the meals and the activities you can do indoors. They have a really nice room with wonderful views of the city. The meals are buffet style, so you have many options of both western and taiwanese meals. They a nice swimming pool, spa and sauna. The sauna was very relaxing. Overall, it was a great experience.

This was a first visit to Tainan for my family and I and we couldn’t have chosen a better hotel. The hospitality we received from the staff was second to none and we commend the excellent service we received even though we only stayed for one night. Thank you again to Ms Alice Chou, Chef Omar (thank you for the lovely desserts), Mr Peter Pan and everyone else who made our stay and trip so memorable. The level of English was excellent not to mention the quality of food and buffet selection. The room and view on the 35th floor was amazing as was the 24th club service lounge. I simply have to thank the staff again for accommodating our request to have an ala carte dinner on a week night. We would highly recommend Shangrila Tainan to anyone looking for a special experience. 👍

The reservation function is not friendly for room type choices. It must be separated two times to order . Also, the extra charge for oversea purchase could be improve as local mode to service citizens. On the whole, the employee’s service, comfortable room , SPA and view, also the buffet are the most excellent . Good for the family trip in Tainan.

One of the top hotels in Tainan I believe. Just a 3 minute walk to the train station and you can reach most of the central Tainan City within a 10 minute taxi ride. There is a mall nearby, so you get everything you need easily. The room was comfortable and hygienic. Worth the price.

High-quality hotel right in the front of the rear of Tainan train station. It is so tall and striking, and its hall so grand. The building is roomy and spacious, and it has many space for group activities like meeting or feast. The hall downstairs is a terrific place for banquet, and the buffet restaurant upstairs is also a great place for dining! The room is clean and cozy. The bed is comfortable. Since it has an excellent location, it is truly convenient for those on business trip to visit Tainan without vehicle. The staff is good. One can really enjoy all the service provided here to have nice impression of the city.

  • 5/5 Peter H. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel is very nice. We had a high floor Grand Deluxe room which was very comfortable and spacious. Great view of Tainan. Very nice bathroom with large tub and washlet. The hotel is also very convenient - right by the train station and also connected to the Far East department store which also has a food court. Breakfast buffet had many choices. Hotel staff was very professional and also valued safety during COVID times. The only negative was the room had very few power outlets especially by the bedside for charging our various devices. But all in all, very comfortable stay.

  • 4/5 Reiser 1 year ago on Google
Facilities are old but maintained well. Service and dining are meeting Shangari-La standard. I appreciate helpful staffs. But in my last visit reception told me check-in time imust be 4pm - which is not in my reservation confirmation letter… and it’s not the Shangari-La I know anymore. To future guests - confirm check-in time or your itinerary and experience may be overshadowed.

How it is called a star hotel with all bowls, spoons old and dirty! Do they know about dishwasher's to clean utensils even after hand washing dishes. Too bad and unhygienic! Hate it.

It is one of the best hotels to live in Tainan. It is located just adjacent to Tainan railway station. Hotel is situated next to university. Hotel is well organized and managed by professional staffs. The hotel have large, spacious and comfortable rooms with beautiful view of Tainan Park and city. The hotel has one of the best and delicious food facilities. Rooms are usually cleaned and rooms are equipped with all modem facilities. The hotel has two floors dedicated for big gathering for parties, marriage or conference activities.

Terrible stay. The hotel is not what I expected from the international shangri-la brand. Terrible experience for foreigner as I been ask about my entry date to taiwan 🇹🇼 more than 4 times as I was staying here. I was previously staying in taipei Grand Hyatt and I never got interrogated. If you want to make money from foreigners please respect us. I provided the information more than 4 times. I didn't pay to for 5 stars hotel to ask to be disrespected from your staff or hotel. Worst shangri-la experience

Nice city view from 10 or more floor, reception counter is friendly and helpful, lounge, bar, hotel services are good, however the dining services can be improved as more variety of food and beverage should be included for tourist from multi-nation.

  • 4/5 Arne Van L. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel is amazing! The breakfast is excellent and the dinner buffet is the best you find in Tainan. However because it’s a bit outdated, the carpets are a bit rough together with the very high price. I rate it 4 stars.

  • 5/5 Eric L. 1 year ago on Google
The room is with great view. The breakfast buffet has so many choices, we have a great stay. The parking is with the department store, and it's free.

  • 5/5 Alex W. 1 year ago on Google
Well-furnished hotel situated in the bustling region of Tainan - in fact, a mere two minutes from TRA Tainan Station by foot, and no more than 10~15 minutes from some of the best local delicacies in town. The grand structure itself stands at nearly 40 levels tall, though due to the lack of a visually appealing skyline in Tainan, the view offered at the upper floors of the hotel may be underwhelming.

  • 3/5 Ron D. 1 year ago on Google
For a Shangri-La property, I was pretty disappointed overall. In communications prior to arriving, I was provided incorrect information. We were not assisted with our luggage. And many minor annoyances considering this is supposed to be a five star property. The rooms were not special and the sheets had dark stripes/marks from being stuck in the washer or dryer. I liked having a bathtub and shower separated. Considering what we paid, the breakfast buffet was 3/5. Selection was good, but the quality was inconsistent amongst the selection. When checking out (prior to noon on a business day) I requested to speak to the General Manager, I was told only the duty manager could speak with me. I asked for the GM’s business card and it was not provided. I expressed our appreciation for two of their staff going above and beyond, but felt the duty manager didn’t care and wanted me to go. If you look at my previous reviews on Google, I tend to see the best in places. Overall, this property did not meet my expectations of a five star hotel and was not worth the amounts they charged. Look elsewhere when in Tainan.
