Great place. Was on a food tour so only had two items here. Both were top quality. Braised meat sauce rice was very fragrant if fatty. 5/5 Noodles are their signature and did not disappoint. Soup was very flavorful, noodles were very springy, and the meat sauce brought it all together. 5/5 Decor is very traditional and old style. Sadly, they were closed (unexpectedly and without warning) when we came to dine again. Apparently, they "needed rest after working too hard over the two day long weekend"... sigh visit(s): 20201127 20191013 20191011

We enjoyed the food here, authentic Taiwanese food, the Tainan style. The rice they used in this restaurant was incredible, what a memorable texture! We sampled the soup, braised pork over rice, Dan zai noodle, meatball in sticky rice and Shrimp roll. Good representation for the restaurant.

Really good for small dishes like lurou fan and prawn noodles. Even the large bowls are small portions so you can try even more dishes. Other notable dishes include milk fish, unagi, pork hock, homemade sotong balls and prawn fritters

I recently visited 度小月, a restaurant specializing in local Tainan cuisine, and I was thoroughly impressed by the authentic flavors and knowledgeable staff. The dishes we ordered were perfect for sharing, and I particularly enjoyed their Tainan-style beef soup and oyster omelet. The cozy atmosphere and attentive service make 度小月 a must-visit restaurant for anyone looking to try some of Tainan's most beloved and delicious dishes. I highly recommend sampling some of their authentic specialties, and I can't wait to come back and try more!

The history of this restaurant is the stuff of legend. They have the original hawker bowl that lasted for 125 years, still with the magical build up of oil from their superb Danzai noodles. We enjoyed all our other dishes too. Highly recommended.

Clean environment, this restaurant is soon filled up with tourists. Mala beef and tofu are amazing. Brown sugar syrup of the tofu pudding is fragrant and tasty. Du Xiao Yue is famous for their Dan Zai Noodle, and Saboro Rice ( Traditional Tainan Snacks ) however I find the Saboro is not fragrant and the rice is way too soggy, honestly it taste below average. Dan Zai Noodle taste pretty good though a little pricey for the portion. P.s Only cash payment here and you might need to spend some time to get a car park here.

  • 2/5 Shawn 1 year ago on Google
Came for the Danzai Noodles and was extremely disappointed. Quite pricy for the portion and the noodles were bland and over cooked. Definitely wouldn't recommend. Also had the crispy pork intestine which was delicious, but definitely not crispy and also quite pricey for the portion. Lastly I had the Milk Fish. Definitely the best part of the meal. Was cooked perfectly and very juicy. Overall I'd still recommend eating anywhere else. You'll save money, get more food, and it will be even more delicious.

Food was delicious but a lot of the little items we ordered tasted pretty ordinary and sometimes a bit bland. I had some higher expectations as this place came recommended but if I was going to spend a bit more at a sit-down place I may go elsewhere. Service is amazing as they take very good care of the customers and are very attentive. Restaurant is also located very close walking distance to a lot of shops, coffee shops, and smaller restaurants.

Classic Tainan food, very clean, fast service, great taste. Don’t miss the 肉燥飯 cooked in a pot that’s been steaming continuously since the place opened. Don’t leave Tainan before you try this place!

  • 4/5 Marc H. 5 years ago on Google
Very tasty and affordable restaurant dining. We had the Danzi noodles, which comes in 2 sizes. Luckily we ordered the small (really quite small portion) so we could try the other dishes. The 2 dishes we ordered - cabbage and oyster - were really and cooked quite differently, in that they are quite wet/soggy. So do be aware in case you’re looking for something dryer.

A clean and comfortable a/c place to enjoy Tainan dining. All the food is very good. The taro cake was the pleasant surprise for me. Expectation was moderate but the taste was really good. For a hyped up traditional brand name, they delivered good outcome. Service was friendly and prompt. We tried for dinner a couple of weeks ago but was a long wait. This time, we came 140pm on Thursday and no wait. A large menu with too many choices. The original shop decades ago served the dang dang noodle. The noodle today is not as good as that old dingy shop 41 years ago. But fond memories has a way with pleasing the brain.

There's plenty of seating with takes with chairs, and other lower tables with traditional stools. The decor is enchanting, with all artifacts displayed against the walls, and old photos. The restroom upstairs had a beautiful entrance with stones on the floor and a tree truck mural. The good was excellent. I recommend what we had: braised pork with rice, monkfish belly, and a very copious oyster omelette. The oysters were very flavourful. The staff was kind and very helpful. We realized as we were going out that they had closed for their afternoon break half an hour earlier, but they had not told us, as they wanted us to enjoy the experience.

Very good restaurant in Tainan, highly recommend it. Food is very good , everything we tasted turned out to be brilliant. Service was very good as well . They have an English menu, so it's easy to order for tourists. Must try if you are visiting.

We had a great time in this restaurant. It’s a must place when you are looking for authentically flavored Tainan cuisines and snacks. The food was wonderful with the warmest hospitality and service of staff. We brought a tiny cake to celebrate the birthday of a family member, and they even played birthday music and sang the song for us in the restaurant. It was a memorable dinner.

It is a must try restaurant in Tainan. This signature noodle looks simple, but it is really delicious. We decided order the side dish, spicy toufu, and it is surprisingly good, not too spicy.

Very disappointing compared to how it was ten, twenty years ago, according to my parents. Personally, I found it very average — couldn’t taste the shrimp in the sauce/soup, and the portions were quite small. Even as a semi-tourist from Taipei, the noodles were overpriced and, sadly, underwhelming. The only appetizing dish? The dessert, daily handmade aiyu (愛玉). Real aiyu is becoming more and more rare, and the aiyu here was not only the real deal, but also surprisingly innovative: the lemon-based sweet soup paired extremely well with the candied pineapple slices on top. An interesting spin on a classic Taiwanese dessert, and well worth the NTD45. Maybe skip the noodles, but don’t skimp on the aiyu!

Simple Taiwanese food that's full of flavour. Their Danzai noodles are hand made (you can watch the cook assemble it). The place is great looking inside and out, with wooden furniture and vintage Taiwan vibe. Friendly service!

One person ordered a bowl of Danzi noodles and two dishes. I could see that the service staff showed their faces and attitude. It gets worse immediately.
