Order: Go to counter and get the order form. Pay at cashier and they issue you a ticket number. Pay attention to the server who will shout out the number. Food: The pork lard rice is the star. Remember to mix well before you eat otherwise too salty at the base of the rice. ***you must add egg (recommend half cook/sunny side up). Ordered the prawn fritters (must try), taiwan sausage (average), fish ball soup (can skip), onion cold dish (must try), cucumber cold dish (skip), skewers (skip), toufu (average to can try).

The shop is nestled within a small alley which was an adventure to locate. This shop has been renovated to give out an old era vintage vibe to it. The star here is the humble pork lard with rice. They have added a runny fried egg for extra substance and flavor. Drizzle some light soya sauce and mix it all up and enjoy. Nothing spectacular flavor wise. Too light flavored in my opinion.

20200501: apparently, they are famous for their rice with pork lard (TWD 40). didn't really like it as it was too oily and the lard really didn't add anything flavor wise. maybe it's an acquired taste. the egg could not salvage the dish, YMMV. their braised ground pork sauce rice 肉燥飯 (TWD 30) was good, but it was clear some very fatty cuts of pork were used.

Traditional local cuisine. Hiding in the small alley seems to be unwilling to be found. The set meal, lard rice with half fried egg, is really good. Must poke a hole and let egg yolk flow onto the rice. This egg yolk could nicely balance the salty and the sweet. This balance make this rice awesome.

Before I entered the restaurant, I was thinking "it's just rice with an egg on top, nothing special." But somehow I just felt like I have to try it. When I left the restaurant, I was stopping myself to order 3 more bowls of these because it's just my first meal of my day-trip to Tainan and I needed to try something else. When I left Taiwan, I concluded that this is the best food I've had in the trip, even against all the goodies in night markets. I guess I don't have to spend words on describing the food itself, right? If you think it's too salty, you didn't follow the (simple) instructions. By the way, it's almost free.

I'm pretty new to pork oil rice, and it's surprisingly good, especially coming with the fried garlic and egg yolk, very smooth to eat. The side green vegetables, soup and chicken skewers are all above average as well. Self-served (take the food by oneself when your number is called). Cash only.

One of the restaurants in Tainan that is highly recommended by my friend from Taiwan. Went there but the queue was quite long, took us about 30mins to get a seat there. Ordering was pretty easy, but it still takes another 10-15mins for the food to arrive. The pork minced rice is good but the skewer is just normal. So you can skip the skewer and save your tummy for other food Overall the pork minced rice is good

Considering the time of waiting, not really worth it. But pork fat rice is unique.

Despite waiting a bit in a queue it was a nice experience and a tasty local favorite. Well worth the visit and I would go back!

It is located in an alley but pretty crowded. You should mix the pork rice well before eat because the sauce is in the bottom of the bowl. The taste is sweet. There is no english menu.

Bacon fat on rice with an egg yolk. Old school Tainan flavor but so so good. Very cheap at 35 NT. The shop is tucked away in an alley way, but very popular and busy with young kids and old. The fish ball soup is very good, and you can order green veg or chicken skewers. Definitely worth a try, a gem of a restaurant in Tainan.

A place design for tourists seaking the ancient Tainan feeling in imagination. Featuring vintage style environment and serving taiwan country style pork fat rice with egg yolk. Unfortunately it is not the typical Tainan city taste. Food are not very carefully made. Average plain in taste, rather high in price.

We’ll cook rice mixed with pork fat and raw egg yolk with a little bit soy sauce. Great combination. Fried fish cake also amazing.
