(Translated by Google) An old tribe full of old buildings in Tainan. In recent years, many cultural and creative shops and restaurants have been stationed, which has completely revitalized the old street, and has attracted many cultural and youth pilgrimages and has become a hot spot for IG check-in. When visiting this place during the day, the first thing you see is the low buildings on both sides of the old street, full of the feeling of time quenching. At night, all kinds of lanterns are lit on the whole street, and the dim lighting creates a cultural atmosphere and adds to the mystery of the old street, which attracts countless literary and youthful people to visit. Whether you are strolling through it, exploring the taste of the old street in detail, or taking photos and eating food, these are the must-do lists for visitors, especially from the alleys, and there are many cheap snacks in old shops for reference. Because it is adjacent to the installation art on Hai'an Road and is blessed with snacks on Guohua Street, several scenic spots can be enjoyed all the way. Nowadays, this place has become a must-see for tourists.

Nice place to see the old charm of Tainan. Full of historical value architecture. Many handicraft and artefact shops as well. Can even buy real old childhood toys and food of my times! Good place to spend your time

We took a taxi to the street and entered from the end/other side. There are lots of murals, decorative pieces and hand drawn lanterns hung up on houses and shop fronts, making Shennong Street really pretty:) I loved the shops selling postcards and craft items designed locally. It's opposite a massive fresh market and also close by other historic sites for a combined visit. Although there is a bus service, the intervals between arrivals were too long (20-27 minutes) so we decided on getting a taxi back to the train station.

It is a street/alley across the main street from Shui Sin Gong market. Quite a quaint walking street, more like an alley fill with 2 rows of very instagrammable shops selling creative, old school, antiques, etc stiff. There are cafes and some food shops peppered along the street too.

Full of charm and spirits! It’s not a very long street, you’ll walk through it in a few minutes, but it’s beautifully charming at night. The hand-painted lanterns will leave you gasping in awe. Walk into the cute stores and appreciate how much effort they put into every one of them. Great place to get vintage clothes or unique souvenirs. Walk all the way to the end of the alley to be surprised with an impressive temple.

Shennong Street is a quaint and tranquil (at least during my visit) alley, serving as the gateway to the significant river ports of the Tainan Five Channels from the Qing Dynasty. Lined with delightful shops and restaurants adorned with beautiful decorations and lanterns, it's a must-visit for photography enthusiasts. The peaceful atmosphere is complemented by its location in a lovely neighborhood adorned with temples. A serene and culturally rich spot that captures the essence of Tainan's history and charm. 🏮📸🌿✨

A small, historic alley filled with plenty of souvenir shops, kitch decorations, handmade clothes, and a brewery, not to mention the hanging lanterns. Well worth a visit on any trip to Hai-An road.

5 stars for the picturesque street itself, but 1 star for the self-indulged, photo-obsessed environment at night. I get that taking photos of oneself is a favorite pastime in Taiwan, but it's not fun to have people bumping into you and obstructing your ability to enter or exit the businesses here because they want to pose for the perfect photo in front of the entrance. Hint: if you want to do a personal photo shoot here, come very late at night (after 10 pm) on a weekday. You might even have the street all to yourself if you come during the off-season.

What a fun and interesting area. Interesting shops and food places along with Tao temples. Night time is best for visiting in my opinion. Mornings have very few places open.

A cute and authentic "old street" with a lot of potential for a chic area as the houses change to coffee shops, curio shops etc. Maybe at night looks beautiful if all the lanterns are switched on.

It is a nice street. Of course a place for tourists but anyways. Nice Lanterns and small shops, some even more traditional. I recommend going in the evening because of the Lanterns.

Awesome street that you must enjoy by night to let the lanterns guiding your path with their mystic light. A lot of lovely and interesting shops will increment your journey. Please go discover them. You will surely find something to your taste. And with a pinch of luck you will be enjoying some good street concerts while you're scrolling there.

Nice little street with a lot of lanterns and heritage buildings. It's like taking a step back in time looking at some of the buildings. The street is very short and will take just a few minutes to walk through. Would imagine it looking gorgeous at night with the lanterns lit up.

As other reviews have noted, it's just one small, super cute street. Not much going on. Worth visiting if you are already in Tainan.

Only at night, this place turns into a beautiful lantern-lit street reminiscent of Spirited Away with cute trinket stores, and an amazing Izakaya store at the end of the street.

One of the more noticeable part of traditional Tainan is 神農街 a place where you can view the city just as the way it was perhaps back in the 1930s or 20s. There was a time when Tainan was beautiful at its peak and was the richest city also the capital of Taiwan. Take a walk down the street. That’s probably the reason why you come to Tainan in the first place. Enjoy the walk. #Loft

  • 5/5 Steven J. 4 years ago on Google
One of the famous old street in Tainan. There are some shops that sells traditional souvenirs and cafes repurposed from old house. Usually there are a lot of people who take photos here so it's quite difficult to get a good personal shoot, but there is always a chance. On the other side of this street, there is a temple with beautiful, and intricate facade. That makes this old street really great!
