Taiwan's 'old street' originally a fabric market I believe, some beautiful old architecture here and an interesting mix of shops, cafés and the odd bar. There are a wide variety of places here, from traditional vendors to newer hipster places. It's an Instagram paradise for many. Although many places are overpriced tourist traps, there are some real gems. The traffic is nuts a dance between cars, bikes and pedestrians, it all works and nobody dies, which is quite a surprise 😊 A must visit if you are new to Taiwan and worth exploring more deeply to hunt out the better places if you have the time.

This place is fantastic. Tons of fabric stalls are on the second floor right next to each other. All kind of fabrics can be found. Good quality. Love the Japanese printed fabrics. Pure linen is available. Zippers, felts, sewing and quilting threads in different colors are also available at the same floor. Went there couple of times to by some cotton fabrics for my small projects. Price is reasonable. Go to the 4th floor of this building if you are in need of any kind of tailoring. This market is closed on Sunday. Restroom available.

Haberdashery, grocery stores and a variety of architectural styles are preserved on and around Dihua Street, representing the different phases of its history : traditional Fujian-style Qing Dynasty homes can be seen alongside Baroque revival and modernist styles favored by wealthy Japanese at the time of the Japanese colonial occupation.

Sep 2023: interesting indoor market. Most queues were for the Japanese sushi stalls.

It might be a little confusing when you first got here, It’s like a maze. But once you got used to it, it’s a treasure cave! I’ve been in and out of here for more than 10 years, but it still surprises me every time.

Incredible. A whole floor of an office building converted into an indoor fabric market with hundreds of stalls of fabric. There are other craft and fabric stores outside is the market, but this is where most of it is at. I went on a Saturday and it was busy but not completely packed

This place closes by 6pm. There'll still be afew fabric stores open but mostly would have packed up for the day. For those looking to buy alot of fabric from here, do come early! Prices aren't very cheap, but they do have alot of variety of printed fabrics such as japanese / floral prints. They're precut and rolled up and some stores have a buy 10 get 1 free offer.

If you want anything of textiles or sewing clothes by yourself, just come here to get them! And if you need custom-made clothes, you can also find a nice tailor on the 3rd floor. On the first floor outside, there is a kind of Taiwanese special ice sweet soup called ”杏仁露”. It's one of my favorite dessert and with special refreshing flavor. I highly recommend trying it!

This place is similar to a large food court with few other stores. We need to line-up to order in the famous food stands.

A thriving market selling lots of different goods. There's a Japanese restaurant inside that specialises in sashimi, and always has a queue outside. We got a table for 6 fairly quickly, as it's a place where people come to sit down, eat and then leave rather than dwell and hang out. Very efficient service, and deliciously fresh sashimi and nigiri.

A fun and lively market on the first floor with several stalls selling prepared foods including couple sushi/sashimi stalls with seats and table service. Both of them have AYCE seafood miso soup.

Went there to search for a famous 油饭 but unfortunately it was not open that day we visited. Quite a nice market with shops selling arts and crafts. Joined the hype to Q for the 大福 and surprisingly it tastes super good!

Went to the 2nd level to check out fabric and it was pretty cool. Loads of fabric to see, you could spend all day here. Food on the ground floor, but didn’t go there.

Lots of stalls selling fabric. Street food at ground floor seems popular (though we didnt eat here). Overheard a tour guide explaining there are people who buy the fabric on 2nd flr and go tailor their clothes at 3rd flr. Yongle market surrounded by old buildings built in traditional Taiwanese style. Worth a visit fir the sights, sounds and smells

An old school market with a popular and famous sashimi store. Be prepared to queue as it was really crowded when we visited on a Saturday. There are also stretch of shops outside the market.

A fun area to explore with lots of local crafts, traditional healthy and dried foods. Slow down and relax at one of the tea houses in this neighbourhood.

Had to check this market out to compare with Bihua. Big selection of fabric covering 2 floors if a large building. the 2nd floor has many fabric vendors and is somewhat divided into weight. With some product aimed at furnishings; cushions, curtains & seat covers and others at quilters and dress makers. A lot of product has been cut into 1 yard pieces, perhaps to make it look like a bargain. I found a stall with a really good selection of denim and bought a couple of 1 yard pieces to use making bags. Over all the pricing is high. Not many bargains. I found prices from over 200nt to as much as 800nt/yd. Much much higher than I found in Bihua.

Old design buildings and quite a few places to have coffee, snacks and shaved ice to rest/relax.

Favorite place in Taipei to get fabric! A fun maze to spend lots of time getting lost in. Lots of individual vendors selling wide variety of fabrics and notions on 2nd floor. Would recommend looking at multiple vendors before buying - sometimes prices may differ for the same yard of fabric.

You can get almost every type of fabric here. They have many options especially for quilters. It's literally a fabric market so don't expect to find shops selling knick knacks.

This is a nice area to explore. I came over to shop for material to make a cat bed. The nearby Dihua Street is famous for all the lunar New Year goods.

Really great place for custom tailoring and other fabric work. Tons of options for both tailors and fabrics. A little hard to find tailors, so be ready to ask around a lot with the various shops. Not a great tourist spot. Rather, if you need fabric cut into anything, you come here.

We visit this last January 2022 almost Chinese New Year and it is so lively unlike other months. Old street sells some taiwanese delicacies, medicines and fabrics. Daocheng Wharf is nearby also you can enjoy the peaceful riverside walk.

Clean, spacious local specialized produce and textile market. It also houses a few tiny cute coffee stalls. It's an ideal place to go if you need repairs on clothes or bags.

What an amazing experience! Here you will find multiple floors of fabric and haberdashery. The aisles are stacked shoulder high with colorful fabric for any purpose or design. The upper floors are where the seamers and seamstresses are ready to sew your garment or couch covers or bedding or linen at very affordable rates. One visit will not be enough to see it all.
