If you're concerned about social distancing, Sub 13 isn't the place for you. In general, things are different. Arrived on Fri at 7pm and all seemed safe with one way signs, track and trace plus hand santiser on entrance. Person on the door was communicating with staff at the back to confirm whether there was space for us in the back garden. We shared a corner sofa with 2 other socially distanced pairs. So all seemed fine. But things didn't stay fine for long 1. Service charge is now added to the bill. Which is understandable as it's now table service, but it doesn't state anywhere on the menu. £13 for 241 is now £14.63, so a 12.5% service charge 2. There was way more waiting staff than bar staff. 1st out of 2 rounds of drinks was super slow - for a moment, I thought they forgot our drinks. 2nd round was a lot quicker even though it was busier 3. The garden really started getting busier from about 8:30pm onwards. Large groups of about 8+ were moving between seating areas. One of which was moved to where we were sat by the Sub 13 staff. A person had to closely pass me in order to sit down. So we decided not to stay for another round and call it a night instead 4. Entry and exit was the same way - so the one way stickers was just for show. A lot of people loitering along the garden entrance/exit making it impossible to social distance. Waiting staff was narrowly overtaking us even though we were trying to leave. I asked her whether this was the exit and she said it was I visited Dark Horse a couple of weeks ago and their social distancing measures were so well thought out compared to Sub 13. So if the above experience isn't for you, pay the extra £2.5ish for Dark Horse. Better cocktails, better experience and safer procedures

Very badly run by the bouncer I was in town earlier with my friend around 1700 today I said do we need to book he said no it’s first come first serve..... This evening around 20:30 we’re waiting in the queue for an hour the queue isn’t moving but a group of six from slug and lettuce, he let them in and then people pulled up in a car around five of them, he let them in and then 10 mins later he told everyone it’s an hour wait so I asked why did you let those others in he said they were all ready there ( liar) then he said others have booked I said you told us you don’t have to book yep he didn’t know what to say very bad could have gone somewhere else if was honest poor!

Cocktails were great and staff were very friendly and attentive 5 star for that. Just a shame that it wasn't covid friendly at all if that doesn't bother you then it's a great place for a cocktail or two. For those of you that do, we had to ask for our table to be sanitised ourselves, absolutely no social distancing to be seen anywhere. Told by the door staff to just ignore the one way system. Outside lamp heaters that turn off every 3 minutes, you are expected and asked by the staff to turn these on yourself which is pretty frustrating and tedious when all they have to do is just keep them on permanently by one switch, large amount of people jumping up and coming to your table to turn this on themselves aswell. Couldn't imagine the staff sanitising the switch after us. It's a shame because before covid I probably would have given this a 5 star.

Good hotel with lots of amenities. The gym is my favorite part. They have a swimming pool on the roof, several restaurants, stores, banks and can even exchange money for you if needed. I enjoyed my time at the hotel and would recommend any else use the hotel as well

I stayed here three nights in two separate occasions. First time I checked in at 3 AM and, without being asked, was given a room on the 3rd floor (all smoking rooms). Immediately upon entering I said I needed a non smoking room. The head receptionist who helped with my luggage at first said the hotel was full and that I’d need to wait until the next day. When I persisted I was then asked to wait until he had checked in another couple who had just arrived from the airport. I asked why as I had arrived first and it would take two minutes to check if he had a non smoking room? To continue checking in those guests I was then told that the non smoking room needed cleaning (really at 3 AM?) and that I needed to wait 10-15 minutes. As soon as he had checked in the other two guests the night receptionist handed me the key to the non smoking room. Not cool. But other than that the service was good. The hotel lobby is not befitting of a five star, but rooms are spacious and comfortable. Good free WIFI; satellite TV includes English channels; clean; fast laundry service; good and clean spa facilities (though ladies’ sauna is not hot) though steam is). Separate male/female gym facilities. Small rooftop pool. The breakfast buffet is high quality and they provide some variety of the hot options daily. It’s a shame you can’t charge your phone while the bedside light is on. Strange design for a modern five star. Still, I would stay here again but double check to ensure I didn’t get a smoking room.

Simply amazing, I can't say enough great things, but I'm going to try! When you think of the Serena brand, you think premier and the Dushanbe Serena Hotel fits that perfectly. Our stay was phenomenal! The staff is very professional and so kind. We were comfortable and absolutely enjoyed our stay there. Thank you Dushanbe Serena Team! :) Let me break it down: Location/ hotel site: The hotel is walking distant from restaurants, entertainment, city center, markets, etc. The building is beautiful, modern, pretty to the eye, and has a geometric vibe. The view from the elevator is captivating, you can see the snow capped mountains. The site is clean and pristine. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and modern. The business area is easily accessible. They have great WIFI throughout the hotel. Conference room is large and has a pretty view. The staff brought us snacks and beverages during our meeting. In the lobby, there is a counter where you can buy pastries and snacks, they are fresh and yummy! There is also a gift shop/ small store, as well as a trendy restaurant-ish area, with the sweetest staff! Service/ staff: We had a late night arrival and even then we were warmly welcomed and greeted. The staff took care of us, got us situated, and asked if we needed anything at all. Breakfast was a delight, so many buffet and made to order options. Decadent pastries and juices! Food was fresh, looked delicious, and tasted even better! I'm still dreaming about the fluffy, veggie, and cheese omelet! Dinner options were great too, again fresh and delicious! The staff checked on us through out our stay. They went out of there way to make sure we were comfortable and attended to.

Excellent service with very friendly professional staff. Arrived from London with my wife and son on Thursday 6th August in the afternoon. We stayed for a few cocktails in the terrace including one remade. Great DJ playing some soulful, funky and disco infused house. Great atmosphere highly recommended

Serena might not be the biggest hotel of Dushanbe, but they surely have the best taste. Interesting interesting design and Surrounded by artworks this place also hosts exhibitions and concerts time to time. They are also having great food which is better than Hilton Dushanbe.

Excellent level of service and facilities to match. Huge thanks to the reception-concierge, spa, bar and restaurant for the care and support they provided to me for a 2 night pre and 4 night post Pamir stay.

I had a diet coke which cost around £2.50. when it was poured, it was out of one of those mini cans!! Absolute rip off! I had half a small glass of coke and couldn't believe how much this cost me! I try to support more local bars etc but when they're charging you this sort of money for a MINI can of diet coke, I would have been better off going to Slug and Lettuce next door. Won't be going here again and would tell others to avoid if they don't want to be robbed

Great garden great atmosphere. Very very over priced so don't tend to use it much anymore. Equivelant liquid to a pint is just under £10 for a pint. Slightly makes you think they don't have the customer in mind and just their back pocket. Other than that everything is great from the service to atmosphere. The reason for 3 stars is purely because of the extremely high prices.

SUB 13, a small, classy bar with nice artist deco with an exclusive atmosphere and Londony sort of feel, I felt right at home. For its small size it really packs a punch with its organic themed decor using a mix of fresh and faux florals. I do love a good bar that really pays attention to interior, design and how it makes its guests feel. There are 3 floors with a DJ at weekends for the Bath party scene. Bar staff were great, I think its really something when a bartended asks if you want a recommendation, I went for the safe pre dinner Bellini at 2-4-1!

Well located in the center part of Dushanbe. The staff was welcoming and charmful. In- room service was fast and helpful. The amenities do need some refurbishment. The water supply to the top floor was poor.

Very welcoming place. Staff are super and the breakfast is excellent. Suzani bar is a nice place to have a drink in the evening. I like the poem they bring you each day. Very sweet.

I mean, where do I start! Five pound entry for what I can only describe as a wetherspoons for the over 30s! Limited space, poor cocktails, for what is supposed to be described as a 'classy' bar! Best thing I can say by far is for the lovely bar bartender who served us at the beginning of the night! The staff deffo make all the difference - give them a raise!!

Serena Hotel. Located in the city center, not far from the international airport of Dushanbe. You can walk to Ismoili Somoni Square in 15 minutes on foot, there is a very beautiful and pleasant atmosphere around. The rooms offer excellent views of the mountains and the city of Dushanbe. The rooms are very comfortable, everything is clean and comfortable. Upon entering the hotel, you already feel that famous oriental hospitality. The staff is very helpful, and the restaurant prepares delicious European and Oriental dishes. Recomend for everybody!

Well located. Rooms are spacious and nice. Restaurant food was ok. I think the service levels could be improved for a 5 star hotel. For example having to ask for things repeatedly in the restaurant. Or when checking out, asking them to arrange a taxi to the airport seemed to perplex them.

Attended a cocktail making clas here as part of a hen do in Bath. Really loved having our own room for the class and our bartender was great, sharing fun facts as he went. However, the class did feel rushed, our bartender demonstrated how to make four different styles of cocktail which were divvy'd up between us, lots werent even half way through before the next one appeared. We all then had the opportunity to choose a cocktail from a menu that we'd like to make. All of this was done in under an hour, with a prompt that when the hour was up we'd need to move on because another class was due to start. Overall, lovely room and great bartender taking the class but felt rushed and needed to be an hour and a half session really.

I've always had a great experience at Sub 13, whether during the evening or for the long haul (the night). Tim, the manager, is always pleasant, welcoming and extremely polite. The cocktail mixologists (bartenders) are knowledgeable and very chatty which really improves the experience. They also don't make you feel stupid if you don't know your drinks - they'll recommend something based on what you tell them you like. Overall I've had many a good night there, and have hosted a few meetings with friends in the huge garden. A great place in Bath!

We had an amazing cocktail making masterclass on Friday night for my friends hen party! The staff were amazing and the venue is ace! We had a really wonderful evening and enjoying our experience. We learned how to make lots of different types of cocktails and we got to try them all too.

We booked the 'front bar' for a farewell party for a staff member of Bath Preservation Trust. The space was perfect (we were 20 people), didn't cost anything to reserve, and the lady on the bar very helpful. Only 'criticism' is that there was only her on at the time we were there (5-7pm) and she had to be based in the bigger back bar, so we had to keep going through to order drinks. A dedicated - or at least 'more available' - barman would have meant a six star review!

  • 2/5 Nadia C. 3 years ago on Google
Very nice garden with heaters :) However we had to ask for pizza 4 times before our order was able to go through and it took them a bit less than an hour to serve a pizza that was also really not that great. As they charge for service charge on everything in advance I felt I had to pay it. I would not have paid it if I had known the service wouldn't be that great.

I've been to this bar a few times and it has always been a fantastic night out. It's lively, beautiful and the servers were super sweet and fun. I have been served by Guy the french man who has become my best friend on a night out there and Lowri who I just want to put in my pocket and carry everywhere. They really make the place what it is and it's a great bar.

I came here for a cocktail making class for my friend’s hen do. The experience exceeded any expectations I had. When we arrived we got told to go to a small private bar area where we were given a welcome drink each. The bartender then showed us how to make a few cocktails and he gave us the cocktails he made. We were then each given a choice of cocktail to make. We were able to try the different techniques. Definitely a fun way to spend an evening!!!

Decent cocktails, a little limited when it gets really busy as service takes a long time (as they pretty much only do cocktails). Terrifying lurch down to the toilets in the basement, it's only so long before someone stumbles and falls!

  • 5/5 James B. 4 years ago on Google
Had so many fun nights at Sub13. Really great place to go to spend some nice time with your friends. There is a regular live DJ, and all the cocktails are made to order. The prices are very reasonable for Bath. The atmosphere is very unique and there isn't another bar like it in the city. Huge back garden, great for the spring and summer times. Yep there are patio heaters.

A real gem in the centre of Bath! The most amazing staff, awesome atmosphere and without doubt, the best cocktails this side of the country. I always recommend Sub13 as a must when visiting Bath. It's a rare find and 100% worth it.
