I
stopped
by
to
do
some
powerlifting
for
just
one
day,
and
for
this
purpose,
it
was
fine.
I
went
on
Jan
3,
2020,
and
it
was
2750
yen
for
a
single
drop-in
(5
hours).
From
looking
online,
it
seemed
like
other
chains
might
not
have
a
single
drop-in
option
for
a
foreigner
who
doesn't
speak
Japanese,
especially
if
I
wanted
to
make
sure
there
was
powerlifting
equipment,
so
I'm
grateful
to
Gold's
Gym
in
that
respect.
(To
find
the
drop-in
option
for
a
Japanese
Gold's
online,
first
look
up
the
one
you
want
in
the
store
locator.
Each
location
has
its
own
page
with
prices
and
info.
Google
Translate
was
able
to
handle
it
for
me.)
While
Gold's
Gym
did
have
all
the
equipment
I
needed
(squat
rack,
bench
press
bench,
barbells,
pull-up
bars),
it
was
very
crowded
at
4pm
on
a
Friday.
Maybe
just
because
a
lot
of
people
are
still
on
holiday?
But
the
equipment
was
uncomfortably
close
together
too.
Sometimes
I
had
to
wait
for
people
to
finish
their
set
of
something
nearby
so
that
when
I
did
my
set
I
wouldn't
bump
into
them.
I
didn't
have
to
wait
long
for
any
equipment
though,
perhaps
I
was
lucky
or
perhaps
most
members
are
more
into
bodybuilding
than
powerlifting.
It
seems
you
basically
can't
come
if
you
have
a
tattoo.
Also,
"outdoor"
shoes
are
not
allowed.
If
you
don't
bring
indoor
shoes
to
change
into,
you
have
to
rent
shoes
for
about
350
yen.
The
rental
shoes
are
more
for
running
than
for
lifting
since
they
have
cushioned
soles.
The
real
dealbreaker
for
long-term
use
is
that
it
seems
that
full
deadlifting
is
banned.
There
are
signs
that
say
not
to
drop
weights.
In
some
gyms,
this
just
means
don't
drop
it
from
high,
but
putting
a
deadlift
down
in
a
controlled
way
is
okay.
That
doesn't
seem
to
be
the
case
here
though.
There
was
no
dedicated
deadlifting
area,
and
I
only
saw
people
doing
deadlifts
in
the
squat
racks
off
of
low-set
safety
bars.
If
I
was
staying
in
Osaka
longer,
I
would
probably
try
to
look
into
CrossFit
Minami.
The
prices
on
their
website
don't
seem
to
be
much
higher
than
Gold's,
especially
if
you
have
to
rent
shoes.
I
really
appreciate
that
Gold's
is
accessible
to
a
non-Japanese-speaking
traveler
and
has
the
equipment
I
need,
but
the
crowds
and
lack
of
deadlifting
make
a
CrossFit
gym
seem
like
a
better
option
to
me
if
I
were
living
here
for
longer
and
could
locate
my
home/hotel
closer
to
CrossFit
Minami.
If
you're
only
here
briefly
and
staying
at
a
hotel
near
the
train
stations,
Gold's
gets
the
job
done!
