Had to wait ~15 min to enter at 10am on a Friday. The beef curry rice was ok. The pancake was nothing special, borderline disappointing. The cafe au lait was decent though. The star of the show was the french toast. It has this melt in your mouth sensation which was quite unique. Felt like eating egg more than toast, in a good way. Singlehandedly brought the score up to 5 stars

We came here early in the morning, and it was the perfect way to start our day. The cafe decor was very cozy, reminiscent of a 1940’s jazz bar. We ordered the pancakes and egg toast. The pancakes were delicious, but felt just a tad too ordinary, falling short of being spectacular. The black coffee was a standout for me: a very strong and dark roast that leaves a chocolatey aftertaste.

One of the oldest kissa store in Osaka, opened earlier in the morning and closed at 11pm. Nostalgia feeling and vibes that I really love! I came around 10:45 , sat in right away. Choose morning set. Coffee was just alright. Salad was pretty good tho! The dressing was corn soup flavor! Sandwiches were great as well. I also Togo a pudding ( they sold it in the supermarket but cheaper in their store). Pudding was great as well. Service was alright, some staff saw you are a foreigner so not really politely; however, I still keep my polite manner to everyone, that’s how you treat people. Love the decor and vibes here, definitely will come back again for pancakes!

So-so experience here. We were first to arrive in the back section of the cafe and ordered, but the surrounding groups who arrived after and ordered after us were all served their food and coffee long before us. We waited about 30 minutes total for our coffee and dessert and then finally complained. The food then came out soon after but at this point we had been waiting 35 minutes total for coffee and a plate of arranged sweets. The best seats in the cafe are towards the front with all the vintage decorations, however the back is a bit dark and dingy and lacking in the vintage aesthetic the cafe gives off. Also no cake on the menu, but it’s in the display? It’s really confusing. The deserts offered are like sweet breads, pudding, parfait and hot cakes. The coffee served here is really bitter which I liked but the staff were somewhat unresponsive, and weren’t attentive to the order of customers, also were slow to fill empty water cups. In the end, the staff apologized for the wait and seemed to actually mean it so that was nice but I don’t think I’ll return. During busy hours there’s a LONG line outside and if the service is slow just waiting at the table I can’t image what it would have been like waiting outside in the cold for an hour and then waiting more.

This is part of a coffee house chain. You will find all the nice things to be expected of the Japanese "kissaten" experience: beautiful, European influenced decoration; a selection of hot and cold coffees, including a house blend; delicious sweets to go with your drink order. We also spotted some limited edition goods and bags of whole bean coffee for sale. Highly recommended for a break during your day.

Nice decoration, older ladies were rough with the customers, obviously yes we are tourists but we've been to other places and served better (water glass taken from your hand while you're drinking because they want to give you a fresh one? Wth?) tea/coffee cups are cute although there is only one type of coffee and tea...from a cafe that's disappointing. Deserts were good but not great.

Ice cream coffee at marafuku is so great coffee with a vintage ddesign and decoration of japan and a little bit of western (i think so). Anyway its great to be here, just take time for me time, so relaxing also with instrumental music from the restaurant. And they also have an english menu, so dont worry if you cant speak japanese. Lets have a coffee. #mattheusr

Nice Japanese style coffee shop with breakfast set (pancakes). Came by for coffee, while waiting for next accommodation to be available. They sell coffee beans too. Bought a bag to try. Staff is friendly. Has toilet inside shop. Came back next day for pancake and coffee for breakfast.

This is my favorite coffee shop. Pancakes and mini sandwiches are the best. It is sumikkogurashi themed though the place has a vintage interior design.

A very nice place to take a coffee break. The coffee is delicious, and the coffee shop design is with a very old style (Showa area, maybe?). We had a very comfortable seat and enjoyed our afternoon here. I saw some people talking business here, some reading, and some just sit and relax (like us). It was busy at the time we arrived and maybe language barrier made the orders slower than I thought. But other than that, everything was very nice.

The decor is beautiful, and the location is really convenient. The tea was fine, and I was glad to have a lemon option, but the pancakes came out unfortunately dry.

Travel back to Showa era at this old fashioned cafe in Osaka. Nostalgic atmosphere, old fashioned pancakes and soft buttery toast served in pretty China ware. If you like dark roast coffee, this cafe is worth a visit for the experience.

Delicious cake and coffee in an atmosphere that maintains the charm of a bygone decade. The chocolate orange seasonal cake had subtle hazelnut and chocolate flavours with a delightful orange hit. I'm not usually a fan of drip coffee, but the coffee here had a strong flavour that appealed to me.

This is a classic stop in Osaka by now. Come here for the art-deco and the strong coffee.

i am a bit disappointed about the pancake, which is quite ordinary and not as soft as it claims to be.(The size is big though, it would be better for 2 persons to share a plate) The hot chocolate is more of a dark chocolate taste. nothing particularly stand out from what i ordered. the atmosphere of the shop is nice and location good for a coffee break.

The best of traditional Japanese drip coffee with their own freshly roasted beans. Marufuku's dark roasted beans challenges light-medium roasted speciality coffee!

Went here for breakfast last week while on holiday. Portions were generous. Pancakes had an interesting texture and were light on taste. Finger sandwiches came in either ham or potato salad, both of which were not bad. The drinks and the Curry toast was the main highlight in my opinion, very aromatic.

1Sep23 breakfast This was the third time visit for breakfast. Only the coffee is too bitter for us. The restaurant taste so old, will cone again next time to feel the old. I like their pancake

The coffee is pretty strong and nice. But breakfast food is pretty normal. The ambience is pretty neat thou. The old cafe and the deco inside is nice

Classical style coffee shop open from morning til night. The atmosphere was calm and beautiful. We ordered cream soda float and cola float. If you ordered drink then you can order mini pudding for 300 yen. The pudding is a must! Soooooo silky and not too sweet. Totally recommend this shop!

Great atmosphere and vibe of Showa Era, a thou the place were originally established in the 40s but things are kept well cleaned, pancake are crispy outside unlike ordinary ones that soft and spongy. Coffee are super heavy roasted, but not bitter at all.

We ordered pancakes and cheese toast. The pancakes are really good. Rich with egg flavor. Recommend.

Love the atmosphere of the place. It feels like a travel back in time. Coffee was excellent although a bit on the smaller side. Biggest issue is the food. Arguably even Japanese Denny’s have better pancakes. The cakes though presented beautifully were a bit dry throughout. The honey may have been the one saving grace. The egg sandwich was also a bit bland.

We've been here a few times and prefer the front area seating. It's more spacious round the back but less of an atmosphere. There's a bit of history to this place and before I'd given it a 4 but the last time round, the pancakes (hotto keki) were a bit dry though and the toilet has as really funky smell which was off putting.

Nice place for coffee and Japanese toast. Bread really soft and yummy! One of the best egg mayo sando I’ve had. Pancake was alright , should order if you are in a group Coffee is really strong Ambience is nice like an old English Japanese cafe

A very cute cafe in Namba. Quite a line for breakfast on Saturday morning but it moves taking along around half hour. Inside, the set up is beautiful old style Japanese, featuring the pancake and coffee for breakfast. Saw popular also included fruit yoghurt. Pancakes are a perfect beautiful circle, with outside crispy inside soft and hot, quite uniquely delicious. Also enjoyed ham and egg toast which was quite good. My only complain is the service and food are a bit slow, it took at least half an hour for anything to arrive, including the coffee. The food immediately came after I complained. The host was very polite and immediately helped us to follow up. Mostly I enjoy the vibe and had a relaxing time.

Yesterday we waited about 65 min. for our coffee and morning sandwich set; the sandwiches came first although this is a coffee shop. We were told service will be a bit slow before we went in with a 40 min. wait, which turned out to be over an hour for us. We were also waiting outside in line for about 10 to 15 min. We ended up packing our sandwiches out, because we were to meet a friend and it would take some travel time. I've been here just about 30 years ago when I lived in Japan and the shop has become more of a tourist destination now. When I first went there around 1993/94 the shop allowed smoking (which I don't miss) and provided hot towels instead of wet wipes; social changes and a cost saving/convenience measure these days I suppose. There were also no sodas as it was really a coffee shop. In years past, the coffee actually came out pretty quickly unlike today where it came out last. Overall a quaint coffee shop trying to keep the feel/sense of what was, while trying to adapt to today's expectations and desires taking advantage of more recent interest. I wouldn't return unless I can see they are not too busy as it seems they were short on staff and seem to be profitable enough so as not to worry about losing a customer here and there. There are many coffee shops in/around Osaka and I will look for these gems as it will also be a chance to explore.

Paid ¥2,770 for 2 persons breakfast. The cheese toast was thick, crispy at the sides and soft inside. The pancakes were fluffy. Service was friendly and efficient.

Legendary coffee shop, thick black coffee. Perfect for an afternoon coffee with some light dessert. It is said that this Marufuku shop is the oldest one. Atmosphere was that like of Japanese industrial era cafe. Very nice service, went there two times, and the waitress recognized us on the second visit already. Coffee and apple pie recommended.

A delightful time capsule of a resturant, wonderful atmosphere. The staff are friendly, attentive and just pleasant to be around. The coffee was fascinating, a dark roast focused spot but I honestly can't believe that a dark roast can be this enjoyable. All in all, a memorable, welcoming and lovely little spot. And top marks for the cutest little fork

Ambient is, frankly, unbeatable, full of the antique Showa atmosphere. Right alongside the noisy 日本橋 station, you can find a flash of peacefulness when sitting on the sofa of this coffee shop, sipping a mouthful of milk coffee looking around at the people outside walking alongside the busy street. To enjoy a moment of relief and relaxation. The beef curry is delicious, so is the thick pancake. Must try signature dishes here. If you are a coffee lover, you might be disappointed as their dark coffee, in my opinion, is a bit over roasted. However, it is perfect if drinking with a bit of milk and a cube sugar added.

👍👍 Go to the basement floor which has all kinds of food stalls and specialty stores. Go there an hour before closing and most of the packaged food items will be discounted like 30% or Y300 off. It’s great deal for budget travel. They also have very good yogurt drinks and other bakery items.

👍👍 Amazing patisserie! The pastries on sale were both eye candy and delicious. Queuing to eat at the cafe on the second floor takes patience as the queue is long. Go to the front of the queue to get a number from the ticket machine and wait…. But it is well worth it 👍
