This place is breathtaking. It is absolutely worth it to take a trip up to this viewpoint. Was one of the highlights of my trip, must-do if in the area. I visited while I was in Takayama, and it is a very easy bus ride there and back.

Called the Japanese alps, these mountains are a great side trip. The scenery up to the gondola is great! It's a beautiful National Park. At the base of the gondola, there is a hot springs that you can soak your feet in. Fun stop.

Observatory has an amazing scenery with the view to the mountain tops where you can appreciate the snow caps and the tree lines.

This place is a must visit from Takayama if you want to see snow. There is a bus tour available at Takayama Bus centre in 6800Yen per person, tour includes both return bus fare and shinnhotaka Ropeway tickets. There is a cafe, restaurant and souvenir shop at the observatory.

Great place to experience snow, especially if you like hiking in the freezing conditions The place is not too cold, but the wind very strong. Please use the wind resistant jacket and water resistant shoes. A lot of drink & cheap gatcha hehe

The snow Mountain View is amazing. It very lucky I got the clear sky. So I can see the mountains and mountains. If you take the rope way, you have to go to the top.

1月 2022年 Shinhotaka ropeway has no.1 and no.2 aerial tramway. No.1 starts from Shinhotaka onsen station to Nabedaira kogen station. Then a few minute walk from Nabedaira kogen station is no.2 tramway ascending from Shirakabadaira station to Nishihotakaguchi station. The trip took 20-30 minutes (one-way) and a roundtrip ticket costs 3,300yen for adult. Nishihitakaguchi station is a 4 level building. 1st and 2nd floor are the stations, 3rd floor is cafeteria and shops, and 4th floor is the observatory deck where you can enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of Hida mountains. You can have your photo taken by the staff at 1,500- 2,000 yen (soft and hard copy) Shirakabadaira station has a cafeteria, and a nearby outdoor onsen and free foot spa. Great stopover before ending your ropeway trip.

The ride up is smooth enough in a double-decker gondola. Either the top or the bottom is good for the view. At the top station there's a restaurant, gift shop, and a room with some art done by school students. On the very top of the station there is a platform where you can look out in about 270 degrees. The view to the east is obstructed by the building. Since this is not really the top the view is also limited out to one of the sides by the mountain. You can't see out to the ocean but you can look down the valley. It's a long way to come for what you get to see.
