Cafetería estilo retro llevada por dos mujeres mayores con un muy buen servicio (a pesar de no saber mucho inglés se esforzaban por enseñarnos cómo teníamos que mezclar los platos del desayuno japonés). I loved this place. Very authentic, nothing glamorous but the staff is very friendly, they have a menu in English. They serve traditional Japanese breakfast which is vegetarian and is very tasty. It's inexpensive and portions are generous.

Amazing quaint little coffee place that has amazing toasts and really comforting coffee! Shopkeeper barely speaks English, but has an English menu that does the job. If you come in the afternoon, the shop will have a bunch of regulars (ladies) who will fill the shop with conversation and laughter, definitely a surprisingly pleasant experience for us.

It’s a very quaint little coffee shop that opens considerably early by 7am in Takayama (most shops will open only starting 9am the earliest). The shop is run by an obaa-san (granny) alone, so there’s definitely a limit to how many people the store can accomodate. English menu is available & accurate so no issues for ordering as tourists. Orders took only 15 mins max since obaa-san moves briskly & efficiently. The black coffee is standard, but if you can handle dairy milk the cafe au lait tastes better. The rice ball table d’hote is probably the best set to order. Onigiri was warm and delicious with generous pickled plum & seaweed filling. The miso soup is warming. Price is cheap especially if you consider you’re essentially contributing to obaa-san’s pension.
