Roomsize (Standard Room) is ok but of course small for Europeans - especially the double bed (which nevertheless was very comfortable). There is Avery nice Spa/Onsen and a nice view in the Top Floor which is included in the price. The breakfast is quite limited (for Asian standard) and could be very crowded (medium value for 1400Yen + Tax). The hotel has no laundry service but there is a self service laundry service nearby. Hotel is not far from the station and not far from the main attractions as well.

The hotel room seems to be refurbished rather than brand new. The location is very convenient. It only takes 3 minutes to walk from Takayama Station. In the past, Takayama Ancient Street was only a 4 minute walk .There are relatively few breakfast options. There is a natural hot spring on the 9th floor. You need to bring towels from the room when you going up, the hot spring area is also very small. When checking in, because we were arranged to stay on the 3rd floor, I asked to stay on a higher floor. A female colleague who is fluent in English said that you paid to stay on a higher floor? Her attitude is a little bit not good. Does this hotel really charge extra for staying on a high floor?

The hotel is in a great location, close to the train station and the old town. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the rooftop hot spa is a good bonus. The staff are super friendly, greeting us every time we entered or departed the hotel.

Nice modern Onsen hotel which is a short walk from the train station. Well located and conveniently accessible to many places of interests and F&B. Concierge staffs is knowledgeable and provide good advice on where to eat and sight seeing. Onsen bath is good and roof top outdoor Onsen is private and provide a good view around the building. Only set back is the room is too small. If the rooms are bigger it would be great.

Clean and new hotel with excellent services. The onsen on the top floor is wonderful. However the bed is very hard and breakfast is Japanese style with not many options.

Great location it’s within walking distance of the main areas in Takayama. Room is small but not too small. The onsen on the 9th floor is worth a visit if you are OK with the etiquette. Overall decent hotel for a reasonable price. Nothing fancy.

very nice. close to the central area of Takayama, you can easily visit many traditional and holly spots within walking distance. at the top of the hotel, there is a hot spring from the ground level, sky view of Takayama. Breakfast is served not only in Japanese style but also in western one.Enjoy traditional Gifu foods!

Takayama may not be large area, but location really does matter in a small town with limited public transport. This hotel is a short distance from the train station and bus station. So, can easily drag the luggage there. The hotel is also short distance from the tourist area. I quite like the root top Spa. The pools are sufficiently large. And the open air ones provided good views of the surrounding. The only thing is that the breakfast area is a bit packed. But the variety in the breakfast is good.

I stayed in this hotel for one night during my trip as an English solo traveler to Japan. The hotel is very close to the train station, which is great and is very clean. The staff were friendly. I stayed in a standard room, which was quite small (to be expected for one person) but it was clean and had everything I needed for a lovely night sleep. The best thing about the hotel were the baths at the top floor. I was a bit nervous about using it naked as a foreigner but no one cared. I followed all of the rules and enjoyed the hot baths in the inside and the two hot baths outside. These were really refreshing. The hot bath showers also have great toiletaries (shampoo, conditioner, face cream and toner etc), and hairdryers, which were better than the ones in the room. It was very clean and peaceful. In fact, I used the hot baths in the morning too (it closes at 9am and reopens again at 3pm, so you have to get in early.) There's a relaxation area you can use after the baths, with lovely views of the town and mountains. I had a vending machine orange juice and enjoyed it looking at the views. The breakfast was good - I liked the rice porridge the best. I recommend this hotel for people traveling through Takayama.

this hotel is very much a budget option, whilst clean, the rooms are outdated and the bathroom reminded me of an airplane. the mattress was firm but they only provided me with one pillow for the double bed which i found strange. thé breakfast was like being taken back to boarding school, with canteen style crockery and seating. the food options were alright but not very tasty, i personally would’ve preferred to go out in town. the staff were friendly and i appreciate the continued use of covid protection features such as masks, screens and temperature checks at check in. all in all, alpina hotel is a great stay for a family on a budget but i wouldn’t stay here again personally as i would prefer something more modern and “upscale”

Excellent location near most sight seeing places. Clean and tidy room and public bath area. Staff are friendly and well spoken English. I like the pillow choice idea very much! I wish to re visit this hotel again.

An inexpensive hotel in Takayama, yes the room was small but then we knew that, it served our purpose as we were sightseeing just about all day every day we were here, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and tidy, the onsen was clean and tidy and frequently used and the dining room had a wide variety of delicious food for breakfast, the ladies were very charming and helpful too, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again as an alternative to a more expensive hotel, no complaints here just prise for the friendly staff.
