In a word, this is a discriminatory hotel. I found all the foreigners are arranged in 12 floor which is near the SPA and it is really noisy at night. I lived here for 2 nights but I did’t get a good sleep at all. But the Japanese tourists are arranged in the quiet floor. REALLY BAD HOTEL.

5 stars for the breakfast selection of local food, the complimentary coffee and ramen. the private onsen is a big plus! 4 stars for cleanliness and location. i love the no-shoe policy. 3 stars for the small room and inconvenient layout. 1 or 0 star for the slow and spotty wifi connection.

It's a five minute walk from the station. It's a japanese styled place so no shoes anywhere in the hotel. Check in is at 3 so if you arrive early, you can leave your baggage in the lobby and go sightseeing. The rooms and onsen are great!

This is a Japanese style hotel so expect you will not wear shoes anywhere in the hotel, but the hotel hall are all tatami so it should be no problem. The place have good onsen facilities with 2 public bath and 3 private bath, for the private bath noted that the 1st one on the left is quite small, if you want more space for 2 - 3 people, the next 2 is much larger. You can also have free ice-cream at the onsen (helpful to raise blood pressure after hot bath). Overall a good place to stay

Its a very nice hotel here. They have 3 types of private onsen which are small, medium and large. And we have to queue for it. They have free ramen also.

The 13th floor open-air bath has great views, both night and day. The hotel overall is great value for the price. The tatami floors everywhere give it a nice flair.

Cozy hotel, near station and delicious local restos. Traditional Japanese customs observed. Ryokan area is relaxing. Great amenities. Can stay here for a week!

Ten years before, I had a good experience in this hotel and therefore I book this hotel this time. However, the service deteriorated a lot and the rooms became too old and had poor maintenance. Also, some staff are not good at English, and not trying to help. However, the rooftop free hot spring is still a good place to go and chill.

This hotel was an absolute gem! The onsen experience was nothing short of fantastic, with incredibly private baths that were all amazing. It was conveniently located near the station and the charming old town, making it easy to explore. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The rooms were lovely and cozy, exuding authenticity. It was a nice touch that the rooms came with kimonos and quaint bathrooms. The town itself was delightful and a breeze to access from the hotel. This was an authentic experience, from leaving shoes at the door to sleeping on traditional tatami beds. It's odd that some people would complain about such a wonderful aspect of the stay!

Excellent location, beautiful rooms + space. Super clean and quiet. A nice retreat away from the busier Japanese cities. Loved the private onsens and the public one was very well managed and maintained. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Also bonus points for allowing foreigners with tattoos into onsen. Would definitely visit and stay again

I had a fantastic stay. Free breakfast buffet and free Ramen At night! Super clean hotel, very kind and welcoming staff. Amazing onsens!!! There is no reservation so make sure to get there at a reasonable time to not wait too long. Shoes are to be locked in the lobby area. The elevator smells great hahaha

Best thing about this hotel is its convenient location and attractive rooftop onsen (nice views!). Rooms were designed in a traditional Ryokan style and felt rustic. Service was efficient but just lacking a little human touch. Overall, a good hotel.

The location is good because it is close to the train station (which however is also a small disadvantage because you can hear the trains a little bit in case your room faces the tracks). The hotel rooms are ok, but really small and getting old. I guess there are also larger rooms, but our rooms were reserved by the company we will visit. At least we got a very good rate (less than 10'000). So for the low price we got, the rooms are ok. The private onsen on the 13th floor are ok. Not big, but nice for a try. I have not yet tried the public one. Hopefully I have time to do this tomorrow. Overall an ok hotel in the Japanese style, but you should not pay more than about 12'000 per night, otherwise it is too expensive for what you get.

This is an average hotel, free hot springs bath is a plus. The staff has limited knowledge of their TOWN, I wonder they are just temporary.

Nice hotel a short walk from the train station. The rooms are decently sized. The whole hotel had tatami mats so no outside shoes permitted. They have both public and private baths on the 13th floor. Had only a short wait to get the private bath. It was quite busy when we were there seems like they receive a lot of tour groups. Overall would recommend it.

Our second time at this hotel...very happy with everything. The rooms were clean and well appointed...due to extending our stay, we had to change rooms half way through our stay. This went without hassle.. There was one particular staff member who was outstanding...I didn't get his name, but he was Indian I believe, nothing was too much trouble for him...he even tried to contact a car rental company that we had messed up our booking with. We would like to commend him on a great job.

We stayed two nights here. The value for your money is excellent. We had a huge room with a king sized futon. The breakfast buffet had a huge variety with both Japanese and Western options. The free Ramen at night looked great, but we didn’t have any because we were still full from dinner (typically we ate dinner at 7:00 and Ramen is at 9:30). Front desk staff spoke very good English, and the lady who checked us in called two restaurants for us and made reservations. This was our first time trying an onsen and we loved it. We never had to wait for a private onsen, there was always at least one available even though the hotel seemed to be 100% full. It was a great opportunity to get comfortable with how to use an Onsen in private. We also used the public Onsen the morning we left which was great. Onsen is very clean and has a fantastic view of the city! The onsen floor has free juice in the morning and popsicles in the evening. There was also a vending machine, washing machine and other amenities. The views from both our room on the 7th floor, and the Onsen on the 13th were great and overlooked the town. We were lucky to see the mountains off in the distance. We would definitely stay here again.

The perfect place for the perfect get away in Takayama. Check-in is easy, informal, and the reception staff is delightful. It is a Japanese "style" hotel, so no shoes allowed inside. The whole place is fitted with either synthetic or natural tatami. It feels comfortable under your feet. The rooms are appropriately serviced including kettle, tea facilities, shower amenities, and Yukata. They are small, and yet they do not feel cramped. There are a few complimentary services including baths with a view, icy poles, and ramen at 2100hrs. If possible, queue up to enjoy a private bath overlooking the mountains. Breakfast was delicious with a mix of local dishes, standard Japanese foods, and the usual continental offerings. Location wise, it could not be more perfect, only 5 minutes away from the JR station. Lots to do in Takayama. Enjoy!

I chose this hotel due to its ryokan style aesthetic and its location. A 5 mins walk to the station, you' ll also have no difficulty finding it. Breakfast has a lot of selection, from japanese to western style breakfast, may your preference be bread or rice or cereal, they have it. They also got free coffee at the lobby. You'll have to walk WITHOUT your shoes for the whole hotel... so be reminded to please wear socks. There is also a private onsen that you can use alone or as a couple. There is a 30 minute limit so just be mindful of the time. Service is usual for a japanese hotel.. and that is outmost courtesy and diligence.

Room was clean and the location was very close to bus station and JR station. Staffs were all kind. Bathroom was too small.

The outdoor and indoor onsen on the roof provided an exceptional experience with great views of the city of Takayama and the surrounding mountains. I recommend trying it during daylight hours as well to fully appreciate the beautiful views.

Great hotel not very far from the JR station. Walking distance from all the attractions around (anyway everything is 15 mins away). The rooms are very nicely japanese decorated. Great onsens at the top view great views. You leave your shoes at the lobby in a lockers and just walk barefooted in the hotel. Overall great experience and highly recommended. Price point is good too !

I stayed at this hotel multiple times. Staff are very friendly and it does have quite a traditional Japanese theme to it (Tatami and Onsen). It’s also quite close to the station which is handy for when it snow season.

6 mins walk to Takayama Station and Nohi Bus Terminal. Bus Terminal is important for those transiting to Shirakawago or other parts of Japan such as Osaka and Kanazawa. Experience the authentic ryokan stay and the private baths for couple. Great room view of the mountain alps capped with snow.

Nice atmosphere and interesting rules to take off your shoes during your stay in the hotel. Good private onsen with the city view ❤️

The best hotel I stayed on during my Japan trip. Loved the place, only 5 minutes walking from the station. Private onsen with included kimonos is a plus.

The hotel is designed as a traditional Japanese ryokan, tweaked to add in modern conveniences. Rooms are clean, comfortable, spacious, and offer good views. And staff are courteous and efficient. Note that it's a shoes-off property, to protect the tatami flooring, so guests with mobility issues may find it inconvenient to remove / put on shoes in the lobby - although there are lots of seating around to help with that. It's really near the train station - for those who prefer not to drag luggage around town, but a good 10- to 15-min walk from the old town area (the main street with restaurants and shops, museums, markets) My favourite part was the rooftop onsen - perfect for stargazing and to wind down after a long day of walking!

Family-friendly hotel where you spend your time mostly barefeet and dressed in traditional attire. Rooms are good, nothing to complain about. Staff is helpful and friendly with some of them being fluent in English. The lavish breakfast is highly recommended and well worth the price. There is also a complimentary supper which is highly welcomed after using the private roof-top onsen which comes at no extra charge. The location is superb, close to train and bus stations and just a little walk away from the heritage center.

Japanese style hotel with an occidental touch. Do not expect a ryokan experience: it's a big hotel which operates like that. You must remove your shoes at the entrance, there are tatami floors. Rooms are spacious but feel a bit outdated. Breakfast had a lot of Japanese and western options, but not specially good. The baths are great, I didn't use the private ones but the public had one in the inside, one outside, cold water and sauna. Very nice. The free unlimited ramen at night is plus. Worth it depending on the price you pay and the usage you make of the facilities.

Excellent location (just 3 min walk from JR Station), great onsen facilities and buffet breakfast! The Japanese styled room is clean and very well maintained. Heating is excellent in snowy weather. Staff is very thorough in attending to details. The free chicken noodle at night is also unexpectedly delicious! Everything perfect! Glad that we choose this hotel!

Good hotel in Takayama,.very traditional. Onsen is great.

Very good. The rooms are very clean. The staff are very nice and helpful. We tried the private Onsen, and it is very nice. There is a motion sensing light in one half of the room that cannot be turned off. This means that when you get up in the night to use the washroom, your partner will notice this light turning on. Also, like other hotels in Japan, they only give you one room key. This is a bit annoying. Overall, this hotel is a very strong offering, and the issues described are minor.

Higly recommended to those visitors who like mountain scenery and hot springs. You can see Mt. Hodaka, Norikura, and Yari from rooftop spa when it's clear weather.
