The ramen is definitely a mess, and it’s just like a instant noodle. The hamburger cost 1000 but it’s cold !!! I would give it 0 star if there’s an option.

Jas Hotel was a lifesaver for five foreigners who were rudely mistreated by another inn. We literally found this hospitable hotel 10 minutes after getting kicked out of our reservation from an inn simply because we came too close to the ending of checking in time- it was 11 pm we got there 10:45 pm. Finding the designated parking was a bit tricky, but we were exhausted from a long strip starting in Osaka, so it was to be expected. To the lovely staff lady (I forgot her name) who answered our banging on the main door at midnight, you are an angel 😇! She was very understanding and accommodating. We got our room keys within a matter of minutes. She was so kind to even show us directions to places we could in daylight. I just wanted to shower and pass out in bed, but to my delight, there was a little onsen where I could relax! The rooms were clean and small amenities were given in each room. I slept like a troll comfortably till daylight😁 Thanks Jas Hotel Ps. It is a lovely place and could use a bit more sprucing up and marketing. I will visit again

This is a hostel, not a hotel. Everything is terrible. The AC doesn’t work but the owner said machine is old and weak, she cannot do anything. Also, no AC in the public area such as bathroom and toilet. It is very cold inside room and public area. Parking lot is far away from hotel about 150 meters. 4 person room is very very small. Cleaning need to be better, room full of dust. Breakfast is very simple with bread, an egg, 1/8 slice apple, 5cm size sausage.

We loved this place. The auntie that runs it is very sweet and accommodating. If you are looking for western beds and insist on having eggs and toast for breakfast stay somewhere more western. The Japanese style tatami floor rooms was a delightful experience. Nice view of the city and the park right behind the hotel has castle ruins and shrines to explore. Love it, will come back!

Small clean and comfortable.. But the highlight is the breakfast.. The manager is so nice and she prepares an amazing meal of local sukiyaki and traditional Hida region foods. You will have a 1 minute walk up hill to get to the hotel. If you ar looking for good cooking in the morning, this is the place. We arrived at 9:30pm and were happy to find a good traditional Japanese restaurant that was open directly across the street. Not easy to find in Takayama. Things close early.

The location is the best part about this accommodation. It's within walking distance of many of the attractions around town. I was not very impressed with anything else, however. The rooms provided the bare minimum of comfort, and there are no private toilets/bathrooms. The shared bath is labeled an "onsen" but I don't think it's fair to call it that. If you are just looking for a cheap place to crash at the end of the day this hotel is fine. It is at the top of a steep hill (and some stairs) though, so I might not suggest it if that could be a problem for you.

This was a good stay considering the price point. The hotel itself is very clean and service was good. The highlight is the location which is right in the city center and an easy 15-20 minute walk from the train station. The hotel: We stayed upstairs and there's about 8 rooms and 3 shared bathrooms (1 for men, 1 for women, and 1 shared (squatty potty)). Bathroons were always kept clean. I believe there are 2 more bathrooms downstairs. Upstairs there are about 5 sinks and each have a blow drying station. The shower room is also shared with 2 showers 3 sitting shower stations, and a hot tub (onsen). Keep in mind you're in Japan so the showers are NOT private - think of a locker room environment. Luckily it wasn't so busy so the shared bathrooms/showers weren't an issue and were quite nice but I'd imagine if fully booked it may have felt a bit crowded and uncomfortable. The rooms: The rooms are pretty basic but they're clean. They provided tea (they only gave us enough for 1 night), towels, and bath robes, and slippers. There was also a kettle and a fridge. There's a TV with a few local channels. Wifi worked well! Our room had a window so that was nice. The beds unfortunately were not the most comfortable. It also gets pretty cold in this place but luckily our room had a heater that worked well. All in all it was a good stay.

Situated on top of a small hill overlooking the small town of takayama. With creaking wooden floors and flower filled gardens. Definitely not your usual hostel. Old but clean with a friendly old lady host.

🫤 Don't bother with this place, it is overrated. Parking outside and toilets inside. Seems very clean and the food was actually really good, but the service was slow and at exactly 3pm we were yelled at (and so we're other people), to get out as they were closing. We arrived at 2:15, took 10 minutes...
