The manager was cheating by collecting more money than what was on the booking. We tried to ask them to open cctv, but they denied and ignored us.

Worst hotel I've stayed at in many years. I walk in and pull open the sheets to hop into bed and there are two black hairs (I don't have black hair) and then the next morning when I shower there is black hair on the inside of the shower curtain. It's very clear they didn't clean my room. I requested late checkout by phone on my checkout day at 7:30 am because I wasn't feeling well and wanted to sleep. But to my surprise I was awoken by a phone call telling me I'm passed checkout time. I said let me call you back in a minute. He called a second time to awake me and he said no one called him or talked to him about the late checkout. Finally, he solved the problem and it was a matter of staff not communicating. Well, that's not my problem and you ruined my morning. Of course, he said he was sorry when I did check out and didn't charge me, but that combined with all the hair in the room, it's just too terrible.

Bad experience for my parents in law because they were cheated in paying more than what was on the booking. AVOID!

Onsen Bath seems to be under maintained. Floor is slippery with moss. There is no laundry machine nor ice machine in the hotel. You have to get ice from the front counter. Location is good, just opposite the station with a car rental company downstairs. No carpark in the hotel. However good part is the bed, its has a really fluffy blanket to sleep on.

Some of the descriptions were not updated. Like, they dont have outdoor slippers but it was mentioned to use when going to restaurants on 1st floor.

The good: reasonable price on booking, clean rooms (I saw some people had complained about the size but I saw no issues with that--hotel rooms in Japan are often pretty cozy, and this one struck me as average), great shower, wonderfully close to Takayama station. The not so good: the bed is incredibly firm, and for me very uncomfortable--I could feel the springs through the mattress cover. The rooms and bathrooms, though comfortable, could use an update. So, a solid three stars.

This is an affordable, comfortable but unremarkable hotel that's very well situated, being extremely close to the train station and short walk into town where you will find restaurants and the majority of attractions. It's clean, the staff were polite and friendly and it provides your basic needs. Most things in Takayama are very close walking distance from this hotel, with a couple of exceptions, such as the Hida Village, which I recall was about 25 minute walk, half of which was up an increasingly steep hill.

Budget hotel with various plans offered. Really easy access from station (right across the street), but the quality of the room itself is bit cheap. No free complementary breakfast but a standard breakfast meal set(not all you can eat) available for 1000 yen.
