Located in quiet area across bath house. Walking distance from station and morning market. They provide coffee, green tea, and basic kitchen amenities. Hot water to boil coffee, tap water is safe to drink. Shower room & tatami room on the first floor. Toilet, sink hairdryer on every floors. They have small Japanese garden on the first floor behind the luggage room, near tatami room. Lovely space! Dorm on the 2nd floors, I stayed at 8 beds room. It’s tiny but the bed area is big. Got natural light from glass windows on the roof. Password for every room. It’s quiet and clean. The guy name Tats, was very nice. He remembered all the guests names and make conversation with them—nice gestures to make the guests feel at home! Overall I had a good night sleep and would love to stay in this hostel again!

Extra lovely place where you can experience a night on a Tatami. The staff speaks excellent English and is welcoming and ready to help. Everything is perfectly cared and stylish. Shared bathroom and showers, but perfectly clean. You can rent a bike to cycle around the area.

The second time I have been back to this place. The guesthouse is well-decorated with cozy-modern atmosphere. The rooms are comfy and clean. The bathroom is shared but also super clean. The host is very nice, helpful, and fluent in English. Location is also somewhat city-center, it takes only 15-20 minutes walk to the Takayama old town and the restaurants area.

Hands down one of the best modern hostels you will stay at in Japan. Plenty of room (bunks are taller than five feet), clean and extremely friendly staff. Better yet - Cup of Tea is conveniently located right next to all the major Takayama sightseeing spots. The team will tell you whether to give certain spots a miss and also have plenty of recommendations in and around the region. I’ll be back when the festival is on.

Fabulous hostel. Bed area was similar to a capsule but larger and more comfortable with storage, a light, and power outlet. Everything was clean, bathrooms were in good shape. Use of shower along with towel included. Small common area for for meals and lounging, but included basic kitchen. Wonderful staff made this cozy hostel a great experience.

I stayed at this place for 2 nights and it was a great experience. The place is clean and the bed is comfortable. The owner is a very kind and friendly guy who will give you very nice recommendations over Takayama. The "living room" is a very cozy area to share experience with other travelers or even to share a cup of sake ! A traditional santo/onsen is located just in front of this place, which is nice after a long day of walk. Highly recommended, one of the best hostel experience i had in Japan

Specifically regarding the,"Guesthouse", It's a very good set up, for a hostel. We got the 6 person bunk bed room and it was nice. Stairs to the second floor are a bit narrow, so not so great if you have large suitcases. Dining / communal area very pleasant and has all the amenities you possibly need (fridge, microwave, electric stove etc.). Would strongly recommend for younger active short term travellers because it is possibly the cheapest lodging in Takayama. Note: no parking at the Guesthouse. Public parking available nearby.

The hostel is lovely, the bunks are spacious and private, and the staff were pleasant. It was close to major attractions and within walking distance to the station. I had a comfortable stay overall. I’d like to give a higher review, but I have mixed feelings because of the showers. They were uncharacteristically filthy. It was odd because the rest of the hostel was quite clean (aside some from black mold on the windows in my dorm room). There was also nowhere to put your stuff (not even any hooks on the wall), so you’d have to put your towel and belongings on the ground. I think its good value overall, but it wont be a luxurious stay by any means.

The place is a little bit too far from Takayama st. (10 min walk) but the host is super nice and friendly and his English is very good. We brought the big luggages with us and he helped us with the taxi. The place is the traditional Japanese style. We stayed in the 1F family room, the smell is slightly musty but it was neat and clean.

Our first hostel experience was a great one. Very spacious, very comfy. The showers and toilets were all private. Had luggage storage downstairs and under the beds. Includes a lock box, house shoes, you can borrow umbrellas. The owners speak good English and are very helpful with local attractions. We met so many lovely people here. I highly recommend!

A charming little hostel that offers extremely clean lodgings. Options include mixed dorm in pigeonhole capsules (with blinds) and traditional Japanese style rooms. Newly built, the hostel is fresh. Bedding is comfortable. Location central. Staff are very attentive and have great local knowledge. I found they were more knowledgeable than the actual Information Centre in town! Staff are well versed in English and are down to earth. This hostel felt like a home away from home which made my stay here feel authentically Japanese. Thank you for accommodating my stay here comfortably.

Very new , comfortable and cheap hostel just 5-10min from old town away. The staff is so friendly and helpful like in a 4* Hotel. They searched for us the perfect way for our trip to the national park and reserved also a nice hostel for us . Also they speak English fluently. I extended my stay also for 1 night there because of the great staff and of the nice hostel it self . Would always book and stay there again .

The capsule units are so roomy. I like the interior design of the house and the japanese garden at the back. I just wish the distance from the train station is closer but for the price i dont deserve to complain.
